Called by the Grave goes into the category of an anti-handtrap. editing by @ParfaitOperationalGuidebook ----------------------------------------- #yugioh #shorts / theduellogs / hirumared / theduellogs
called by is actually a card i like, people thinks that its cancerous for the game as a broken going first card to stop hand traps or else a going second card to stop any immediate follow up. But i consider a million flood gates and a deck that is 1/4 hand traps even worse, and that shit barely ever gets hit on banlists.
Thats because yu-gi players can get very salty because its a card that counters their deck. especially now days that called by is a one of card and you happen to have it at the right time
I mean how can ppl complain how tf else am I supposed to stop you from completely locking me out the game 🤣 we play in a format where you have to play board breaking decks at this point
i agree, but i also think its a card that shouldnt be limited/semi-limited, it feels like a sack when you get hit by it in the tcg, it should either be banned or at 3
I mean its not like its the kuriboh brothers... probably would of been better for sangan or witch of the black forrest. But that would be so f*cked. New protag "I use my new kuriboh varient." Call by the grave...
You say this but called by at 3 just makes wombo combo decks much much better cuz now instead of needing 1-2 handtraps you need 3 to stop them in their tracks
Except they’re not and most decks printed nowadays are more than capable of playing through at least 1 handtrap. If your deck cannot do this, it sucks. Plain and simple. If this card were at 3, no handtrap would ever resolve, which may sound good to you, but would result in extremely long combo decks being played, which I don’t know about you, sounds miles worse to me than getting ash’d every now and again
@@nsalieister3334 I'm under the belief 3 is too strong and 1 is close but a bit too weak. I like 2 honestly. This means you'll rarely draw into both and be able to combo well, but still have to deal with at least 1 handtrap. Especially since most decks can play through a handtrap or sometimes two, but really struggle once the third one goes off.
And the fact how every deck these days is a pile of generically good hand traps, because none of the traps but C are even touched by the banlist. 3 of Call wouldn't fix it, but it'd at least make "drawing the out" easier.
It's too generically good. Your handtraps can only do their thing under certain conditions, but Called By can counter basically all of them with no thought
Probably because it doesn’t just hit hand traps it goes after every graveyard effect so can act as a hand trap itself to disrupt graveyard focused decks
if i'd have a penny for everytime I used Called By to Negate my oponents Ash Blossom just for me to forget it negates it for two turns and get a surprise pikachu face when I try to use my Ash during next turn...
There’s been a couple of situations where I used called by to stop someone’s monsters effect that they have on the field by using called by to banish the same monster name they have in the graveyard It came in clutch I was even surprised by it
It should be at 0 with crossout. (alongside the obvious outliers like the roach in md, shifter, etc), the decks that fold to an ash blossom are either casual decks that this card doesn't help more than the other group: the degenerate combo decks that end on unbreakable boards or literal ftks. The tcg has a couple ftk combos legal at the moment, that see no actual play because of their weakness to common 1 for 1 handtraps, you do not want any cards that patch those weaknesses up existing. Does it suck that Snake Rain for Ogdoadic Venom Reptile pile also gets 4head-ed? Yes, but it's acceptable collateral damage, handtraps are the way we have interaction in yugioh nowadays with the current speed of the game. Also, for most tier 2 decks that aim to actually play yugioh, you can play around them too (going alternative combo lines like a negate before a must resolve search, or for Branded, the deck hit hardest by ash blossom, using the Nadir engine) instead of just drawing green card.
@@bigmen0honestly the only handtrap i kinda disagree with is Shifter. Mainly cause your deck has to be specifically built around it, so its not something that can be slapped into every deck. (Unlike say, Maxx C). But i do get it, i have won plenty of games with Crystal Beasts through just activating D Shifter alone.
@@bigmen0 I've won games due to Ash resolving against Branded, one of the best decks in the format lol. Don't get me wrong, most good decks can definitely play through and Ash or Veiler here, but for other decks, they are held back only by handtraps.
someone please reply to this, i was versing a hero deck he went first, the first card activated the entire match was his poly, he uses poly for a fusion summon, i maxx c, he ash blossoms but i have called by the grave in my hand and it didn’t even give me the fucking option to activate it and he went on to get up DPE
@@neonoah3353 true but that's mostly for going first. Handtraps are, usually, the least of your concern when you're going second, especially post board
@@prosamis that is literally the most common reason given for wanting to ban maxx c, but what if they drop maxx c on top of their full negate board. same with floodgates.
I think it should be brought to three, just because of ash, droll, ghost belle etc. The fact that your searches can be stopped so easily is fine but having an answer to these hand traps should be more readily available in my opinion
Nothing made me laugh harder than when I realized this card is basically kryptonite for any cyber dragon deck. Called By on OG Cyber Dragon and suddenly their entire deck has their effect negated.
Funny thing is, this card have been more universal use than you might think. If the opponent would activate a monster effect and have that same monster in the GY, you can chain CBTG to it to negate the effect. An additional use for it is when you go second, you can throw handtraps in and if the opponent respond with CBTG, it means the opponent cannot respond in your turn with the same handtrap, since CBTG negates all effect of cards with the same name until the end of the NEXT turn.
when it comes to the ban list, CBTG should be at 2. Lots of decks can't function without certain monster effects going off in the graveyard or reviving monsters from the graveyards. Labrynth is one of those decks that pitch cards from their hand to set and activate their traps.
Many but you have to consider how much would they be optimal on your hand and would they screw up your deck consistency if you only have 1 or 2 handtrap against a combo deck with 3 called by you're already lost if you open 3 4 handtrap with no starter you're also lose.
It’s a shame a card like this is limited because of today’s format and meta cards. Instead of limited Ash Blossom and other hand traps, this card gets hit hard. Like seriously, if every hand trap is limited to 1, this card will still see play because it can remove cards from the GY like DD Crow, but might see slightly less play because hand trap are less consistent. And if Konami stops making every card have GY effect, this card will see very little play. This is one of those card that very few duelist will play during caveman Yugioh era.
Honestly I'm gonna say it. It doesn't deserve any hits. It doesn't win games on its own. It doesn't do jack on its own. It requires your opponent to do something. Waking the Dragon or Witch's Strike can be game-winning if you resolve them but they requires your opponent to do something first, why does this card with its meager effect of stopping a single hand trap or single GY effect get limited/semi-limited? Back to 3. Now.
One thing you forgot to mention is that called by the grave can not be used during the damage step to stop effects like honest. Since it doesn't negate the activation of the card only the effect, and only things that be activated during damage step are cards that change attack or defense or cards that negate the activation of those effects.
@@slenderman4788 wrong. The only thing that can be activated during damage step is something that changes attack values like honest or rush recklessly or something can can negate the activation of those cards. Since called by the grave only negates the effects of cards and not the activation it can't be used to stop cards in the damage step.
@@lordvika2526 Not "something" that can negate the activation, only monster effects, unless they also modify atk/def like the "forbidden" cards. For example, My Body as a Shield could not be used in the dmg step eventho it negates activation. Counter traps also work during dmg step regardless.
Still think it should be at 2 or none at all because it has the maxx c effect where it just feels unfair when youre opponent has it when its at 2 you actually play around it
Call by the grave, and ash blossom for that matter, isn’t a card I actively hate because unlike a certain other card *cough cough maxx c* it’s a slight hindrance to your main turn instead of actively giving the opponent the most ludicrous card advantage possible
someone please reply to this, i was versing a hero deck he went first, the first card activated the entire match was his poly, he uses poly for a fusion summon, i maxx c, he ash blossoms but i have called by the grave in my hand and it didn’t even give me the fucking option to activate it and he went on to get up DPE
Still want call by the grave at 2 in TCG man. Theirs soo man decks that pop off and soo many hand traps i feel like putting the card to two would help soo much
This card is: how dare the opponent try to interact personified. I think that this is the next card that should get banned after maxx c gets banned in MD.
The only reason why I don’t usually run called by is it’s limited to 1. Don’t get me wrong It is really good against hand traps but I’d rather put in a card that will have more value like for engine/ extender. I personally prefer talents over called by.
The fact that a counter to all the bullshit like Ash Blossom is banned while Ash and all the others it can counter aren’t, just goes to show why modern yugioh is to big a headache to try to get into again.
This gives me an idea for a new kind of card: _Refused By The Grave_ Quick play spell _Target 1 card in the GY: All cards in the GY with the same name as the target are either added to owners hands or shuffled into their owners decks (owners choice). Until the end phase of next turn, all cards with the same name as the target are, if they would be sent to the GY, instead either added to their owners hand or shuffled into the deck or extra deck (Owners choice). You can only activate 1 “Refused By The Grave” per duel._
@@skiffy8121 Fine, let me try THIS then: _Refused By The Grave_ Quick play spell _Target 1 card in the GY: All cards in the GY with the same name as the target are shuffled into their owners decks. Until the end phase of next turn, all cards with the same name as the target are, if they would be sent to the GY, instead shuffled into their owners deck. You can only activate 1 “Refused By The Grave” per turn._ Better?
it does not deserve to be on the banlist because the hand traps dominate the meta game it's either you get ashed hit with effect veiler etc etc, it's annoying. called by gives people a chance to actually counter hand traps yet every time there is a counter to hand traps it gets hit instantly on the banlist
I think it should be baned or at 3. Because if it is at 1 nobody playes around it and it becomes more unfair than it would be at 3. At 3 you know that your oppnent could have it and so you can play around it
Why do people even hate hand traps? Would you rather sit there doing nothing while your opponent completes their first-turn-kill combo without issue every single time you duel?
Nah, called by at 3. If we're gunna have this saturation of graveyard effects in concert with milling being as efficient as it is, the format deserves more GY hate. And called by is p well balanced all things considered imo
Funny part is that so many decks are trying to stop monster effects they forget to have defense against trap floodgates a couple of my favorite traps to use is traps like rainbow life Thunder of ruler threatening roar and a few more because this card essentially make your whole turn useless there are ironically also the best ways to deal with god cards activate them at the start of your opponents turn and watch them rage as they are helpless to do anything as you keep canceling their turn 😂😂😂
Honestly, because its limited, all the toxic hand traps that made it need to exist should be too. They have lead to so many non games, where i cant play because im being countered, and they cant play because they devoted half their deck to counters.
Still not justifiable to limit a card that much. We need more anti handtrap cards if theyre going to be limited like this. Spoken by a bad deck builder whos decks cant function after one or two negates.😅
I can’t believe it took me this long to find the one smart comment in this section. Called by is terrible card design, and it’s not even once per turn.
