I have never felt compelled to listen to metal music or anything as abrasive. But upon hearing the background of this album, and being a survivor of sexual abuse myself, I finally gave this album a listen... Listening to this was an experience unlike anything I've ever had. It painfully echoed an anger and resentment inside me - a want for revenge. I have always known that I cannot enact this in real life, of course; I cant hurt my abuser as badly as they have me. But when I listened to this, I felt that in her music, existed a space in which she could have that savage retribution, and I was there sharing it with her... This was a powerful record.

Very brave of you to share that here. Thank you for sharing that and your experience with the record.

Excellent review of a stunning album. I don't ever remember listening to an album that has left me feeling so emotionally devastated. I think it's a work of genius.

Glad you reviewed that one - I listened to it as a background this Sunday and liked it but obviously need to give it more attention as she's quite an interesting artist.

Definitely, its impossible to get everything out of this after one quick listen. I could probably spend the next couple months with this and keep finding more and more to appreciate.

I really consider doing a video on it. I just am not sure what I can add to the conversation. To make it short: this record did hit me emotionally quite a bit. Good video by the way, I am really glad you covered it on your channel, it is a record that needs attention.

Great review. I just discovered Lingua Ignota through her participation to Oxbow's song Lovely Murk, on their latest record. I'm hooked.

It was deffinitely one of a kind listening experience. It's been a long time since an album terrfied me like this one did. Those quiet moments between another bursts of abbrasive noise reminded me a bit waiting for a jumpscare in a horror movie. You just know it's gonna come any moment now ;)

I've never been so disappointed as when i found out i missed her concert near me less than a month after i found this album. I've never heard anything like it and have been struggling to describe what kind of masterpiece it is. Thanks much for your review. You nailed it. Completely. And those of us who have visited the depths of ourselves will always mark time as before and after experiencing Caligula.

I just finished listening to Caligula earlier, and so I thought I’d come back to this video to give you my input on it since your rating of 5/5 and a lot surrounding the album itself got me really intrigued. This whole album, especially Do You Doubt Me Traitor, really is one of the darkest, most destructive, hateful and depressing things I’ve ever heard. But at the same time, my god was it an amazing experience unlike anything else. There’s a lot to it and it takes a lot out of you as well. Can’t believe how incredible it was either. It’s hard to digest but truly something special. A well deserved 5/5, one that I sorta hope goes on to become a cult classic with time.

My Art and culture teacher (who goes by Charlotte Bashner) sounds a lot like this singer. And funnily enough, she also makes music too. Kinda creepy that I know this but hey, I know musicians somehow, half of the people I hang out with are musicians.

As someone who has listened to any number of metal releases proclaiming to be "disturbing, evil, br00tuhl, and extreme" but I challenge anyone to show me another album that comes close to being as utterly soul-crushing, disturbing and genuinely unsettling. This legitimately uncomfortable to listen to, and yet it's a complete masterpiece

Don't know about the word "masterpiece", though - this word has taken so much abuse where on every other video/article someone declares something that nobody has ever heard or ever will a "masterpiece" that the word means nothing anymore... Of course everybody can have different definition for the word - for me key component of it is the "test of time" - and not just "some" time but centuries - where the shear fact somebody still talks about it says an awful lot.

I can't speak for how other people use it, I can only speak for myself - the list of albums i'd call masterpieces is short, even despite the new amount of 5/5's I've given out this year. But generally I'd agree with your latter point , as its the best albums that will stick with us through the years regardless of what else is released.

The term “masterpiece” is heavily subjective.
