Review by Alex Henderson: Caldera's fans -- something it didn't have nearly enough of -- hoped that Dreamer would be the LP to make the band famous in the jazz-fusion world. But Caldera continued to be obscure, despite providing an adventurous, captivating mixture of jazz, funk, rock, and Latin music. True to form, the writing is excellent on this album: One cannot accuse Caldera's members of weak writing on the South American-influenced "Rain Forest," the samba-minded "Celebration," the flamenco-influenced "Brujerías," or the Carlos Santana-ish opener, "To Capture the Moon." For Caldera, the term "Latin music" meant a variety of things -- everything from Spanish flamenco and Afro-Cuban salsa to Brazilian samba and Andean music -- and on this LP, all of those things successfully interact with jazz, funk, and rock.

In the entire history of jazz fusion, Del Barrio's keyboard solo at the end of this track is one of the great jaw droppers of all time.

The most overlooked, underrated band from the 70's fusion era. This album Dreamer was their best and most under appreciated.

I really believe that Caldera was one of the best of the fusion era. It really proves the point that to be famous does not require talent.

wow, this is what I grew up on top of led zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix and return to for ever, with Jaco on bass killing all odds on an electric bass and then the soul and dance music filled in with other electric new wave genies. Wow the seventies nobody can beat it, only meshuggah can match raw new incredible sounds, without cursing and going crazy for sex. So just hear and learn, wow my latin bro's feeling free and talented, on this track,,,,,wow k cool, on this song alone you can study percussion for years, wow eat your heart out heaters, kool, Acuna one of the most underrated drummers ever, wow dude rock on totally.

That was an INCREDIBLE time. But the thing was, I KNEW IT, at the time. I knew that time would never be equalled . . . All the people you just mentioned, and it was like being in a garden surrounded by thousands and thousands of beautiful flowers . . . you hardly knew which one to look at they were all so beautiful. And you knew they would all die, never to grow again. And that is exactly what happened. I know that people will say "Aa, of COURSE he's going to say HIS time was a special time, never to be repeated." But when I think back, rationally, I think that that is exactly what happened. A nexus of incredible musicians, feeding off each other . . . Steely Dan . . .Billy Cobham, Santana, even rock acts like Genesis, Premiata Forneria Marconi, crossover like Caldera and even Argent and Jeff Beck . . . All those people, at that particular time. After this tune I'm seeing Return to Forever, reunited, playing something off their first album. Magic! I remember my mouth hanging open then, and it hangs open now. I'm so glad I was alive then.

@@kamakirinoko YOU ARE THE REAL DEAL MY PAL, KEEP ON TALKING YOUR EXPERTISE WISDOM, AS IT IS CORRECT 1000%. OUR TIME BACK THEN WILL NEVER BE COMPARED TO ANYTHING AS TODAY. TODAY IT IS ALL ENGINEERD TO DEATH AND COPY. BUT COPIED FROM OUR TIME , AS OUR TIME BACK THEN WAS MAGIC WITH OUR MUSIC. YET THEY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO COPY THE MILLION DOLLAR HITS, WOW EVEN TODAY FROM HUMBLE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND NOT FROM COMPUTERS AS IT WAS WITH OUR TIME, WOW!. EVEN TODAY NOBODY IS PRAISING THE DRUM PARTS ON THIS SONG, THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A CLUE, AS TO THE GENIUS THAT TOOK TO PUT ALL OF THE PERCUSSION TOGETHER TO SOUND AS WOULD BE ONE, WOW! (FOR THIS SONG IS THE DEAL, LIKE YOU AND MY GENERATION THANKS MY PAL!)
