Since it doesn't match up exactly, it also prevents its use in lazy mashups. _Why do the vocalists not sound like the original?_ The concept behind this iteration is to clarify the lyrics and bring them to the forefront, not further muddle both them and the already extensive instrumentation with added effects. Additionally, I already applied a slight reverb effect globally, with more on the lead during Lament. Ultimately, I have it set up such that the background choirs take over the atmospheric role of the original SBC's choir.
Do you have just the lyrics with no instrumental? I'm curious how the lyrics would sound if you played them with a sped up version of the original to match. Both the original and this are splendid and I'm curious what it could bring out!
If you were to play the lyrics by themselves with the original, it would sound terribly dissonant because each section of the song, lyrics included, has been transposed into a different key with this remix. Unfortunately, as a result, it wouldn't work all too well even if you sped up the original.
I always thought the original Stained, Brutal Calamity would have been a lot better if the lyrics were more obvious, they did it with Yharon's theme and it felt really special to have a song in terraria thats almost fully vocal. This version does exactly that without making it sound way too different from the original. This is the best cover i have heard of this song. Edit: How is this at almost 100 likes??? I know about Scars of Calamity but i don't like it as much as Stained, Brutal Calamity because the original one is so full of emotion and it holds a special place in my heart. Unlike Scars of Calamity which is good but it's not as special for me as Stained, Brutal Calamity. Edit: It's still an amazing song though, PinpinNeon managed to make exo mechs some of my favorite bosses due to the music they made for the Infernum mod!
I think having the original lyrics masked by the choir, if you understand what i mean that, has you dig into the song as if your digging in to your iner thoughts masked by the carnage of the fight the only thoughts that break through are the loud ones both of you are thinking the ones of doubt

With the lyrics more audible it has become clear that this is not SCals theme, this is YOUR theme. The choir is singing of YOU to Calamitas, not of Calamitas to you!
It's both. The lyrics from the start to 2:30 are Cal's perspective, and 2:30 to 5:00 are the player's, and they swap around a couple more times after that.
My favorite thing about this is the lyrics are way more clear. When I first heard the original song I didn't even know that most of the song had lyrics.

I think the first part is singing to calamitas about you. The second part is to you about calamitas. And the third is about what will happen next and what BOTH entities will influence
Funny thing is that even though I heard the yharon's 2nd theme (the roar of the jungle dragon), I got some lyrics wrong. Like. I remember it was [Lemme get it on that one video] But when I watch a video, it shows not all, and when I see it, realization. Even though I now know the SBC lyrics, I can't follow with the original one, since I don't remember and it's hard to hear it.
This remix is very good, one of the best I've ever heard ngl, I love the Calamity mod and the song Staines Brutal Calamity, and I can say that this remix is very good. I may be exaggerating a little but I really loved it
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SAY. THIS SONG IS AMAZING. THIS SONG IS ENRAGING. THIS SONG... IS PERFECT! Literally, Grief in this revision gives you the feeling that "Hey, this is your end... FOREVER!" feeling by at the last moment changing the pitch 4 semitones higher, and nothing else that I've heard of a remix of this very song gives me the same feeling. Lament just reminds me a lot of Majora's Mask because it gives off sort of an unexpected vibe. As far as I know from my experience playing the Terraria Calamity mod, The first phase of Supreme Calamitas has you fight something that looks to be like a living jaw that wants to eat you alive. The second phase has you fight something a lot more human, just like in Majora's Mask. So when I hear Lament I immediantly think of Majora's Mask. And the third and final phase... THAT SONG RIGHT THERE. THAT IS A MOMENT WHERE YOU FEEL EVERY SINGLE EMOTION AT ONCE. THE SONG HONESTLY STARTED TO DISTRACT ME AT THAT POINT AND IT WAS SO GOOD I HAD TO START VIBING. And then, Acceptance. You can either finally pay back Calamitas for all the shit she's put you through, or decide to spare her entirely, and the first time I defeated Calamitas I honestly felt really bad. So by all means, if this was actually the real Stained Brutal Calamity, it would be THE PERFECT WAY to finish Terraria Calamity. And the perfect way to make me say: "This world... will live on."
When you really look at the lyrics it seems that the one the song is singing about changes first calamitus then the player then a outside pov of the fight
I just realised something In the epiphany part when the lyrics say: "The witch and The Profecy" The witch is Calamitas(duh) but the profecy is the terrarian or us. As if to say this battle was in the making for far longer than any one knew.
