Welcome to my sewing room...I hope that you enjoy our time together:)
In this video I show you how to make the first Applique Block for Week One of the
"CALICO GARDEN" Sew Along that starts on my BLOG:
Monday, January 30th, 2023
I also show you how I set up a binder for the sew along guide
and sneak peek a few more of the blocks for the border in the quilt.
During this sew along we will be making the Calico Garden Quilt using
Calico Fabric and the set of Calico Garden Sew Simple Shapes.

I am almost finished cutting my fabric but at age 80 it’s hard to stand at my cutting table for too long. I just have a little left to cut. Then I will prepare all my bias pieces. All this prep makes it so easy when it’s time to actually start sewing. This video has been great to be able to visualize how everything will come together in the end. Thank you for your help.

NEW USE, Lori I found a new use for your roller! When I press a seam I roll it instead of using my clappers! The seam goes sew (so) flat I shared it with my guild and they loved it too. Try it you too may be a convert.

Two blocks done…yay! May I request in the bee 🐝 prepared section that the pattern pieces for each block be listed? I cut interfacing and fabric for each block individually to prepare and had to hunt for each individually on your guide. My time is limited and I can’t do ALL the cutting by fabric as listed. I then have to wait for your blog tutorials to make sure I have the correct pieces. If you could just add a page listing each block and it’s template pieces it would be SO much easier for me! I love your Calico Garden pattern and fabrics Lori. Thank you for all the beautiful designs you create for us. I am a true fan of yours. Blessings on your day. ❤Sincerely, Suzanne

I have been assembling the blocks of the Calico Garden Quilt today. I got caught out by enthusiastically going ahead and sewing the Calico Garden flowers together - without the sashing in-between (since it's not in the tutorial) I then had to unpick them and try again (sigh) nevermind, I'm happy with how cheery and colourful the quilt looks 💕🌻

I’m so glad I had insomnia and found this sew along. Yesterday I dug out a quilt I started back in early 2020 (my goal is to finish those block’s by week’s end) and as I was happily sewing along it occurred to me that I really missed the camaraderie of being in a group working on the same project. Haha🙂.....that was me earlier today. Stitching together a flange binding. 1st I stitched a circle with 2 strips instead of to the end of the next strip. Then, I stitched the wrong end so the piece was wrong side up from the rest. 😳🫢😉

Miss Lori, are you stitching between 14 and 20 stitches per inch? You didn't say, its hard to see. On the curved flower petal piece it would be closer to 20 stitches, correct? Thank you.

Hi A quick question should the shapes be exactly the same size as the templates once you have turned them and pressed them as I have tried on some scrap and they seem off - Tired a leaf and a heart shape.
