In this video I show you how to calculate the operating points of an ideal refrigeration cycle using Python and PYroMat. It is always inportant when designing a refrigeration cycle to determine its coefficient of performance (COP) to determine it's efficiency. I also look at how to calculate the coefficient of performance for a heat pump.

OMG, so I stumbled on your other video when searching for how to use Pyromat, the Rankin cycle on a steam generator, but I was doing a refrigeration lab. I went through your channel and saw that you also had one on the very same type of lab that I was working on! Even better, so I subbed! Thank you thank you so much! This is so awesome!

Thanks for the sub! 🙌🏻 I am trying to increase my engineering content so please let me know if there is anything, pyromat or not, that you want to see as well?

Thank you so much, how can I learn and use more about ( pyromat). Can I use more than one type of cooling medium in this library?

Thanks for the comment. You can definitely use other cooling mediums for your calculations. I suggest you go to their website and read through their documentation. Also, try coding worked-out examples to become familiar with the code. As with any code, practise makes perfect 🙌

Good job!! ... do yo know which thermodynamic models package is used in PYromat library?. In their web they say that : "At the close of 2017, version 2.0.1 marked a total transition to the Shomate Equation used by the NIST webbook, implemented by a class simply called ig. The same release also introduced the use of collections to organize species by their type." I wanna use the example of this video for other refrigerants but i think my teacher will ask me about the origin of the properties.

Thanks for the comment. I also had a look and you are correct that they use the NIST webhook. I think you can just cite the website when you use PYroMat. If you want you can compare the module's results to some tabular data in a handbook that your teacher prescribed? If there is no difference in the results, then you can confidently use PYroMat in your calculations.

If I'd suggest you something, I would say to make a similar tutorial considering a real cycle calculation using pyromat, not a theoretical one. Would be good to see the power of python applied in situation closest to a real scenario.

Why the thermodynamics tables are so different of the values given by pyromat?

They are not supposed to be. What values are you looking at?

Can you provide colab link? I will apply machine learning api to recommend best refrigerant!

That is a really cool idea! Unfortunately I will need to recreate the notebook. You can always replicate it from the video or the code I provide in my Github repo
