Part 2 of Tea Time at the Seminary featuring Father Christos Patitsas is now on RU-vid!
In this second part of a two-part interview, Father Christos explains how his sons founded Saint Paul's Fellowship of Labor, a non-profit Orthodox Christian organization; why he became a member of the Seminary's Board of Directors; and why we must call others to salvation.

Amen! May our Lord Jesus Christ through the prayers of Saint Photios grant us Priests who are well trained in Orthodox doctrine, and radiant with Christian Love for all!

It always seems like the most zealous and fruitful priests are the worst payed. The well-payed ones get comfortable, soft, even corrupt. It becomes a job rather than a calling. That said, I had a conversation about this with my own priest who gets paid the equivalent of a school teacher's salary (which allows him to be a priest full-time, albeit on a tight budget), and he rightfully smashed my romanticized view of the "tent-maker" priesthood - particularly when the priest in question is married and raising children. He told me the worst part about being a poorly paid/unpaid priest is that they work so much they have no time for their family whatsoever. He said it has torn families apart, and has made some priest children hate the Church, not because they hate Christ, but because they hate how the Church - along with the secular profession - took their father away from them almost entirely. To put it bluntly, they came to despise Christ's Church because it was the reason Daddy was never home. Lord have mercy! If you read this Father: Thanks for the reality check. Let's do our best, and repent of our worst, eh?
