I was assisting her father during that terrible time, his words I can never forget as she was his only child, he was crying and said now I will never be a grandfather. He had a large photo of her hanging over his fire place. There was a small towel missing from one of the bathrooms and he believed the killer had her hands wrapped in that. Johan my heart still goes out to you and I will never ever forget Anika or you. ❤

It is not uncommon that the stored DNA of the killer does not match anybody. With our corrupt and under-zealous police force it probably wasn't stored under the correct protocol and conditions. This Damian really gives the creeps with his dark shit and cruelty to animals. And that scratches are so coincidental!

This is somebody she knew, it must be! Her murderer will be found!. My heart goes out to the parents,what an horrific sight to behold in your home. Nobody deserves to die like that. Whoever did this " you will be caught it's only a matter of time!". This story is heart wrenching.😢

Agreed. Or she would not have put the dogs away and invited the person inside as well as be prepared to serve a drink. The struggle makes me think that the individual she invited inside could even have been female. Male or female, the individual obviously felt a lot of anger over something very personal to them.

This is so incredibly sad. Only 17 years old!! It had to have been someone she knew. Cold cases are so frustrating. Over time evidence gets lost, witnesses move away, new and equally brutal cases occur. I hope the murderer gets caught.

There could have been a 'master mind' who contracted someone to execute this horrible crime - there is too much focus on the DNA of KNOWN suspects - there's a contractor behind this heinous crime. Nothing mentioned on polygraph tests. The Master mind would surely stand out amongst the rest. Don't rule out the driver from the pharmacy who intended to deliver medicine, knowing full well she was home alone...it has not been mentioned whether the father collected the meds before arriving home. Just my opinion.

Awesome thx Nicole This terrible terrible deed has always worried me so badly. I agree was someone she knew must have been excited to see, as why would she have opened for them. But comfortable enough to open whilst she felt her worst. Someone she would have been in contact with to say she is home, how else did they know she was home? Surely we have tower data or cell phone data. Unfortunately if he left his dna lying around why cut off her hands? For a trophy perhaps or something more sinister. Maybe there were two people.

Some time after her death, her father had bought a very expensive pickup truck, as if there was life insurance payout. I remember finding it strange because he was not wealthy at all. Also he is a weird guy...I had been in his house once because we did neighborhood watch together and that's when I saw the blond woman with the baby. I think the woman rented an in-house room there. Was she ever interviewed? You mentioned that someone saw her pushing a pram.

I am a deluded citizen of South Africa where sadly the justice system failed with the way this case was handled. The fact that the police took 3 hours of a broken father, peppered him - goes beyond my understanding. I'm not a person who knows the law, but what stands out is Those 2 guys interested with the ritual tendencies should have been interrogated until they broke their guard and made their confession. Such a dreadful shame.

It seems one of her friends, for whom she opened the door either killed her because of personal reasons or the friend had the wrong friends. Dyeing her beautiful blonde hair black and painting the nails black - she was definitely into the occult. Damien is a typical psychopath. How AWFUL for this darling beauty and her family and friends. I remember this vaguely from my childhood. The court said "let's take a break until we all feel better"? I have lost a young son, just 14. The pain never stops. You just learn to live with it. My deepest condolences to her parents and I am waiting for the day the murderer is caught! I myself don't like cold cases but this one was so worth watching. Also from South Africa so you never know, one of us might just hear something one day. This case really needs solving. This one and so many others. I hope I live to see justice served for this darling girl 🙏🏻. Don't forget about the more recent Yolande Botha or Oosthuizen. Her parents and family need to see justice served. But how? When?

They should a family tree with the DNA that is found on this poor child, it's most heartbreaking. She's white and South African police don't care about white ppl,thats so unfair to an innocent child. The public should insist on urgently attending the case by the police. This could happen again and we should not be waiting for another anika scenario. I live in Pretoria, and it could be my friend or family next and is going to be acceptable. We must not accept this unreliable behavior by our SA government. They waste tax payers money on political issues and unscrupulous leaders. They need to fund this investigation, the perpetrator is laughing at this police in our country. My question is about the placement of the coffee mugs. Were they next to each other on the coffee table (meaning she was planning to sit next to the person) or were they on opposite ends of the table? (Meaning someone she wouldn’t naturally sit next to). Maybe a silly question and I NEVER comment but it’s been bugging me. Where were those coffee cups placed on the table? From there you can work out how she’d usually sit with her father having coffee. With a boyfriend. With a stranger etc.

No...the hands were taken as a keepsake. The killer wanted to re-live the moment. Also, the position of the body reminds me of the BTK killer who left his victims in a position specifically to create maximum shock and disgust. The amount of anger and hatred in this crime suggests someone who had been watching Anika for a long time, knew her for a very long time, studied her for a very long time. I dunno but the neighbour who the father called for help is sticking out to me. The killer had to have known her habits. Method of killing was slow, very calculated, precise, right down to the placement of the body. The killer had been planning this for a long time. He wanted it perfect.

I don’t see where ‘allegedly’ is used inappropriately. Here in the US (as I am sure with everywhere else), something is ‘alleged’ until it is proven. So she is just safeguarding herself against possible lawsuits etc. What I love hearing her say is something or another is ‘hectic’.😅
