The amount that you’re paid per hour typically matches the state you live in and their economy. I think a woman explained how her job in NY gets her six figures but after everything is taken out, she could only comfortably afford a studio apartment compared to with her income in TX, she could afford herself a two story house.
Lower cost of living = lower pay Higher cost of living = higher pay It’s essentially the same. Making 20 an hour in New York is like making 15 an hour in Texas. If you raise the wages guess what? Cost of living goes up with it. Your paycheck might look bigger but it’s essentially the same as your smaller paycheck. Don’t get how people don’t understand this yet 🤦🏻♂️
The thing you didn't mention is the cost of living goes up regardless. Like there hasn't been a time when it didn't, the problem is when wages don't go up proportionally to increase in cost of living
@@seanthe100 dude wages increase therefore prices increase. Maybe that’s too hard for you to understand so lemme spell it out for you. You’re a landlord. I’m your tenant. You know my wages. I currently make 10 dollars an hour. You set my rent at 500 a month because of said wages. Then minimum wage gets increased to 15 dollars an hour where I live. Therefore if you were smart as any business owner would be you would increase your rent prices. You’ll probably have to anyways as you’ll probably have to pay your staff more as if they were making under 10 an hour that’ll no longer suffice. Now my rent is increased to 800 dollars a month! Utilities go up, Food goes up. Everything increases. So now 10 dollars an hour is virtually the same as 15 an hour. I’m still in the exact same amount of poverty. If you can’t comprehend that I feel deeply sorry for you.
@@seanthe100 And prices go up based on demand. It also differs in terms of what you’re referring to. Rent and most things we Americans pay stay virtually unchanged in most parts of the country. Can’t ask for more money just because the people you or the idiots around you elected is screwing shit up. And if you just up and leave like everyone has With California shit gets worst. @@seanthe100 so you’re stupid gotcha. You’re right don’t have to tell the landlord. Once the landlord sees the universal increase of minimum wage she’s gonna increase rent. Why? Because you OR future tenants will be making more money therefore it’s time to charge more money
I live in Houston, and now the prices here have gone up a lot. Too many people came from California (and other states) and have happily paid high prices for homes. Now, Texas isn’t as cost friendly as it used to be. Nothing against the people who migrated from California, but it’s a very unfortunate situation for the Texans.
@@vandannng528 The cost of living used to be very low in Houston. While the cost of living in states like California was very high. So, that’s what attracted so many people to relocate to Houston. It’s hard to even find an apartment, and any decent one is very expensive. Pretty soon, Houstonians won’t even be able to afford to live in their own city. It’s especially hard on the elderly or anyone with limited income.

Texas has the same federal taxes. California income taxes are pretty low if you make less than $50k per year. Texas property tax rates are much higher percentage wise. It just depends on cost of real property. Some places (Dallas, Austin, etc) property prices are comparable to California.
