Usually infidelity is a symptom of a bigger issue. For AZ, it was about PTSD from the leg and what she'd lost because of both the amputation and the plane crash.

People who try to blame Callie for Arizona's cheating need to rewatch season 9. Callie had to deal with Mark's death, with Sofia, With Derek's hand, and With Arizona being mad at her FOR CUTTING OFF THE LEG THAT WAS KILLING HER. Callie had to be the strong one for everyone else. And she did it all out of love. Arizona cheated. Arizona cheated after Callie did everything for her. There is no excuse. None. PTSD doesn't make you cheat.
Not that sex is supposed to define a relationship or anything but Callie had been respectful of Arizona's wishes not wanting to have sex because Arizona wasn't really comfortable for a while. Then Lauren comes along and Arizona just gives it all away.
“Apparently, I lost you” gets me every time I watch this. When Arizona says Callie didn’t lose anything, I wanted to smack her. No, Callie wasn’t on the plane, but she lost Mark and she almost lost Arizona.
She almost lost all of her co-workers, her friends! She had to reconstruct Derek's Hand, one of the best neurosurgeons on the country! And she almost gave up hope because of how hard it was. She had to suffer through everyone's PTSD, especially Arizona's, Callie never caused the plane crash and only cut off Arizona's leg when it was Literally KILLING HER. Arizona doesn't get to bitch about Callie, she's been an angel. And airzona destroyed that
Callie definitely lost stuff and you should respect that. But Callie was not on that plane. Generally out of respect for the victims, one should not pretend that one has the same experience. She’s talking about Arizona going through the plane crash and then Callie dealing with everything after cause Mark didn’t die in the plane crash and Arizona didn’t lose her leg in the plane crash it all happened afterwards but I feel like everyone doesn’t see that or just can’t grasp the concept of there’s always an aftermath of trauma after the incident.
This scene made me hate Arizona. Callie has never hurt anyone. Throughout all the seasons she’s been a great person and shows everyone nothing but love and support and all she gets back is betrayal. That’s why Callie is my fav character out of the entire show
Meredith cried over lexie but not infront af anyone, or when someone mention her you could see her face and eyes just change to sadness, Arizina hurt callie by cheating on her.

My ex broke up with me because he never got over something that happened to us very early in the relationship. We lasted five years and whenever we had an argument (completely unrelated) it'd always come back to that specific issue we had dealt with. I wish we'd been mature enough to realize that it was over at that very point, instead of dragging the whole thing for years and years (we even got engaged lol). So yeah, don't make that mistake folks. Find a solution, go to therapy or just end the relationship for everyone's sake.

The exchange between the two of them is so amazing makes me wonder if this was scripted or played by ear. This scene is crazy. They both played off of each other so well.
Fr she’s a surgeon she should know that better than anyone. And Callie took the blame even tho she personally didn’t cut her leg, but she took the blame because she felt bad it had to come to that decision but Arizona had no problem bitching all the time about how terrible Callie was to literally save her life

She humiliated Callie, and made her feel bad all the time about her leg even though Callie wasn’t the one that cut it. I get it it was a lot to take in for Arizona, but Callie was suffering too, she lost her BFF/the father of her child, she basically lost Arizona too since she was doing all that to Callie.
Now actually related to the scene, I agree with Callie 100%. I love Arizona, don't get me wrong, but Callie has never done anything truly horrible to hurt Arizona. When she slept with Mark and got pregnant her and Arizona were broken up. When she cut of Arizona's leg it was to SAVE HER FREAKING LIFE. Callie has never cheated on Arizona, not once, and I hate how Arizona tells her that she lost nothing. Loosing her best friend, the father of her daughter and seeing her own wife go through such horrible things is losing something. Callie has given Arizona nothing but love and support. On the other hand, Arizona ditched Callie at an airport, blamed her for saving her own life and cheated on her. Alright enough rambling from me but I love Calzona and seeing this breaks my heart and I really need them back together.
I also don't understand, how could Arizona slept with Lauren. She always refused to have sex with Callie, for feeling uncomfortable because of her leg, and Callie always showed patience and empathy for her, waiting for the time when Arizona will be ready. And then a stranger just walks in, who she barely knows, and that thing just happens? Where were her scruples then? She didn't feel ashamed of her legs in front of a stranger, but she did in front of her wife? I don't get it. I would maybe understand her cheating if Callie hadn't been on her side everytime she was depressed because of the things she made it trough, or when she had phantom pain... etc. But she was! She didn't give her a single reason to cheat on her, but she did. And after all SHE blames CALLIE for cutting her leg off (not to mention that she saved her life with that)?? Why?? That would be the reason? Now they're even? If she made a mistake, she should be ashamed of herself, instead of blaming her wife for something that's nothing to do with here.
If a partner ever said something like this to me, after everything Callie did for her, it'd be over immediately. No therapy, no do-over's. Divorce papers served ASAP. Callie is a saint for putting up with Arizona's b.s., and keeps giving her chances when Arizona doesn't deserve them.

Ignoring the custody battle, ignoring the whole ditching to go to Africa or whatever. In this moment, the cheating was Arizona's fault, not Callie's. So Arizona has no right to blame her. Yes, Callie was not in the plane crash but she dealt with the aftermath pretty much alone. She took blame from Arizona, she grieved Mark while practically raising her daughter alone, she continued working and went to all the meetings that Arizona couldn't go to. I would rather lose a limb than the father of my child/best friend. I'm not ignoring Arizona's pain or loss here but her PTSD is no reason for her to have cheated. Arizona was in the wrong here, PTSD or not Arizona screwed up and it was not Callie's fault.

Also let's not forget that Callie AND Sofia almost died in the car crash that AIRZONA caused 100%. It's permitted and sometimes even ordered for pregnant women to not wear a seatbelt. Even if Callie was wearing one, Arizona was recklessly driving. And Callie couldn't move her body after she came to. CALLIE HAS PTSD FROM THAT TOO, and it was directly caused because of Arizona, and Callie STILL DID NOT CHEAT. She temporarily lost all movement in her body, almost lost her own life, and that of her unborn Baby's life. And never once did Callie blame it on Arizona, the one person she could've rightfully blamed
So let's timeline some events shall we? Arizona blames Callie for getting pregnant with Mark's baby, basically being "stuck" with Mark's baby, and resents her for it, calling it a "bisexual's dream" that she gets to have the girlfriend, and her baby, and her male best friend in her life all at once. (Before I get called out for it, yes, I realize that Arizona has moved past that by now.) Then Arizona causes a car crash that almost KILLS Callie and their baby, which Callie has never, NOT ONCE, blamed Arizona for. Then there's the plane crash, where Callie makes a very hard decision to save Arizona's life by cutting off her leg. Then she has to deal with Arizona's PTSD over the plane crash and the amputation, while Arizona literally treats her like shit through the whole process, and Callie is the understanding wife, as usual. (Again, before I get called out for it, Arizona has every right to have PTSD over the ordeal, but she does not have the right to literally scream at Callie ever chance she gets when she's doing EVERYTHING SHE CAN TO HELP.) THEN, after MONTHS of not having sex with her wife, she goes and cheats on her with LAUREN, this complete random stranger. And then has the audacity to say that Callie hasn't lost anything and that she wants the "street cred" of the plane crash. So yeah, I have a hard time feeling bad for Arizona in this scene. And it's why I am constantly on the fence with her.
I'm so pissed at Arizona for blaming Cali for the fact that she cheated. Yeah Cali wasn't on the plane with her but she has been there all the way and has done nothing but love her and bend backwards to do anything to make her happy. And what does Cali get Arizona cheating on her.
the court thing was farrrr from callie's fault she offered numerous time to talk that whole episode she did nothing but ask to talk about and arizona did not listen once. and arizona cheated. and you want to know how she was able to do that? because she was alive and who made the call that made it that way....callie. but arizona can't do anything but see it as a negative thing. she can run and walk with the prosthetic leg she has. and bringing up the past is dumb because callie has completely changed

When Arizona was like "I lost Mark, you almost died..." The way she said that about Mark was like Mark was a completely insignificant person to Callie, to everyone, it was like she was mimicking or making fun of Callie. Also all this you lost nothing, I did... I would much rather loose a body part than my best friend and Mark was more than just Callie's best friend, he was Sofia's dad, was there for Callie through anything even before Arizona was on the show, if someone said that to me and blew off my best friends death like it was nothing I would not be happy, I probably would never ever talk to them again. Yes I get she was there in the woods and in the plane and it would have been a horrible experience to live through, but the outcomes of that crash were worse than the crash itself. Tiffany Stinnett I disagree. Callie never had Mark on the side, she never cheated on Arizona with him. She first had a sexual relationship with Mark way before Arizona was in the picture, way before she even started dating women for that matter. By the time she has met Arizona and they started their relationship, Mark and Callie were very good friends and had seen each other through a lot. The only reason Callie has sex with Mark again was because Arizona left her because Callie was "ruining her Africa experience". Arizona left Callie and then came back expecting everything to be the same. Callie never lied to her, she made it perfectly clear that as far as she was concerned their relationship was over. Arizona made the choice to accept the fact that Callie was pregnant with Mark's baby. All this had already been resolved. Also there's no concrete evidence to suggest that Callie put Mark ahead of her relationship. Mark was an integral part of Callie and Arizona's lives, because he was Sofia's father and wanted to be a part of his childs life, as well as his friend's. Again all this was done in the open so no reason for Arizona to be resentful. If there's anyone in this relationship that doesn't deserve the other, it's Arizona. She's rash, resentful and constantly changes her mind. Also putting blame on the other person for cheating is just classic cheater behavior, no more, no less.

What gets me every damn time is the RESOLVE that comes over Callie. The way the initial hurt melts off of her face when she gives that last line.. the understanding that “it’s over.” … absolute ouch.

Yes, you were on the plane and you heard Meredith cry, Mark moan and yourself scream and that was all so traumatic but you do not get to use that to justify your cheating, girl! Every single chance she got she threw callie cutting of her leg in her face. She did that to save your LIFE! This is one of my favorite scenes. Callie is amazing in that scene. How can somebody cheat? I mean really just leave or at least communicate. Callie has been good to Arizona but Arizona hasn't been so good to Callie. They both love each other and I believe they belong together.
I understand where Arizona is coming from because throughout season 9 Callie did constantly act like she was there but she did lose a lot. Not to mention Arizona always blamed Callie for what happened when she knew it wasn’t her fault.
Callie shouldn't have made that experience about her BUT DON'T CHEAT ON HER FOR IT! Team Callie all day long, even when she was trying to get custody of Sofia. She gave Arizona everything and worked so hard to save that marriage but Arizona just didn't reciprocate and then wondered why they weren't together. She shut her out time and time and time again.
wether or not you agree with one of them or the other you have to agree that sara and jessica were so good in this scene. like you could feel every emotion they had and the way it just all flowed together and how they bounced off each other. it’s a powerful scene.

She lost Mark.She had to make the descision about the leg because it was going to kill you. She thought Arizona was going to die, and everything she did she did out of love.
Arizona is so fucking ridiculous! I love her but, she is missing the biggest picture of that horrible plane crash. Yes losing her leg was tragic, but at least she got to live. The same can never be said for Mark and Lexie. And did she ever once think on how she dealt with losing her leg changed not only her life but Callie's as well? She got to go home, to see Callie and their daughter. Lexie and Mark never got a chance for any of that. So I am with Callie on this.

I agree with you, i think cheating is stupid and awful, but I dont think aruzina really meant it. I think she was lost and really upset after the plane crash. Which I'd be traumatized asf too after a plane crash, thats why I dont get on planes.
And it always comes back to this! Callie! The look on Callie's face was convincing like WOW! we are so so back to square one on the freakin leg Arizona.
Arizona sucks. She should be glad Callie wasn’t on the plane and sensitive to the fact that Callie lost her best friend/the father of her child due to the plane crash, made a tough decision that saved Arizona’s life and saved their daughter from losing another parent, and that Callie took care of her well she was recovering from the amputation and the trauma. Callie has every right to be so hurt and affected by the plane crash.
But we always see Callie's pain...ALWAYS. From season 5, it's been about Callie...losing George, coming out to her father, being broke, their break up (largely seen from her perspective), getting pregnant, car crash (again about callie) and now the plane crash. We are reminding all the time that she lost Mark, she had to cut off the leg (I agree), but this plane crash is the one thing that Callie DID NOT EXPERIENCE. She felt the affects but the actual event. Arizona needs to feel to.
Absolutely true, I wrote this a decade ago before we saw all the stuff after, Callie basically gutting herself to keep Arizona. They should have stayed broken up the first time. I always thought Callie loves too hard and loses herself…I don’t know if we’ve seen her grow…even when she left seattle…it was to chase a person who left her for their dream job. Y'all. Let's review. Because of Arizona wrecking (which was an accident), Callie lost the ability to have more kids when that was all she ever wanted. Not only did she lose her ability to have kids ... she lost the first few weeks of Sofia's life because she couldn't hold/interact with her as she healed from a traumatic brain injury and infection. She didn't get to breastfeed. She didn't get to bond. She lost her time with Sofia and then couldn't have more kids. And never ONCE did she blame Arizona for that. Not once. She never gave up and she pushed and pushed and pushed herself to heal so that she could walk down the aisle and marry Arizona. Then Arizona was in a plane crash (also an accident) and Callie had to make the gut wrenching decision to save her life by having Alex remove Arizona's leg. And what did Arizona do? She blamed Callie, screamed at Callie, abused Callie, withdrew from Callie, withdrew from Sofia ("I think Mark would want you to pick up your daughter when she's crying!" Your daughter. Not ours.), and fired every nurse who tried to help Callie take care of her. She withdrew and withdrew from Callie and withheld sex ... only to turn around and sleep with a complete stranger. Then that wasn't enough. Oh no. She also started an affair with a younger coworker and slept with her multiple times which led to Callie losing her cool and being written up at work. Then ... THEN ... Arizona sued Callie for custody and took the only kid Callie will ever have. So, when Arizona is screaming about getting a bone saw and taking off Callie's leg ... maybe she should remember that she took Callie's ability to GIVE LIFE which is so much bigger than losing a limb. Callie lost a heck of a lot, too. A whole heck of a lot ... and she was still there for Arizona and supported her and loved her. Arizona can't say the same.

I get that everyone wants to be mad at someone but unless you lost a leg, been in a plane crash , or dealt with the person choosing your fate being your wife then none of us could really judge Arizona's actions. I do understand why Arizona cheated but I also understand why it isn't really Callie's fault. The thing is people change with trauma and Arizona changed just sucks Callie got caught in it. I love Arizona so much and the show tries to show all sides of feelings and people so people make mistakes and innocent people get hurt on accident. I just feel we shouldn't judge either women's actions.

Right?! And that's SO incredibly hurtful for your own spouse to hear you say, again and again and again. Callie is hearing Arizona say that she'd rather leave Sofia without a mother than live without a leg. She'd rather leave Callie forever than live without a leg. She rather Callie be a widow and a single mom and be without her and Mark than live without a leg. Just because Arizona's trauma was valid, it didn't make her response to it any less selfish and hurtful.
Can we talk about how unlucky Callie is? When she was married with George he cheated on her with Izzy, they tried to keep it a secret and failed (not even talking about the public humiliation from Izzy towards Callie with the "fight scene") . Then Hahn came and she left because of the Izzy/Danny incident without saying anything to Callie and that was her first girl crush. Now this? I like Arizona but she was responsable for the car crash, Callie never blamed her. She was mean to Arizona during the time she had to get her strength back sure but she didn't bring it up 24/7 like Arizona with her god damn leg. Honestly, I've felt the same way whenever Callie would talk about the plane. I always felt weird that no one ever commented to her about it. Like when they got the judgment about the settlement, it was like she won and was all excited... while the ones 2ho were there were just kinda... numb #TeamAZ

I really like that Callie knew, just knew, the truth. She didn't suspect and ignore it. They didn't drag it out. She was smart enough to see the obvious. Usually, they drag these reveals out for weeks or months. Also, while I love Arizona and she is 100% responsible for her actions, I have to say I hate the doctor she cheated with. She was so damn pushy. She knew Arizona was married but sensed she was in a vulnerable place mentally and emotionally and she kept going after her, pushing her to cross a line that shouldn't be crossed. If it had been a situation with a man doing that to a woman in Arizona's frame of mind, people would have been ready to skin him. I think the female doctor is just as bad. I mean, you meet someone, you find them attractive, but if you find out they are married or involved with someone, if you are a decent person, you back off.
I sympathize for both of them. Callie went through a lot because of the plane crash but in some ways I understand what Arizona was mad about here. She shouldn’t be blaming Callie for losing her leg, but Callie during season 9 was constantly talking about the plane crash so I get why Arizona was made in that sense but not the other stuff.
I’m on both of their sides, this scene is so powerful. Callie was so quick to tell Arizona to snap out of it and pull herself together after the crash and wasn’t really thinking about how it mentally affected Arizona. But I also think Arizona shouldn’t blame Callie for cutting off the leg because it was the only option and she couldn’t let her die. It was an impulsive reaction during surgery when she gave Alex the order and it saved her life. Their relationship was so impacted after the crash and I think Arizona lost control and was grieving from lack of trust that Callie showed over the leg when she promised they wouldn’t amputate. They both have a right to be mad and both were being misunderstood. Callie also lost her best friend Mark and was put into a horrible position following the crash, but she also shouldn’t have acted like she was there through all of it and knew exactly what Arizona was feeling and she should have done more listening and less talking. Arizona needed her as a wife as well as her doctor, but those points weren’t quite met.
This entire fight could’ve been eliminated had they communicated feelings more often EARLIER and in a healthy way. Arizona cut off communication with the leg issue (remember when she went silent) and Callie cut it off when she was struggling. They both cut off communication
“Who cares if you lost your best friend and the father of your child?! I lost a leg!” That is both a horrid thing to say, and a pathetic way to justify having an affair.
See how they were arguing about Arizona cheating and then she manipulated the argument and turned it around to being about her leg so she looked like the victim in the situation.
I hated Callie so much that season!! She was all happy when they won the money... yay! And how she kept acting like she was involved... but Arizona was right... she wasn’t on the plane!! She can’t pretend to know what they were going through... yes she lost mark... but she wasn’t in the same league and just pissed me off when she kept trying to involve herself

& just for her outrageous shamelessness in spite of the hurt that she caused, I really want Callie to knock (literally) some tough sense into Lauren..maturity be damned!
Just to clarify, I am very much on Callie’s side in this argument, however, over the seasons, my anger at Arizona faded and I think Callie was the unfair one in the custody episode in season 12. But if someone had yelled and blamed everything on me the way Arizona did to Callie at I would’ve left her right then and there. Just out of anger. If someone can’t see that they’re not the only one who’s in pain and suffering, said so many hurtful words to me, and treated MY BEST FRIEND’S DEATH AND MY PAIN AS IF IT WAS A JOKE, I CANNOT AND WOULD NOT FIND RESPECT FOR THEM EVER AGAIN. IF I WAS IN CALLIE’S SITUATION I WOULD JUST DIVORCE ARIZONA AND NEVER TALK TO HER AGAIN. So no matter what my opinion is, I just want to say Callie is so strong to just not break down and leave.
I can see the situation from both POVs.I think that Arizona is destroyed.Totally After the plane-crash,and the leg,she lost herself.She wasn't Arizona Robbins anymore.And Callie.. Callie did what everyone else in that situation would have done:she saved the love of her life.And she tried to make her feel better.But Arizona was too much destroyed.She cheated not bc she doesn't love Callie anymore,but bc she is totally out of control.She needs to find herself again.Can't wait to see season 10!
Let’s not forget that Arizona would have never lost her leg if she had been on that plane. She took Alex’s spot to spite him for wanting to go to a program that will benefit HIS career and future. Also, she is the reason that the hospitals insurance did not pay the plane crash victims. There were only supposed to be two attending’s ( Derek & Mark) on that plane. She jeopardized the whole thing as soon as she decided to get on that plane. Seattle Grace went bankrupt since the hospital wouldn’t cover the settlement through insurance. That’s what caused Pegasus to be involved basically forcing them to use their settlement money to buy the hospital. Yet she blames Callie for everything. It’s not like Callie cut off her leg for fun. She did everything to save her life. And in return she gets cheated on. How disgusting. Anddddd Arizona almost killed Callie and Sofia in the car accident. Yet she doesn’t take responsibility and says it was an “accident” and “the car came out of nowhere”. Callie didn’t blame Arizona once for the accident either.
Everyone who is against Arizona you all have to remember she had ptsd that was left untreated and when u r left untreated you do stupid things like cheat!!! She should of went to see a therapist right after the plane crash!!!
Jcap Fan forever are go good?? She fucking cheated on her wife. No one told her to do it, the ptsd didn’t make her do it, she knew knew exactly what she was doing. Arizona made a conscious decision and she cheated. There is no excuse for cheating.
I definitely can’t defend Arizona here. She said that Callie didn’t lose anything but she did, she lost a lot of things. Her ex-husband cheated on her with Izzie right in front of her and then he got hit by a bus and died. Callie almost died in that car crash along with her baby and that was indirectly Arizona’s fault. Then she lost Mark, who wasn’t just the father of her daughter, he was her BEST FRIEND! and Arizona almost died in the plane crash. Callie didn’t have another choice because Arizona’s life was on the balance, and instead of at least saying “Hey thanks for saving my fucking life even thought you HAD to cut of my leg so a wouldn’t DIE” but no she decides to CHEAT on her instead. Arizona lost her leg but Callie lost so much more and she never blamed people or betrayed them because of that.
I actually really get this. Because Arizona suffered from severe PTSD from it and there were moments where Callie would go "get it together come on" and she just put up with it. I get why Arizona did it and Callie did act like she was on the plane.
there's no excusing Arizona's cheating. But I understand why she did it, and Callie literally acted the whole time she suffered as much as Arizona did.
She had to deal with the aftermath. With te ungrateful bitch of a wife, to raising her child on her own practically, to loosing her best friend, going out of her mind wondering if they were ok or not. Cristina was on the plane, but you don't see her cheating. You don't see them cheating, but Arizona.
Callie clearly has pain and grief from what happened. She wasn’t in the plane crash but she lost 2 people she loved; Mark and Lexie. Callie loved Mark as a friend but also he is the father of Sofia. He loved both Callie and Sofia. Callie should not have been blamed for saving Arizona’s life and I understand that Arizona has pain too but you shouldn’t cheat on your wife because of that. I’m always going to side on Callie.
Going against the grain and saying I despise Arizona. I have from the beginning. She has every right to have PTSD, yes, but that gives her NO RIGHT to treat Callie so terribly when all Callie did was save her life. She does not get to say she cheated because Callie saved her, nor that Callie lost nothing when Mark died. Arizona is nothing but whiny.
This scene made me hate Arizona. This was cruel and Callie didn’t deserve it. The plane crash and amputation is no excuse for cheating, and this is classic gaslighting here. Arizona blaming Callie for her own BS actions. I also think I’m the only one who doesn’t think Callie ever acted like she was on the plane. She was trying to support her wife and be there for everyone and she never talked like she was there. Arizona is projecting that onto her and now everyone thinks so just because she yelled it. I’ve always loved Arizona until now. They were the best couple on the show.
