Callaway Chrome Soft 2021 Range Complete test are low spin golf balls what we all need. This video is a golf ball review with Mark Crossfield and Coach Lockey giving their opinion on the latest range of premium golf balls from Callaway Golf. There are three Callaway golf balls in their 2021 range, Chrome Soft, Chrome Soft X and Chrome Soft X LS. Definitely got some more distance out of the X LS, maybe because I’m fairly spinny with driver and fairway metals. Feel was good around the greens and I didn’t even lose a ball which is a bonus!! Definitely gaming this ball from now on.

There’s so little performance wise between these balls that all manufacturers are doing is adding a bit of confusion into the mix. The top manufacturers tech is all now so close and on point I bet 99.9% of players can’t tell any difference unless they’re put on a launch monitor to see the data, and then, as coach says, is 100rpm on a wedge really noticeable ? I’ve used Titleist balls for years, I’ll never change, but that’s only because I’m happy with what the balls give me in respect of consistency. I have played a few holes with TP5/Chromesoft/Zstar etc when I’ve found them on course just to see what they’re like and if I’m honest, as a 4/5 handicap index, I don’t really notice much difference at all.

I'm sorry but I have a very high spin around 1200 50 degree wedge shafted for lower spin wedge around 92 mph so today I games this ball and my back spin wasn't a big issue like 12ft back spin more like 2ft ........5 handicapper ............It does fit me very well tomorrow I am going to try them again .......love you guys thanks for all the content

I've played the Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X both quite a bit. I LOVE the mushy feel of the Chrome Soft off my irons and it's always been a longer ball for me out of my irons (because of lower spin) but I also got concerned by the "Spy" report that showed the softer Chrome Soft was slightly shorter off the driver.

Working at a golf shop, I have tried all 3 models. Im not a fan of the soft Chrome Soft. The Chrome Soft X LS, however, was a game changer for me. I liked the clickier feel and sound of it. The Chrome Soft X still spun a little too much for my liking around the greens. I had to change too much of where I wanted to aim and roll out. Great vid though guys! Customers need to go out and test them to see what feels best for them!

All the tips for the bunker play are great. Best tip I ever got was to pretend that the ball is sitting on a tee that is just at the surface of the sand. Keep your lower body still and try to knock the tee from under the ball. Has worked well for me.

I’ve tested all three Chrome Soft variations plus the ERC soft. I’m a 15 handicap golfer using a Callaway B21 driver and Cobra One Length F7 irons. My take: The X spins the most-which is tragic when I put a bad swing on the ball. My power fade becomes a huge slice at that point. Distance-wise the X is shortest for me by far. So, no. No X for me. The X LS feels clicky like the X but is more forgiving overall (not the most forgiving though...). The distance I get on center strikes is longest with the LS-but only slightly longer than the ERC Soft. The ERC is consistently the longest of all the premium Callaway golf balls but I find the launch angle too high at times. The regular Chrome Soft ultimately won me over though: soft feel and very forgiving with driver... plenty of length and on the fairway; consistent distance and dispersion with my irons; great feel and control around the greens; and my preferred feel on putts. Bonus: the Triple Track lines and matching putter has easily saved me 3 strokes per round.

ChromeSoft my x LS I tried these this last week. They were really good! seemed to effectively be a low/mid spin model and tons of speed. I hammered by driver. The cover did seem to shred quite easily

After the debacle a while back with the Callaway golf ball regarding the manufacturing process, I don’t foresee ever playing a Callaway ball again. Titleist, Bridgestone, and Snell seem to be more reliable and consistent in their processes. Moreover, I don’t recall any major mishaps to cause doubt in their processes either. Love my Callaway driver and woods though!

Guys, please sometime doing these tests try to find a green to hit 5-10 balls each 100 yds from range mat and see if 9500 rpm vs 8500 rpm has any difference after flying 5 seconds in stopping power?

Simply looking at the graphs and thinking that the standard deviations cross over or not is not enough for knowing if there's a significant difference, here. If there were only two balls (or clubs when you compare these), a two sample t-test could do, with three or more, you have to use ANOVA (those tests are both available in the analysis toolbox with Excel, no need to do something fancy or go into specialized statistics software).

Pretty much played the same ball from when I first started golfing and was reluctant to change, then played in an alternate shot foursomes and my partner played the chromesoft, hence to say I now play a Callaway ball, generally easier to identify as well as they are not as commonly used as some other brands

regular chrome softs are a special product, iconic even. the x I wanted to like so badly but I did not like it at all. I find the feel of the x is so different from the regular chrome soft for being the same family. I have not tried the LS but I think the z-star is a significantly better feeling ball than the chrome soft x.

I've been playing Chrome soft for a while and love them, started with callaway balls cuz just about every body was using pro v1 and it was just easier to differentiate and mark, I was the only one using callaway balls

I've tried all the big 3 and both versions, TM tp5 and tp5x, prov1 and prov1x and chrome soft and chrome soft x... I prefer the softer balls, feel better off the putter and chipper

They are expensive so I usually use recycled/used balls until I find a new ball for $1 each, top contenders so far are TM RBZ or strata voodoo that ya can get on Amazon for about $1 each

I’m testing the X LS tomorrow morning, I usually game the standard Soft although I’ve played a couple of rounds with the X now and as for feel around the greens I’ve not noticed a massive difference. I shall report back tomorrow #lockeyarmy #callawayeurope

It's spinning at 10k off the face but by the time it's landed on the green, it'll be nothing like that number so I think while the 1500rpm difference sounds a lot, the spin difference on the green will be small. You'll have a bigger spin difference at the green in terms of hitting it low or high, the more time the ball spends in the air, the less spin you'll have when it lands.

Interesting vid. I tried the chrome soft x ls recently, and it's not doing anything for me. I guess there's no substitute for trying things yourself, if you can. I hit on a Trackman almost every day, and I find the firmer balls give me the best ball speed and distance, and I'm only around 100 with a driver. I tend to spin everything too much anyway, so I'll take the extra ball speed. The best ball I have tried so far is the new Pro v1x.

you made an interesting comment about 8:30 in, Have you done any testing on a higher spinning v. lower spinning ball, both being hit from a 'flyer lie" to see if if the higher spin ball does actually provide a bit more spin? That might be an interesting video to watch (for others anyway, I never miss a fairway 🏌🏻‍♂️).

I have played with the chrome soft for a few years now, not the longest ball but love the feel and gives me confidence around the Green. But Iam feeling right peed off now as I have had numerous cracked balls , plane white, truvis, which have let me down, the last one I had just opened and played a tie which went to a extra 6 holes. And what happened it cracked of my driver on the last hole which cost me the tie Has this happen to anyone else.

this convinced me not to be afraid to play the chrome soft. I usually hit a bit longer than most people I play with but my driver swing speed is Def not 117. my total driver distance is normally 280-300 but alot out there had me believing I would be giving up so much by playing a soft ball. and the low spin helps keep the ball in play on spiny miss hits. and I also prefer soft on the green to a ball that springs off the putter and is harder to control. it's all just a give and take.
