I just want to thank you for this video. Calgary(and Alberta as a whole) gets a lot of bad press and many people see it as a very bland and uncultured place. As a Calgarian myself, I want the world to see what makes us all so proud to call YYC our home. Your video quantified what it is really like to live in Calgary and the absolute beauty we enjoy on a day to day basis. In fact, your video has inspired me to check out a couple new places in my city! Especially that taco place...that restaurant looks like a gem! If you are fortunate enough to come back, check out the Kensington area, it's a cute area filled with old buildings revived by the presence of nifty shops and cafes. From the bottom of my heart thank you for enjoying our city and singing it's praises in a time of such tension and national devide!

Hxunter come to calgary. They changed a whole route and made a new bridge for no proper reason. They always redo the side walks everyday. They keep on building more houses and car parking buildings, getting rid of the trees. Everything in basically every building is under repair...

@@Noahvde Loved this video. Thanks for sharing and showcasing the city. I am especially pleased to hear Calgary did not fit your preconceptions. The Calgary Tower elevator was recently repaired and reopened, so you can check out the attraction next time you are here. I haven't been there in a couple of years but the views are quite something - weather permitting. I also suggest you check out some of the historic main streets and areas nearby, namely 17th Ave. S.W., 4th St. S.W. (Mission/Cliff Bungalow), 10th St. N.W./Kensington Road (Kensington) and 9th Ave. S.E. (Inglewood). Lots of places to eat and drink, and they seem to have a higher concentration of non-chain retail stores as well. These are all a short transit ride from downtown, or a slightly longer walk. Fish Creek Provincial Park is also highly recommended by my friends (I admit I've never been even though I live here, but it is on my to-do list). It is a massive green space in the south of the city - apparently one of the largest such parks on the continent, if Wikipedia is to be believed - and is entirely contained within city limits. I could bore you all day with more ideas but I'll leave it at that for now. Cheers!

Noahvde its worth a trip back! It’s open again and the view is amazing. I’m the pastry chef at sky 360 and let me tell you first hand there’s nothing like watching the sunrise from up there!

@@Noahvde They had to repair it as it got stuck with people inside and there is only one elevator company (otis), so it takes a long time for them to fix stuff. The people who got stuck also sued the owners of the tower which set em back a decent amount, but it is open now! Sucks you weren't able to get up there!

I work for Schindler I due maintenance calls regularly on the elevators there they just don't wanna spend the money to properly fix them.

I live In Calgary myself, and yeah if you look there is some cool stuff, well other than the Calgary stampede. Ya know once I won a dirt bike there! It was hard, you have to take a ball and knock 3 blocks off a table, trust me it’s harder than it sounds! Anyway I got the bike. But yeah just explore down town and maybe China town, and you WILL find something cool

People say this makes Calgary looks interesting. Once you live her for a while or your whole life you don’t really see the beauty cause you see it everyday. I went to Vancouver before and I thought it was awesome. My cousin over there was like. “Eh, it’s boring tbh”. It’s the same with any place you go to.

very true. i met a girl in Paris a number of years ago. we walked around the city for a while and she couldn't believe how amazed i was at all the old buildings and cool things to see. her response was similar "I guess i've never noticed since i've lived here my whole life". she had never gone up the Eiffel Tower until we went together.

@Kazanova Capone BC especially Metro Van is interesting for about a year, then it's just rain, rude people, homelessness, money, egos, useless, corrupt money-hungry government, and erratic customer service. You meet some great people here, but most of them are from someplace else. Once you've done the mountains and ocean 20 or 30 times, it gets boring as well, then you get to see the shit-show that is LM BC.

I’ve lived here my whole life, and like everyone else, I had a massive phase of being bored, not thinking there was anything to do here. I think this video really highlighted just a few of things available to us! People need to get out more in this city and explore, go on bike rides, venture to the mountains and enjoy the endless amount of entertainment spots we have. It took me a trip across the world to realize how good we have it here, and I hope everyone realizes this at one point! One of the best city’s in the world!! @@nopressure9383 Most people are bland and boring. No nightlife. City shuts down at 6PM. Not many people hang out at the park in the summer. Music scene is very small for a city of this size, but supportive. No one hangs out on their porches or with their neighbours. I have yet to see a grocery store or any store other than mcdonalds that is open 24 hours. No after hours clubs. This city lacks hospitality- sure calgarians are more likely to say hi to you on the street but way less likely to have a conversation with you at the bar. Its very cliquey, people seem to be content with their group of friends. I like eccentricity and randomness, only people that are eccentric look like a mix between marilyn manson and rainbow gathering. All the public art is planned and rigid, no spontaneous art like you see in other cities. I am also in my 20s so what I like is not for everyone, lived in montreal and toronto.

Kazanova Capone Alberta is the best province in Canada, Edmonton sucks but Calgary is pretty good. And there’s drunk natives everywhere in Canada, not just Alberta. They’re definitely worse in Edmonton though, the police have largely cleaned up the downtown core in Calgary.

That's awesome you guys went to Nose Hill! It's honestly my favourite Calgary park (it's absolutely magical in the summer time), but I wish you'd gone to a couple of the others too. I know you were probably pressed for time, but the green spaces and Civic parks are honestly one of my favorite things about living in this city. They are an absolute treat to see and use, and I can tell you from living in other cities, they are well loved by the citizens and the city workers who take care of them. If you get a chance to come again, please also consider visiting my favourite parks: Fish Creek Park, Bowness Park, Confluence Park, and Big Hill Springs (just out of the city to the west). 🙂

It's the best Calgary video I've seen it. You know It's a little hard to find videos like that where you can see a large part of the city in only idk 9 minutes.
