@@luckydrag7273 not to mention a boring suicide squad/ Avengers with no buildup or reason why their group existed, Laura Bailey playing a russian Abby, explosions that feel more like wet farts, cringe-inducing customization, and a _mediocre_ Zombies map that doesn't even have an easter egg.
I agree, this is a classic game I started playing when I was 3 years old, or so that's what I was told. This game is a banger man, who would ever think either of those two games you mentioned are better. I mean unless you have a little nephew or a son growing up, and one day he asks you "hey pops, what're you playing?" Just say, "War". He probably won't get what you're saying, but it takes less time to explain so you could get back to your game quicker.
The characters were so badass that we didn't even noticed how depressive this game was. it was always "lets kick their asses Reznov", the characters were dehumanized over so much killing and so were we that only after many playthroughts we started to notice that we may have been the good guys but we were still evil.
Uuuuuuuh, yeah, dimitri is in the noble 6 cave, definitely. Don’t go looking for him, it’s a magical place. He’s living with the god emperor of mankind, your childhood dog, mr rodgers, noble six, sanguinius, and good country music in the noble six cave hotel.
"Domine, Requiescat in pace." Lord, rest in peace.: Refers to Jesus' death 'z "Primus inter pares." The one among the equals: One among equals refers to their cause. "Silent leges" The laws be silent: This refers to how laws are silent or are inored during wars "Arma silent, deo." The weapons become silent to God: Refers to the weakness of weapons when facing God "Advocatus Diaboli" Devil's advocate: Refers to the enemy "Deus ex Machina" God out of the Machine: Refers to a person who will finish the war. In CoD: WaW's case, Dimitri. "Mare Profundis!" The deep sea: Possibly the deep sudfering that they endure during the war "In nomine patris, mater" In the name of the father, mother: In the name of the father is the beginning of the Sign of The Cross prayer/literal opening prayer. The mother in the lyrics is unexplained but may refer to the mother that is affiliated with the father "Deo Volente!" To the will of god!: They praise God. nothing more.
@somni The societal venom of "woke" wasn't widely around and artificially pushed into the mainstream yet. So, the world was still largely a sensible place back then. Therefor, they made sensible decisions for games.... which made them fun. Unlike most games (and entertainment) today.
@@finisterre2415 you’re reading facts, mainstream media moved from tv to gaming since gaming for a while now has been the number 1 entertainment method. And when something becomes that popular it becomes mainstream and “wokeness” infested mainstream media years ago and now we see shit like 100s of women on the frontline fighting in ww2 which is the real bullshido
@@ManHamAslume Just don't let them touch any of the dialog, story, weapons, sound effects, enemy api, in-app purchases, gameplay, or voice lines and you'll be fine. If I'm being honest all this game needs is some new special effects and texture overhaul. Its already a phenomenal game, much better than any of the modern call of duty games.
@@cheezit2183 what? It 100% needs an overhaul, obviously don’t change the story or voice lines but it definitely needs new animations, sounds and graphics
@@ManHamAslume it definitely needs new animations and graphics, but I think the sound effects are good enough right now. They’ll just end up adding modern weapon sfx and laser mounts
This game is particularly special to me because it was the one that taught me how to snipe. I always used to just point and shoot. But Reznov's advice made me re-evaluate how I did it, and I tried it out in Multiplayer and I did miles better than I used to. God this game was so good. And look at what heresy Activision has been pumping out recently. WWII was a flop and Vanguard is just hollow.
Vanguard is just: racism bad Nazi bad black man good woman good just a bunch of woke bs hell their a 4 or 8 minute long cutscenes where they just explained why Nazis are bad ( even tho you had Hans Münch )
And Still the best , bro . I haven't seen any WW2 cod game like WaW. Vanguard or WWII should learn not one thing or two from WaW , but they should learn a thousand or two thousand things from WaW xD And that doesn't mean that cod 2 , cod 1 and 3 is bad . Nope they are great Im talking about WaW as its the last awesome WW2 game came. I had awesome nostalgia on cod 2 and how it has great graphics and smooth performance no matter how your Pc is potato xD
@@tyxcz WW2 had real potential, but it really wasn't gritty enough and needed more polishing. Story had some flaws too and the way they forced you to use hitmarkers was kinda dumb ngl.
nah, might be nostalgia, but Modern Warfare (Call of Duty 4, not the one that came out like a year ago or whatever) was a pretty dope game, it deserved its remake
We need a reznov spin off campaign who else agrees it's literally the perfect idea for a ww2 game and I say campaign because because when I think waw I think of the campaign also vanguard left a bad taste in my mouth after that games zombies and multiplayer
@@-WarCriminal-22 yeah the google translates Ura directly to hooray I think in response to this situation we should set a ring of steel around google headquarters
Nothing in modern day does or ever will come close to the brutality that was WW2. Specifically on the eastern front Wars now are over disputes, be it political, religious, or even small disagreements. WW2 Began as a conquest by an overzealous cult. By the closing years of the war it was no longer about capturing cities to expand your border and become more powerful. The only goal left was to eradicate your enemy for your own survival and the survival of your country and its people
I RELIVED MY CHILDHOOD PLAYING WAW AND CRYING AT DOWNFALL, AND THISSSSS!!!!! THIS JUST OPENED UP THE LID OF THOSE EMOTIONS I FELT WHEN I CARRIED THE FLAG AND ALL COMRADES CHEERING "HARRAH" AND PLANTING THE FLAG!!!! MATE YOU JUST EARNED A SUB AND I HOPE TO HEAR MORE FROM YOU!!!!
I love it how this game brutal is! This is how games should be, they were trying to show us the darkness of War. How anyone could lose his beloved ones within seconds. War was never an option, it was a decision has been made by corrupted men
My grandpa fought in Italian resistance in the communist brigade. He fought with might and courage, glory to every red-stared fallen, respect to the others.
world at war wouldve been completely indominable if you could also play as a part of the axis armies. Germans during the blizkreig and operation barbarossa, italians in north africa, japanese in the pacific ending with your character dying in the battle of iwo jima. If it had this on top of what we got it could never be topped
When your game can even humanize every character from the soviets and Americans to the German facists and imperial Japanese by even seeing your enemy throb in pain on the ground making even you regret and even feel guilt and feel sorrow for what you are doing
Dragovich, Krevchenko, Steiner... All must die, but these words weren't be a thing, if Dimitri Petrenko Wouldn't help Viktor Reznov back there in Stalingrad. WaW (the Russian campaign) is a beautiful prequel to BO1. Both of this games are my favourite cod's by campaign. Most memorable, even the soundtrack. WaW and BO1 are the only games I'm going back months after months just to listen this epic metal riffs between classical/folk music. The brutal history with little cinematic aspects is the best thing I experienced in video game, I think we will never be able to get this type of game anymore in times when you cannot even tell the truth publicly without getting censored or even banned.
@@Brekitdec2007 they were never a hero. They treated their troops extremely poorly, providing them with inadequate rations, supplies, and armaments. Any of their soldiers that were seen refusing to advance or retreating were ordered to be executed on the spot for cowardess. Some of their units were made up almost entirely of prisoners of the communist regime they forced to fight and they were treated even worse. The might of the Russian soldiers and their sheer will was respectable, but the actions of their government was not.
When I first played Cold War, I decided to betray Adler, sad they never played this Soviet theme after you get into a firefight with your old ally as a throwback. Awesome mashup btw
@@icyown8463 Oh, not the Soviet anthem, the WAW Soviet Theme. (Although I have watched the video you linked) Heres the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fygxtflbrks.html The sync with the music at 3:12 is insane, the good ending.
World At War to this day is still the best Call of Duty game! Its soundtrack is epic Missions epic Multiplayer epic maps epic And last but not least Zombies epic

@@bulldog6545 yep Basicly this is the history of cod Cod back then: We honor the veterans of WW2 by recreating the war in an interactive way along with creating 2 seperate games with different themes and a seperate gamemode where you survive against the undead Cod now: Haha microtransaction go BRRRRRRRRRR
I am an outspoken anti-communist but i have to give props to the Red Army. They weren't fighting for Stalin, or for the regime they lived under. They fought against insurmountable odds and suffered heavy casualties while their superiors watched from behind defensive bunkers, fully expecting them to die. They fought for their homes and their families when the Germans invaded *Their land. Their people. Their blood.*
the effects of the war were so devastating, so horrid, that its effects are still felt here 80 years later the people serving in our army never serve for their country, or their superiors, or the president, but only ever serve for their people, their families, themselves, for this very reason
True. my great grandfather always told me he fight for Russian people and his land.he hate Stalin and communists, but hitler was more worst than Stalin.
If you listen closely while playing Nacht (I believe the Black Ops version) you can hear the Fall of the Reich play either at random or after Undone finishes playing on the radio in the mystery box room
Dude the couple first seconds fucking gave me GOOSEBUMPS and I felt a chill crawling all the way down my spine and to my arms, and then when the music rose ah the tears
Possible, I've searched numerous sources but all gave me the same lyrics and "Nunc ad bellum" isn't present in any of them. If I did get it wrong, terribly sorry!
@@theeldonte Well, honestly you're probably more correct than I am. The "Nunc ad bellum" part is speculation, and it's mainly because I saw another commenter mention it, and because it fits the song ("Nunc ad bellum" > "Now to war"). But your version is probably just fine. Again, good work,
