Call of Duty: Black Ops - Campaign - Project Nova 

Cracks me up Steiner mentions a Russian flag flying over Berlin, whilst unknowingly standing next to the guy who planted that flag.

I loved this mission and how much it called back to World at War. Those who played Black Ops without playing World at War really missed out on the significance of this mission. It's great how they even used the music from that game. I wondered after completing WaW what would've happened to Resnov and Dimitri, and if they truly would have made it home after all they'd done. Having Black Ops answer this in a truly sad yet powerful way was for me one of the highlights of this game, and why for me this is one of the best Call of Duties.

Back when call of duty's campaigns were actually interesting and made you feel like an actual solider fighting in a real and brutal war. Edit: Damn, this comment is old. I was a sophomore when I made this...

Loved how raw and unsettling the atmosphere of this misson is. It's obscure spec-ops shit, BUT IN 1945. You are deep in the arctic, no gadgets, no heli exfils, no winter facegear and no handheld radios. Here's a papasha and sheepskin mittens, URAAAAA.

A sad ending for Dimitri Petrenko. He fought real hard back in World War 2, to simply only be killed by a poisonous gas. Terrible end for him

Dimitri: Survives WWII on Veteran being the most hell thing ever. Nova 6: I'm about to end this man's whole career.

Cool detail I possibly noticed at the end of the cutscene: Whenever you play as mason or Hudson, the end of the beginning cutscene will have a picture of one of them on a bright clear background that also might be documents zoomed in on to see the picture. However when reznov is the playable character in project nova. Once we see reznov it’s a very dark lighting, and the numbers are all over his face. And flashes of reznovs skeleton or the outline of it. Suggesting that you could possibly find out reznov was dead before you play rebirth.

As I looked at the underdeveloped and second hand weapons, I saw the evil of how Treyarc left out the World at War guns from Multiplayer. At that moment, every fiber of my being yearned to break the disk in half. But I was a Cod fanboy back then. I still believed in $60.

This was one of the best missions in the game. It was a great throwback to World at War. The devs are awesome for that.

The most chilling and pulse pounding level in the game.

Technically this isn't during World War 2. As the war ended two months before this mission.

When I was young and played this mission, back then with my naive self I still got chills from this. I just was to young to understand but even then I just knew something wasn’t right. To this day that mission gives me the chills.

I honestly think this should have been an extra mission in waw. Then in Black Ops, the story continues and so on.

Reznov’s narration by the fire gives me chills… he probably was the only one that gave Mason hope in Vorkuta which is why he couldn’t accept that he was dead the whole time

When the fighting starts there are some snipers with scoped Mosin Nagants they are normally killed and you can take one for the rest of the mission and refill it from the standard ones.

I think this is one of the only missions where you actually fight against allied forces in this series as a nonantagonist force. It blue my mind.

Back when Call Of Duty wasn't money hungry and it's target audience were not a bunch of uneducated bratty 12 year olds. What happened to Call of Duty having respect for it's players?

I miss this kind of story-teller, the one that actually makes you chill to the bone only from thinking about it. FPS genre has come a long way, but there has been very few games where you gotta sit down, listen and try to understand why we have to kill, not just what, when and where. You know, even for Black Ops 2, a game in general, was very unique and fresh at the time, didn't touch a single bit of Black Ops 1 story-telling aspect. You couldn't feel the intense at all when Mike Harper said "Still got mah ball, let's go". Not just Black ops 2, all later futuristic Cod lack of serious, impactful dialogue which kinda added to the ruination of the story-telling aspect. I'm from Vietnam, kind of a dialogue reader and i love Black Ops 1, World At War and Call of Duty 4 for that. Most speech, talks coming from characters like Cpt. Price, Viktor Reznov, Overlord, Shepherd give you very strong impression of the intension of the battlefield. As other people said "the game is playable but the characters are forgettable"

You could guess at the start that sadly Dimitri would eventually die. But to die such an excruciating death, in which his eyes popped before he died...

This mission brings so many memories, it uses the sounds and textures from Call of Duty 2 and World at War. Two my favourites.

Those British commandos that came in at the end were fucking cool as shit. You could see in the cutscene they rode in on Skis. Those guys gave the germans alot of trouble during the war.

Probably one of the darkest missions, along with the other NOVA 6 mission. Not only did Reznov sees his friend, his right hand man die in front of him from his own fellow soldiers due to him getting tested how terrible the gas is to humans.

This and soaps death are the saddest things ever man old cod games can be so good but so sad but I think cod bo2 was the saddest game with woods, mason, and Hudson’s death

I remember playing this as an 11 year old at the time and I got so hyped when I saw Dimitri Petrenko as the guy on the left in the beginning.

Essentially this was the last time Call of Duty went to World War 2...(sorta)

The flashbacks , the cut scenes , the story , characters black ops 1 campaign was truly something spectacular and as a 13 year old i didn’t care to notice now that I’m older You remember how great it truly was . I wish I could re live black ops it was real happy moment in my childhood

When I first played this mission, when I first saw Dimitri's face for the first time, I knew that this was gonna be an awesome mission. I am very sad for the tragic ending

It was a time when CoD series had a really good and meaningful storyline, so sad to see series have no more characters or storylines like this

this was best part of game for me. always grabbing mighty STG and shooting off people's limb, I loved it!

Now to think of it Dimitri really just has the same honest face as Soap. It is sad that such young heroes have to die from some setup and their old captains are helpless.

You can't shoot Steiner or Dragonbitch... because why the fuck not? That would've delayed Petrenko's death.

I know Dimitri is way more dramatic, but it also makes me a bit sad to have to take out British soldiers in this. ;__; They are usually allies if not directly playable in WW2 games, they stood defiant against Nazi regime and helped the Russians/Americans defeat them and they're the only reason Resnov survived... even if he just spent the rest of his life in prison anyway. But then you get to use their sten gun and go pew pew pew which is cool.

This game was the best. I felt like I was playing World at War again. The appearance of the British Commandos was great too, I really hope they make another WWII game with them.

I just gotta say, if they remake World at War with more or less the same story, I really hope Dimitri gets his face and voice added. Frankly, Dimitri and Reznov have some of the best interactions of the franchise and even though it's just for one mission we learn so much about Dimitri's personality and the bond between the two. Dimitri seems to be an introvert and shy outside of being a soldier since he glances at Reznov and turns away when he wants to ask him something but feels awkward doing so but trusts Reznov enough to muster up to ask it. The way the two always seem to look out for eachother is great. Like how Reznov warns Dimitri about Dragovich and Kravchenko or Dimitri gently telling Reznov to stay with him (and Reznov gently telling Dimitri to get ready). The two just want to go home after fighting in World War 2 as brothers but never made it back. They were betrayed and Reznov screaming while reaching out for Dimitri as they were separated is gut wrenching. Even as Dimitri was dying, aside from getting out, the first thing on his mind was getting to Reznov. Dimitri was given an impressive ammount of character than even in the still shots of him and Reznov speak volumes of their dynamic. I really hope we get more interactions of them in the future.

Around 12:40 before you go in to steiner look into the distance towards the ship you'll see about 10-12 german soldiers walking towards the ship. I always just found it interesting that they were just marching towards it.
