UPDATE: Another tie! Because tomorrow's review is of a video game, I'm going with Les Mis sort of so there's not two in a row. (I expect Before Your Eyes to take it in the next day or two anyway.) Welcome to Day 10 of 30 Days of TWIR. Until tomorrow morning, you can use this comments section to decide what I will review on Day 13. The most-liked suggestion when I wake up tomorrow will be locked in for Friday. I’ll recap the rules here, but for a deeper explanation, check out the Announcement video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lQHsiv2jFak.html Suggestions that do not follow the rules will be ignored or even deleted: 1) One suggestion per person per video. 2) No more than three movies in a row or 22 in total. 3) Should be experience-able in under 3 hours and cost less than $15 (possibly flexible). 4) No works by credibly accused predators. The next two reviews are the British side dish mushy peas and the game The Beginner’s Guide. The full schedule is available here: theweekireview.com/events/month/2022-01/ Have at it!
Day 5 of requesting Before Your Eyes, which is just one of the sweetest games I've played in recent memory. Its whole gimmick is that it uses your webcam to track your eye movements and every time you blink, you jump forward in time. I'd advise playing without this, though (and there is an option to), because having a prolonged staring contest with your monitor in order to see all the dialogue isn't exactly what you'd call fun. But the story is an absolute emotional rollercoaster, and I loved it. Takes around two hours to get through, and you already own it, so yeah.
My suggestion of the day, The 3 deaths of Marisela Escobedo, is a Mexican documentary about a mom fighting to achieve justice for the murder of her daughter and prevent her from being forgotten in impunity, knowing the risks of doing so in a location in México known by that time to be one the most dangerous place for women in the world. To be watched in Spanish with subtitles. On Netflix.
Great recommendation, is hard to believe is all real, a mom not only against the murderer of her daughter but against the incompetence of the justice system, the police force, a corrupt government linked with organized crime, she never gave up.
My review suggestion is Buffalo Wild Wings TraditIonal 10 wings lunch combo(Available weekdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m) Price of admission: $13.00 Time Investment: 40 minutes Why i'm suggesting this for review: Because you really need a break.
My suggestion is Les Miserables (2012), directed by Tom Hooper I'm partly suggesting this because I recently rewatched your On Being Vaccinated video and was blown away again by your rendition of Who Am I, then realised I don't think you've ever touched on the... ahem... controversial adaptation. I'm also partly suggesting this because I'm evil.
Actually, because I've already written about it, if this wins, I'm not going to write a review. Instead, I will just record myself singing a karaoke version of Stars. I'm completely open to doing that... but you're not going to get a normal video.
Highly recommend for when you listen to her latest album, Sinner Get Ready, that you read the statement she wrote about the background of the backstory of the album and her relationship with Alexis Marshall from Daughters
I wanna suggest the album Smiling With No Teeth by the aussie rapper Genesis Owusu Is an about mental health, racism among other things that probably grant another listen from me It's grooves like no one else's business I think it's up your alley
My suggestion today is the manga Uzumaki by Junji Ito, also trying to guess if you are into him or manga and anime in general, it's a horror lovecraftian masterpiece about obssession and madness
Sorry for your pain, Alec. Suggesting something as indigestible as “Caligula” must’ve been somewhat exhilarating. The milk of human kindness soured and coagulated
Part 2 of suggesting this amazing graphic novel I wanna sugest the comic Asterios Polyp! It's about a respected architect but on paper, were none of his blueprints ever got constructed. It uses everything about the medium of the comics, the paneling, colors, mix of artstyles, lettering, to tell the story of this bohemian man that only shows one side of himself and how it translate to his relationship and view of life. Even if you don't review it, i highly recommend it, and you can probably find it at a library or digital
Day 2 - A Night On The Boulevard, by Gyorgy Kovasznai. While Hungarian animation is very fascinating topic that I'd like to see covered in more detail, this short feels both like a disorienting and welcoming starting point. I found a subbed upload of it on RU-vid, but Mubi also has it.
I can't believe I missed when someone suggested this I would've upvoted it too Alec prolly talks about us to his therapist at this point lol Jokes aside excited to see what you have to say about it
My suggestion is the album "Moss Grew on the Swords and Plowshares Alike" by Kayo Dot. The album is almost exclusively written and performed by front man Toby Driver (vocals, guitar, bass, drums, synths) with the exception of two collaborators from his adolescence who contributed the lyrics and guitar solos. Toby Driver is known for making unconventional adventurous music, often making some kind of statement with his records. However, "Moss..." was made simply to revisit the kind of music he and his friends bonded over in high school (as he calls it, Euro metal). Regardless, his composition style still manages to re-envision the future for this kind of music and there's nothing quite like it that I've heard before. I'm a long time listener so I connected with it right away, but I hope new listeners are drawn in as well. (I'm annoyingly suggesting this repeatedly in the hopes that it happens because the band is relatively unknown and I sincerely hope they find the career success they've sought for decades. Any review, good or bad, at least helps to put them in the map.)
Day four of requesting Douglas G Johnson’s 1977 short film The Phone Call. It is a 24 minute story of one bassoon-playing high schooler, who wants to ask a girl out, however to do so must build confidence by learning karate, however to do so must earn money, so he gets a job at a drive-in burger and ice cream restaurant. It’s free on RU-vid
Day something: Surf's Up (2007) I'm generally not a huge fan of animation, but something about this movie really speaks to me and nobody really talks about it much.
I would like to suggest that you review season 1 of the excellent Comedy Central TV show Review. Is it definitely meta? Yes. Do I think you’ll have some fun with that? Also yes. And it’s a good show. The season runtime is around 3 hours but I think it’s worth it for everyone involved.
Its good not to be confused with the australian show alo dark humor that is similar but this is a fascinating character study how far a man can destroy his life and others gradually getting darker a for his reviews with brilliant dark humor. And very meta . And would be meta meta to review it now :P Personally my favourite is "there all is aching"
@@marocat4749 Yeah - I think I’m going to keep suggesting this for the rest of the month until it picks up traction. Lol. It’s just so in the spirit of this experiment
Yeah, I had written a good chunk of it... and then the file just straight-up disappeared so it was all gone, and I completely lost the start from scratch. :/
