Especially the lower income. Food prices under Trump were at a 15 year low. Add that with his Federal tax cuts and doubling the standard tax deduction, people were eating better and able to save a few bucks. Those on food stamps felt like they got a raise too with the lower costs.

When you can register to vote on a election day, AND vote without showing any ID, it's not a easy fix. Voting laws changed in 2015 without the voters voting on them. Newsom changed them again this year, making mail-in ballots permanent.

Poor, sad California. I grew up in your beautiful Redwood forest of Santa Cruz, I swam and surfed all along your coast, meeting dolphins and one great white. I spent four years studying in SLO at Cal Poly Tech but sometimes the skies were so beautiful, I swear I could see every star. Living in an old WWII couples home on the beach in Carlsbad, we put on our wetsuits and catcalled the inlandders for taking our waves. Fire Season in Autumn, the Santa Ana winds flying through my hair. Visiting the missions and cemeteries of history. Monks and Indians buried side by side. California the state of paradise. Reagan passed and to the WH he went and then their was Clint Eastwood, please bring him back. Because the Democrats have been destroying our state for three decades and only the rich can stay. A paradise should be shared by the people not the government. Forty years I hung on, climbing trees looking over the sea, praying to the moon that the Democrats would be ruined. It was a dream... I had to leave when Obama was elected and decided to bail out banks. First it was giving up a day of work to stop lay offs, then the lay offs began. Living in a shoebox I packed all my treasures and lit out for the Rockies. Beautiful in its brutality but no paradise. Now living in an old Victorian house I bought in an auction. What did I get myself in to? California is calling. I have property there and my parents have a beautiful home worth millions. Grubby people ask will you sell? It's my childhood home, the big white elephant. Maybe. If I'm forced to. One day I'll move back, build a cabin in Strawberry and spend days hiking and swimming in Pinecrest Lake. I'm a native Californian and I'll be back and hopefully every Democrat will be trashed.

Canada here. No we hate Trudeau and the ndp. Trudeau voted back in and was not the peoples choice. Which gave us 8 years of he'll. Pretty confident that we will usher pollevere in. I’ve live in Cali for 40 years. It was politically competitive when I first got here, but it’s a one party state now. I don’t vote half the time. I only vote if I can vote “No” on an initiative. I’ve taught statistics. We could allow 30 people to vote and get the same results. Now, we have Democrats running against each other because of jungle primaries.
Because they want more regulation, they can afford it and it prevents anyone from being able to compete with their corporations because it's impossible to build up a company from nothing when you're taxed out of existence.
Sometimes they support both candidates on the down low & sometimes they support extremist so they can get close to then to sway them to adopt more moderate positions & moderate tax to ward off higher taxes and regulations.
I have lived in Ca for most of my life. We desperately need a change in leadership here. 25 billion gone to helping the homeless but its worse than ever. Hows that high speed railway coming along, a few more BILLION of tax payer funds. Taxes up the ars, fees for everything. This is no where near the great state I grew up in. My wife and I are seriously considering leaving. Thats a bummer, CA from a locational stance is beautiful, but its just not the Golden State it once was. Taxing unrealized capital gains will eliminate unrealized capital gains. In the case that it did not whatever the amount of tax is would simply be added to rent. For example, let's say I own a house free and clear that I paid 150K for and is now worth 750K. I get taxed on 600K unrealized gain, and I have to pay 75K in taxes. Now I can't afford to live in my house, so I will rent it out for $7,500 / month so I can pay the California tax and have some money left to go rent a place somewhere else that I can afford. If the state imposed rent control then they can have the house and figure out how the get the money out of it. If they attach it to me personally I will file bankruptcy. In all cases the state will never get the money from me - BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE IT.
Where in the shiite do people live in California?? My wife and I are RN's, and we paid $225,000 for our house in 2010, and that was close to the Max we could afford while we were both working full time. We have less than five years left on our 15 year mortgage but I'll be damned if I'll ever buy another house! Median house price is $900k!! In California, I wouldn't even be able to buy a home on our salaries which is close to $300K/year and we're not brand new nurses... Both of us have over 20 years experience and we wouldn't be able to get a house? I don't get it man, where do all the blue collar people live for gods sake? That's $300k for both of our salaries put together, and probably closer to $250K, with OT on My check basically every week. Probably $180K after taxes and insurance. My kids are never going to stand a chance at this rate. God help us if we don't get Democrats out of office.

Unfortunately, the appointed politicians had no idea how to run or maintain the oil production system as the engineers and technical people left. This was the beginning of the decline of Venezuela's oil production and its economy similar to other government ran enterprises in other Socialist countries..
CA. has 11 fuel refineries and only 3 make fuel for CA. and for some reason one of the 3 is down so that means 2 make fuel for CA. and the others refineries send fuel out of state and they are paying less than CA . just a few months ago alaska was paying less for fuel and they dont have any fuel refineries its all trucked in or comes in by boat .
Here in Kalifornia, we are suffering through systemic corruption from every level of government, unlawful out of control taxes, and lawlessness all a result of the Democrat Super Majority in control of the state for over a decade. The Democrats remain the super majority only because they have the largest organized voter block, the public employee unions(police & sheriff, fire fighters, teachers, etc.) funding their candidates and ballot harvesting on thier behalf. Why would the unions support the lawlessness and disorder direction of California? Answer: $1.7T in unfunded public pension liabilities is a powerful motivator. Any time an adult is elected to office and tries to make meaningful changes to fix the budget, the public employee unions organize and oust that representative.
