DMZ. Like bro I ain’t gonna lie the game mode was so unique and a breath of fresh air for someone who played tarkov exclusively. And everyone loved it yet they abandoned it like a child at the mall
@@emitruoyetsawinehwem4681 Makes me angry that it’s held to such a lower level than Warzone, where they appear to value ADHD-like nauseating gameplay, with “movement demons” who I gun down and just shake my head in disappointment at. DMZ is still playable, but the state it’s in just makes me feel sad, and I wish they could’ve kept DMZ alive, but some mook at Activision doesn’t like innovation, or perhaps so does the sweaty community.
@@Soul-st1ce DMZ actually having stealth as a viable option makes it so fun. I've killed so many 4 man squads as a solo by just employing stealth. The fact that the gas expands outwards, not inwards, meaning you're not forced into 'knife fight in a phonebooth' close quarters like WZ always ends up as, makes it so much nicer, too. Like 8 months after being discontinued, it's still way more fun than anything MW3 has to offer.

There might be a more maps for War because we haven't got any since season 2 and also we haven't got Rangers vs Spetsnaz cuz we had 141 and seals on 2 maps
It's really a shame that they stopped trying to make those other unique, off-the-wall modes like zombies and just resigned to every co-op needing zombies to be successful. Meanwhile they're shoehorning super heroes and monsters into MP and Warzone instead
@@ReplayMode That’s fair, it was a mode I and a lot of others fell in love with. If you ever intend on doing a video on DMZ, definitely reach out to people who played that mode in its prime to learn why we were so fond of it. I always believed that would make a good video.
Co-Op in MW2019 was actually pretty cool, I just feel it was never properly explained like how the enemies spawn infinitely if you decide to camp pushing you to keep moving and get the objective done BUT IT DOESNT TELL YOU THAT.
I put countless of hours into MW2019 spec ops. They did struggle balancing the AI for a long time and I think that's what killed the mode for most. One week you'd have insane bullet sponge juggernauts, next week they'd go down like they never had armor to begin with, and the week after they'd be back to being bullet sponges. I think the raids from MWII were what spec ops wanted to be, co-op with story.
@@ak47domination1 Agreed, I'm not a S&D player cause of the respawn waiting, so Demo was a good alternative. Also this was a mode where I saw dudes actually playing the OBJ on both sides, dudes were really tryna win. Then they took it out of rotation for a not so good mode imo
That MW3 announcement Warzone event was basically exactly what I'd love to see in CoD. Large scale PvE where multiple squads of players get different objectives culminating in a coordinated strike on the final objective.
I bought MW3 exclusively for Ground War. Its disappointing Ground War features just three maps because the mode deserves much more. Since CoD abandoned the mode I will abandon CoD until its return.
Raids was the most fun I had with MW22, it felt like someone at IW actually had fun designing the interesting co-op puzzles that didn't involve mindless shooting
A properly developed survival mode should come back. It was a fan favorite in MW3 and could’ve been expanded so much further. For some reason though, it either doesn’t return, or returns in the most half baked lazy glitchy underdeveloped way possible.
I've never been super into Survival personally, but MWII's Defender missions were pretty fun takes on it IMO. If only there were more than 2 maps for it...
I don't want zombies every year, they don't have time to innovate the mode and just mess it up + it gets boring. Leave it to treyarch and let IW make either spec ops or Extinction. Also survival mode should return like it was in og MW3. MW2019 one was a disaster.
9:10 That's because, according to game files, it was originally supposed to be blackout 2. Activision likely shut down the project because they didn't want 2 battle royale games competing with each other. So they divided the map they had already built into different smaller maps and created fireteam. Edit: After watching your video I got reminded of Warzone 1's forgotten game mode. PAYLOAD I love that mode! Was great for leveling up weapons if you didn't have that years game too (without being boring like plunder)! Limited time only... I miss payload
I still remember back in BO3 where in order to get complete all the calling cards, you needed to play modes like Uplink and Capture the Flag but no one played them. So it was impossible.
I never played a game of war mode because I wanted it to have more maps so I don't get burned out instantly. So, after 8 months I jumped into war and I gotta say... Why the hell didn't they add more maps!? This mode is genuinely good.
I know this video is discussing game modes, but they always are bringing back the same maps too, like you mentioned with gunfight. It is still shocking to me that MW3 2023 has zero maps from the original MW3 from 2011. It’s actually baffling.
Honestly, i'd rather have the original CoD formula than what we have nowadays. By original formula i mean, just have a campaign, a regular 6v6 MP (or 10v10 or 12v12), and a 3rd mode, alongside Warzone too i guess. The problem is that CoD wants to be every game nowadays, but they fail to do so because they don't seem to have enough manpower/time/will to deliver. -Regular MP (+17 maps post-launch, SHG did a great job this year so far) -2v2 Gunfight (+1 map post-launch, forgotten) -War mode (+1 map post-launch, forgotten) -Ground War/Invasion (+0 map post launch, forgotten) -Zombies (every rift is Al Mazrah and MWZ itself is Warzone's Urzikstan, so +0 new maps, it's also on life support with the lack of content updates) Just let Treyarch do Zombies only for their games, and just scrap all the other modes so more resources can be allocated into 6v6 and it's various modes. Also what happened with the slowly carrying-forward MW22 maps? Did they also forget about that?
What the hell was Zombies doing in MWIII-era Warzone when DMZ should have been in its second year instead? Sledgehammer taking over MW from Infinity Ward meant zombies got shoehorned into a different team's game.
Utter incompetence from Activision that MW2's most interesting mode got asset flipped into a mode neither round based zombies players, nor DMZ players liked, then got abandoned of any meaningful updates 1 month in outside of new schematics and 'Al Mazrah maps but purple and with a boring story added' Dark Aether missions.
I think they really backed themselves into a corner by making it part of Warzone in MWII, because now they couldn't continue it as MW3's 3rd mode without taking something away from free players and behind a paywall.
0:14 I remember in the days of the original modern warfare 3 on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 back with call of duty elite which was their first attempt at like a call of duty HQ type app and they had was it 2v2s 3v3s and 4V4s or something on certain maps I enjoyed that a lot back in the day
I generally think big flag cap was rushed because 1st there was no regular predecessor in the game it was introduced and the objective call out sound effects were from mw 2019
I have genuinely never understood why modern games especially either discourage or outright prevent people from playing these modes when it is literally nothing but a net-gain to keep them around and not punishing players in backwards ways (i.e. heavily limited exp, stats not counting, etc.) for wanting to play them. Just through them in the selectable modes in quick play and be done with it, just give US the option!
fireteam in cold war has alot of warzone and battle royale features due to cold war being planned to have a blackout 2 but due to the popularity of warzone they cut blackout and replaced it with verdansk 84
I'll never understand the loss of DMZ. I could've sworn it was really popular and it was literally just an alteration of Warzone. It was only getting better and better with each update and I really enjoyed it. But instead... they just gave up
My favorite was gridiron / Uplink. Being that each team fights for a ball. One person gets the ball and they don’t have guns but just a melee or you could toss the ball at the enemy who’s shooting at you so they hold it and you can then shoot them. Like it was genuinely fun as fuck
MWZ is the best zombies we've ever had. DMZ was almost perfect. Gunfight is the best MP mode we've ever had. Invasion was the most chill MP mode there ever was, and I used to love it.
The one with the suitcase on cold war where one team members had to defend the one with the case before calling a tactical nuke on CW. It was my first nuke on a black ops game. Had it like 3 times.i forgot whats it called again.
They even put Ground War in the beta with 2 of those maps. Making you think it would get the same sort of support as MW2 ground war. Wish they kept the MW2 ground war maps in rotation at the very least. Arms Race from Vanguard dont forget. That mode was incredible in my opinion for a big team mode. Yet launched in S2 of Vanguard with 1 map and received 0 new maps. Kinda sickening when they had something so good to give up at the first hurdle
I think BO6 will do these side modes well because Cold War supported them well. They only left Slasher and One in the Chamber out of their party games tab. Maybe they didn’t get much retention
I loved war mode bc it reminded me of cod ww2 and the fact that it didn’t affect kdr meant you could play casually and level up without worrying about your stats, i wish there were more than 2 maps.
One mode i miss the most was def Fireteam Elimination closest thing we ever got to a Blackout 2 and while it was still alive I always went back to it instead of Warzone
i will always mourn the loss of a good spec ops mode. MW2019 had pretty much the closest we ever had to the original spec ops but with a lot more features. but everyone hates on it and for good reason. it was too damn hard. especially the large scale special operations, which are all a great way to level up your guns if you don't wanna grind on PvP but can be some of the most difficult content we've had in a CoD game in a while. and then MW2 comes out with a lackluster spec ops mode. 3 maps on launch and no survival mode. by the next Infinity Ward game i'm willing to wager that spec ops will be scrapped entirely.
Reinforce was a game mode from ghost. It was a mix of domination and search in a way. You could win the game by capturing all 3 flags at once or killing the other team. Any time you captured a flag, your teammates respawned.
MW3... not MW23... still has the most fun variant of infected... along with Drop Zone and Gunfight's ancestor, Face Off. MW19's infected was a close second, but not getting all maps in infected was a huge disappointment, and drop zone never really work since because MW3 simply had WAY more care items you could get in a care package. And it will always amaze me we never got the Face Off maps in gunfight, or even a perma-list with Face Off. But the biggest missed opportunity will always be the number of things that Extinction could've done if it were given more room to breathe. The cryptids could make for a great traditional horde holdout mode like zombies and keep the L4D style linear missions as well... Add in mod tools and you get a thriving community of people who could flesh it out and give players way more varied experiences to enjoy!
i need raids back man it was so fun and following the story with the buddies is amazing, always wanted to play campaign with buddies like bo3 so i hope we beg raids in mw4
realism mode needs more love I mean I get it wasn't much of difference from mw core but the small things made the mode feel so much different with 1 hit headshots and limited hud so you actually get rewarded playing and aiming and it also had a warzone version which I'm sure 99% forgot existed because it existed for like a week in warzone 1 when Rambo and all that was added
I’m sad you didn’t mention Cyber Attack, Prison Rescue, and Knockout. These game modes had me addicted to mw2 I felt robbed when they didn’t show up in mw3 SND WITH REVIVES AND WAAY MORE TEAMWORK REQUIRED

Them abandoning mwz was the final straw for the cod franchise for me, only way to get me playing a new release is for it to be on gamepass. I’d pay the $10 to give it a trial run for a few weeks. Mwz was the only reason I bought mw3, why else would I buy it? It was literally year two content for mw2 turned into a full release.
To add, they really need to do something about all the playlists that are on at the same time. Makes it so hard to find a game in your ping region, especially in oce for example. I would have to search 200ms as a result of all the playlists splitting the player base.
What about Sabotage?!?! It fucking kills me that they removed that game mode so long ago. My favorite modes have always been CTF, Demolition and Sabotage. Luckily two of those usually are in each game, but Sabotage has been gone for so long and it's a shame because it was the most competitive out of the three modes.
no there were less maps in gunfight on mw3 than mw2 :(((( Since a couple weeks they finally added blueprints after plying with the same guns for all these months
