Thanks. I too is facing the same problem. I know it has something to do with calibration as my DJI camera Gimbal also need to calibrate after a crash. Now I know how to access it for the ziyun.

Both Mac and Windows are available. I downloaded the Windows version and didn't have any issues. I have a lower-end phone (Moto G3) and the memory is full, so I needed the Windows version. Thanks for your video, it really helped.
My Smooth Q is now turing round and round when I turn it on. Any clues - this is with or without the phone in the holder. I've done the calibration and it still only turns round and round. Help? Thank you in advance.
I had the same issue, after I dropped it from 10 feet with my iphone attached to it. Also the imbalance can be caused if the gimbal has not been used for some time (this bit of info is from the zhi yun website). Someone on twitter contacted the company about his imbalance and they advised him to calibrate the gimbal. Only if this does not fix anything you need to send it for repairs. I will be calibrating mine again soon, but to all those having a problem, calibration can be tricky. It's not always easy to get the suggested positions from the app. Just try again until you get it right.
I just got one for Christmas. Definitely not calibrated right out of the box. This video helped on how to do that as the instruction booklet and online manual were not very helpful.
Can someone help me? IM GOING CRAZY! I’m at the calibrating part but haven’t gotten the first green light in the past 10 minutes ..just unboxed mine and the gimbal is vibrating or phone is flopping every direction everywhere . The screen even cracked from hitting the top part of handle :/
LOL i have watched bazillion vids of this gimbal before buying, you are legitly the first person to pronounce it correctly. it bothered me so much with all the mispronunciation
Good job explaining the name pronunciation, and the calibration. So far I have not noticed an issue with mine although I've only used it for a few sessions. By the way I'm using it with the large iPhone 8 Plus. It required me to use a counter weight to balance it perfectly. I used a little Velcro to attach a Quarter to the end. It has been working good that way. You can tell it was not designed for phones that big but it still works.
Since the Smooth Q was on sale just about everywhere, mine was $99 on Amazon, maybe a new version is coming which could accommodate the larger phones. That's just a guess, I don't know. Maybe they're on sale simply for the Holiday shopping season.
Same problems here with calibrating my smooth q... Contact with Zhiyun Tech only learned me that the android app doesn't work well and I should try it with iOS. So tried that today, but still no luck. Thinking of returning it, but going on a four-week trip and want to make some nice videos.... Can I pick a new Osmo Mobile 2 on Bali maybe??
I just picked up my zhiyun smooth q gimbal today. The first thing I noticed is that it doesn't have pause video which I used a lot with my Samsung S8 mobile phone.
HI..I am not able to pan left or right using the joystick, can you please tell me in which mode i should put it inorder to use the pan function...I have done the upgrades and calibration...please help
The default mode every time it starts with is called 'Pan Following' mode, in this mode, you control the panning by actually pan your gimbal, not joystick. If you want to control by joystick, click 'mode' button once, and now you are in 'Lock' mode, where both tilting and panning is controlled by joystick. Having Issues getting my smooth Q to balance properly. I am trying to use the app to calibrate it but I cant tell what position the photo wants me to hold it in. This is very frustrating.
Hi JZ! Thanks for the vid! I have Android, and could not make it work with the ZY App, i think it's probably a bug. It was just not going anywhere. Once I managed ONE greeen light, but I could not reproduce that, nor go any further. However the same procedure worked with Zhiyun Assistant. So if anyone has problems on Android, try that first! ...and by the way, JZ... tell you mom: it's called axis, not axe. It actually means something different in English. :-p
JZ exactly the same thing happened with me. It was even hard to get to the first step with the ZY app. It's hard to justify why ZY can't make a decent the Android app. They even had time for it. I was hoping they will debug it, but it was like this for a year now. ZY should really put some money into this as otherwise it is a great gimbal, but this lame app erodes their reputation.
I am having difficulties making this gimbal work right. After balancing the phone I turned on the gimbal and the motor does tilt the phone, But in landscape mode it's looking slightly downwards. This, By the way is even after using the app to calibrate. Second issue, Is I'm pressing the mode button once after power up the gimbal still moves the phone. I thought that was lock mode? Also, Is the gimbal supposed to move so slow from left to right? the footage is smooth and almost cinematic but it's a bit difficult to see what the phone sees. Having said all that, Do I have a defective unit or am I missing a step? sorry for the novel 🤗
I just bought myine, but I don't know why but as soon as i turn on my gimbal it starts to vibrate like crazy and im affraid to break it. PLEASE HEEEELP!!!
Hi! i have a problem with my smooth q, i just do all the same like you on the video, but it doesn't want to accept step 3, nothing happens. the firmware the latest (1.60), i tried it with programs on ios and android (zy play and zhiyun assistant) and on laptops win/macos - all the same, it just doesn't go on step 4. once it went to step 4, but not with right position, the position of gimbal was on step 2 and it just skipped step 3 on the same position of step 2. and after that it skipped step 5, from position 4 to 6.
Anyone here experiencing troubles using the ZY PLAY app , cant even pass the 1st step. While using the Zhiyun assistant works perfectly. Any suggestions what else to do. My gimbal is fresh from the box.
@@JZRU-vid no, not really... I used the method listen step by step and still no dice. I think there's not enough weight to the gimbal from the 4k+. I was about to reach out to Xiaomi AND Zhiyun to see if I couldn't get the action cam adapter. I can see them on amazon, but I like having ones made by the right company when they have it.
I just mean, I've watched many, many videos/reviews on this product, and nobody has pronounced it right. Not only do you do that, but you also explain why.
I just have to say, if you read the manual this is the first step U'r suppose to do. So if you want subscribers don't waste my 5 min. on the first step to set up the gimbal!
having the exact issue explained here and also the same problems...the app refuses to accept manual calibration period,the instructions are terrible and overall i would say it's a trerrible alternative to the DJI
