There’s no way I could have made that hike all the way up that beach…but I also didn’t know it was connected to Clearwater. I did know it was connected to Hog island before the Hurricane though…
Staying at the residence inn Clearwater and definitely will go to Caladesi beach. Is it best to walk from there? If so, which way should we travel once at the beach?
It would be quite the walk from Residence Inn, but you can definitely do it. You could also take an uber as far north as you can go on Clearwater Beach to save you a couple miles of walking. You will be on the beach the entire walk to Caladesi from Clearwater. So you just walk as far as you feel like (or until you hit the far north end of Caladesi), and then turn back. We hope you do end up making it there and love it as much as we do!
Depends where you start from in Clearwater Beach. If you start from the farthest north beach access on Clearwater Beach, it's about a 2 mile walk to the Caldesi main access area. But if you start further south where the vehicle parking is, it will be closer to 3 miles.
Not that we're aware of. You'd have to ride a couple miles down the beach to access the park. So while there likely are bike rentals available somewhere on the beach, we're not sure they would want you riding them that far on the beach given how hard the sand/salt water can be on them.
If you enjoy a more secluded beach vibe, we would say it's worth it to get to Caladesi. If you don't mind sharing the beach with more people, then we'd recommend saving the money and visiting Honeyoon Island. Both offer beautiful beaches.
While I don't think it's a walk the Mrs would be able to do it was fun to watch and learn more about the area...we are big fans of the area from Tarpon Springs down to the Sarasota area
Yeah it's definitely a bit of a walk, but if you don't want to walk it, you can take the ferry from Honeymoon Island. We still haven't done it ourselves, but we've heard it's a nice little ride!
Great video! Did you happen to time how long it took you guys to walk from Clearwater Beach to Caledesi Island? Also, you mentioned a $2 entrance fee if you arrive on foot. How (where) do you pay that?
Thanks, Tonya. We love Caladesi! I believe it was only around 1.5 miles one way, so it would take 20 to 30 minutes for most people. Of course the walks always take us longer since we are stopping to film constantly! There is a spot at the ranger station to pay your entrance fee if you walk to the island.
Love the car haha! I was a little confused when you said that its a two mile beach walk to the island followed by saying your will be riding your scooters to the beach from the parking spot, but then it all made sense when you left them at a bike rack ( So glad they were both still there and not a two for one deal for anyone looking to steal one) seems like a peaceful walk to the island and something we'd likely do ourselves, but a little more cautious now that you said there's rattlesnakes on the island...we don't do snakes, yikes! Look forward to seeing you guys kayak there in the future!
Thanks so much for watching! What do you think, would you enjoy the nature walk along the beach? Or would you choose to take the ferry to Caladesi? Also, do you know why people hang shells on trees? If so, let us know!
@@kaismazen9991 from where we started it is about a 1.25 mile walk to the south edge of Caladesi (around 20 minutes). It is about another mile to the bathroom/concession area on Caladesi. Thanks so much for watching!
Haha loved your Maserati parking spot 🤣 that's pretty expensive for the ferry and parking to get to the island. And the walk looks so nice. I'd definitely like to visit that area. I'm so glad no one stole your scooters!!
Looks like the walk is totally worth it. This makes us wish we were there right now instead of buried in snow 😂 Great tips with the scooters and about the tide. Why do people hang shells on trees? Good thing no one stole your scooters!
Yes, this is definitely the time of year when we appreciate living in Florida the most. Regarding the shell tree, some people say it's done in memory of a loved one who has passed, but we don't know how accurate that is.
Loving your videos; I didn't know you could walk to Caladesi Island! We are retiring to the area in less than 2 years and you are giving me a lot of ideas for places to go and things to do!
Hi Patricia. We're so happy that you found our channel and that we are giving you ideas of things to do when you make it down to Florida! We hope you enjoy living here as much as we do!
It looks well worth walking rather than the ferry - it's such a beautiful looking walk. I wonder if the shell tree happens elsewhere... very curious, I've not seen that before! I thought when you initially said that you thought you had locked up your scooters that it was going to turn out they were stolen... glad to see they weren't! Faith in humanity restored 😄
This is too awesome. Why would anyone not want to live in Florida?. Keep them coming my friends. The shells are different in the trees. Too funny on locking the scooters together. It would have been a twoifer.
We would definitely choose to walk. Those beaches are so beautiful. It looks like perfect spot to pack a picnic and go spend the day on the different beaches that the Island has to offer. I would definitely not want to come across a Rattlesnake😳. We don't like snakes😅 Awesome video guys😁
I love this area I moved there temporarily once. There were over 120 beaches in the area. It's very beautiful.I was raised in Florida but not near the beaches. This is really cool. I never went to Caladesi island. I will check it out next time. Thanks for sharing!
There are soo may to choose from depending on what type of beach experience you are looking for 🌞🌴 sounds like you have truly experienced Florida...the beaches and inland. We love that there is so much to do year round, beyond the beaches!
Beautiful day out walking on the beach, that warm weather is making me jealous haha. Looked peaceful out that way, besides the bugs! You guys making me miss those FL beaches!
Well we've only ever ridden one scooter (the Glion Dolly's that we own), but we put a lot of research into the purchase and we absolutely love them. We've had them for nearly three years now and they are still going strong. Plus they fold up small and can be pulled behind you like a suitcase which is a big perk!
Wow how beautiful was the drive down to beach, all those palm trees 🥰 How cool are your scooters 😀i would definitely do that instead of walking 🤣 Those mansions are massive and look so beautiful! What a beautiful walk to the island. The island looks so beautiful! Hahaha Skylar not locking up the scooters 🤣
We just recently realized that one of those mansions is the home of Hulk Hogan😄 Yes we love our scooters. They are our primary mode of transportation now that we live in the city.
Jamie seems liking Maserati and red color...) this is spectacular way to explore and visiting the island while most people take the ferry! This beach is really beautiful and as the name, it’s water is clear! Keep exploring guys and have a nice weekend!
Oh, this sounds absolutely awesome. Definitely missing beaches right now! Somewhere between baseball games, we might take advantage of this spot! (Just bring your walking shoes, kid!)
From where we started it's about a 1.25 mile walk to the south edge of Caladesi (around 20 minute walk) and another mile from there to get to the bathroom/concession area. So probably around 35-40 minutes of walking one way if you want to get to the central portion of Caladesi. Thanks so much for watching, Catherine.
Love that you started this video infront of your new mix tiles collage! 😍 Love that you guys took your scooters with you, great way to park further away and scoot closer to the beach. You’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world 🌍 So pleased your scooters didn’t get stolen, I was worried from the start when you wrote that they weren’t locked up 😅
Thanks for noticing the mixtiles guys! We love them but soon realized that the natural light in the room we hung them in is not great. Thankfully they are so easy to move!
Love the vid...didn't know you could walk to Caladaise Island.....what kind if scooters are yours ? Love the w a y they fold up...is there a link for them. Or what brand please..Love all your vids...I'm hooked 😆
Thank you for the kind comments, Bill. It's great to hear you are enjoying our videos! We love our scooters and would happily recommend them to anyone in the market. We take them with us almost everywhere, and they save us so much money on gas and parking! The make and model is called Glion Dolly 225. We have included a link in the description to this video if you are considering purchasing one.
Super job guys,,we are snow birds and just came back in April 2021. Yes we have gone to caldeese 2 times but never the long way,,so good to know about the tide being a difficult thing,,,and to put a shell on branches ,cool,,,also you both were fun to watch,,,do it again on the trail from tarpon to Naples by bike,,,would be as super video,,,love to meet ya nx year...better yet for now do fla videos for us too n new york...summer time...xx c and s
The bike ride from Tarpon to Naples sounds like a blast. We are going to have to research this for sure. Would love to run into ya when you are down here next year. We'll keep pumping out the FL content in the meantime!
Having more of a secluded beach feel. Clearwater Beach gets crazy busy on the weekends. And while the north side of Clearwater Beach is normally much less busy than the south side, you can still usually find another level of seclusion on Caladesi.
Beautiful beach! I would love to visit this beach by foot one day! I just love Florida! It's so beautiful! I fell in love with it when I visited Pensacola Beach and Destin in September of this year. The water in Destin is top tier, super clear! ❤️🏖️ Just subscribed!
Thank you so much for the kind comment and for the sub, Sarah! It really is a beautiful beach, and we can't wait to get up to the Panhandle sometime soon to see how the beaches up there compare to those down here in the St. Pete/Clearwater area!
Thanks so much, Harold. We're glad to hear that you love Fort DeSoto despite the less than ideal first experience. Ray stings do suck, no doubt about that!
Hey guys, nice little spot you have found there. I have an island you can walk to in Brisbane on low tide also, but beaches are not as nice. Shame the bugs found you quickly, otherwise would have been great to crash for a while. OMG you so lucky that both the scooters weren't gone by the time you got back. Must admit that I have been guilty of doing this too...locking to each other instead if the bike rack.
The bugs were a bit of a nuisance, but couldn't keep us from having a great day. Yes thankfully we were not in a high-crime area, but feel lucky nonetheless!
That's so cool that you were able to experience places like this growing up. We grew up nowhere close to any beaches, so we are making up for lost time!!
Haven't been to Caladesi but have been to Clearwater, very busy beach. I was told they hang the shells on the trees for a loved one who has passed or someone you want to make a wish for.
We hope you get a chance to visit Caladesi sometime. It really is the complete opposite beach vibe than Clearwater Beach. Absolutely beautiful and a true secluded island feel. Thanks for sharing what you heard about the shells on the tree. Seems believable to us!
It generally takes us about a half hour, but we usually make a stop or two along the way. It could certainly be done a bit faster if you're in a hurry.
@@Explorcation I certainly wouldn’t want to rush it tbh, I would have 2 kids with me who don’t like walking very far so 30 minutes may just be about right for them! Thanks for your reply and keep up with the content, I really enjoy it!
What a nice walk! It does look like it can get really hot though. It’s good that you can walk in water to cool off. I loved seeing the huts, the sea shells hanging on the trees, and the mansions. I can’t believe that there are rattlesnakes. I’m glad that no one stole your scooters!
Our understanding is that beach-front property owners only own the beach up to the high tide line, so as long as you stay between the water and the high tide line, you would not be trespassing.
What's up fellow islanders! It's always more fun when you know you are on an island. Fun video. You have the sandfree blanket. I'm just got a new one and I'm going to go shoot a video of it today.
