These last 2 Cal in the Field shows have been absolutely excellent. Keep up the great work meateater. It’s fun watching Steve’s old content that I had never seen, but these shows are a great mix of entertainment and information

any real fisherman loves a top water bite. there’s really nothing more exciting than watching any fish blow up on a top water lure. whether it’s a fly, popper, wake bait, etc.

Its even better when you are trying to get someone into fishing or explain why you fish to your friends. I still get giddy when a bluegill hits a red and white bobber too, being able to see the hit in some way is exciting

@@iflanzy I actually want to get into Tenkara. Looks super simple and fun. Plus, having an entire fishing setup that packs down to nearly nothing and weighs nothing sounds like the perfect setup for backpacking/camping. I left the fishing gear at home last trip to save weight and regretted it. I also found a DIY guide to making a tenkara rod which looks simple, cheap, and fun.

The same is true for conventional gear folks, it frustrates me to see the garbage left behind by some because the rest of us get blamed for it so I get it, it's not all but I've had more than my share of jerks when it comes to fly vs bait.

6300 per mile!? That's more than 1 fish for every foot of river. Any more and you couldn't fall in the river without landing on 3 or 4 of them.

That would be a dream come true! All the rivers I've fished, a really good day is landing 15-20 trout but most days about 5-10 trout with an occasional lunker or 2. I'm stuck here in hot,flat,boring,mountainless,troutless texas. God I miss the western states.

I cant say this about much of the other RU-vid channels, or any other programs for that matter.. but meateater produces the most beautiful content. The detail to the landscape, wildlife, and stories to go with it. Yall get on a personal level with your guests and guides. You show the connection that all TRUE outdoorsmen share. This was a few days ago when it was very hot in southeast Idaho. The rivers are amazing here. Fishing is the only thing that is keeping me (a dominican tropical guy) sane.

This was a cool episode I live down in San Antonio but I lived up in Salt Lake for a spell and I’m bummed out that I didn’t get to explore this area though I did spend a lot of time in Jackson and the area I wish I had fished this area of Idaho more I need to go back and explore and fish

Not too many rivers you can catch 6400 trout per mile and also 7ft sturgeon (dinosaurs to us locals) Idaho is the best place in the world

Lower the cost of the licence and they'd get more hooks in the rivers. Fish and game in co. have destroyed most lakes, streams and rivers by introducing 'foreign' fish to the state, which in turn caused the 'whirling' disease which has killed our native cutthroat and rainbow. All you can find is what they stock! Well unless you fish gold waters! When I fish - I want to have something to cook! Their management on our big game is shameful! The "greed" wants to only make big bucks on the out of state licenses. locals cant even draw in some areas with TEN POINTS!

That's it I'm moving to Idaho and becoming a rainbow trout fisherman $50 to $1,000 a fish PS Cal did a great job with this meat eater episode I think this is the first episode of ever seen without but I've seen I think all of the episodes with Joe Rogan and Brian in them I know I seen the Whitetail the mule deer in Idaho the white Talon Wisconsin and the Blacktail in Prince of Wales Alaska and then the turkey episode I love me some Joe Rogan I remember watching mediator when I was a little kid when it first came out and then when I was even littler kid I remember watching Fear Factor with Joe Rogan and then of course I got into the UFC and I always thought Joe Rogan and Bruce Buffer where the two voices synonymous with the UFC and then Joe Rogan Experience came out and I seen the episode where Jo had Steve on the show and JoJo's always talking about hunting still one Steve said he was going to get Joe on meat eater I had to see it anyway tell you did an awesome job hosting the show with no Steve and I don't know if mediator is on the Outdoor Channel or pursue or valedores Channel but it should be

I watch PigPatrolTV and he would rather catch an asian carp than trout because the trout are weak fish that don't fight hard, and their meat are flavorless and mushy. Which is true in some cases, but some of the stocking program are finally breeding bigger tougher trout.

Alright I have to know where that head drop off is. We used to head hunt rainbows but never turned them in because f&g told us they scan them on like a random Tuesday once a month. If I could just drop them into a bin with my name and number on it I'd go back to head hunting bows.

I hate that attitude of fly fishermen that think they are elitist and have that attitude towards spin fisherman or meat fisherman. Anglers need to get along I don’t believe in fly fishing designated waters we don’t need that. Things can be managed in other ways and this management practice shows it. Sounds like a good comparison with these rainbows are large mouth bass over rated probably not supposed to be there and a fish that will quickly over populate
