Dr. Shannon Curry , the psychologist hired by Johnny Depp, responds to the questions of Amber Heard's lawyer. My reaction #AmberHeard #JohnnyDepp #ShannonCurry #Trial
The “you’re not board certified, are you?” question really annoys me. Only 4% of psychologists are board certified. This is like saying a teacher isn’t a real teacher because they don’t have a PhD.
Yeah but the average juror probably wouldn't know that so this piece of crap lawyer, devoid of any better tactics, banks on said ignorance for the upper hand..
@@QuadLamb Yeah, except that as a lawyer if you’re going to try to discredit someone’s occupation and findings you should probably, ya know, provide the evidence to validate your accusation. They weren’t able to and instead focused on ad hominem attacks. Very unprofessional.
This is still comedy gold. "I interviewed with Mr. Depp's legal team" "So you met with them BEFORE they hired you!?!" "Yes.... because it was an interview"
Psychologists are pretty much aware of all the petty tricks people like this try to use to spew information or contradictions out of them because the are clinically trained to understand and analyze the physical, emotional and behavioral aspects that could play a role in someone’s mental state. The lawyer is a fool to think she can manipulate a psychologist of all people, psychologists know what’s up
I would understand like 6 months, a year mb 2, but 8 years is a significant portion of time, not ultra experienced and whatnot but plenty enough experience to do the job and she did the job amazingly
That's the point: it's not. It was said for the sake of the jury to try and establish, before any real info is shared, that she's not qualified. Also to potentially fluster the witness. It obviously backfired
This psychologist is incredibly quick-witted. She saw right through the BS and wouldn't let her answers be misinterpreted, not even a little. That's a good doctor, right there.
I appreciate her saying "that is not correct" and "that is incorrect" instead of just giving the correct answer. It really hammers home how many times the lawyers try to make shit up.
Yesss she tried to make her give an explanation so she could twist something she would say, that's why a lot ot the time when she said "correct" and try to expend on the matter the lawyer cut her off, ahe Just trying to manipulate her 🙄
This still cracks me up😂 The attorney trying (and thinking) she has a “gotcha!” moment, only to get shut down EVERY TIME. Attempting to manipulate a trained psychologist will get you no where. AH probably went with this attorney because she COULD manipulate them 😂🤣
Compared to the Psycologists that AH Lawyers hired, this lady was pure professional. The ones the clowns hired were all part of the same clown club. Hilarious and unprofessional.
The psychologist just OOZES confidence, so calm and collected. The way she carries herself, and not allowing herself to be subjected to the reverse psychology questions is amazing.
This is a textbook example of how to respond to a "hostile" attorney's question trying to impune your reputation. You do not become defensive which has the effect on a jury of making them think you are trying to hide or misrepresent something. You give straight yes or no answers and never explain anything beyond the direct answer to the question.
The psychologist is not only an honest person and a professional in her field but is also a phenomenal witness. She handled herself excellently on the wintess stand.
the smug look on the psychologist's face is amazing. she knows how all of this works and just is not fazed one bit by this lawyer's questioning. i love it.
This lawyer was stupid to try to manipulate a psychologist. If ANYONE is going to catch manipulative tactics and mind games, it is going to be someone who is an expert of the mind. I don’t know what she was thinking lmao.
Just because you are a psychologist does not mean you perform well under pressure. It is one thing to do a professional assessment, but something entirely different to be interrogated. These things have very little to do with each other. The fact that she remained so calm and well-articulated has much more to do with being prepped and having earlier experience with judicial proceedings. Psychologists are not super heroes.
This is how you handle yourself in court. You don't get flustered, you don't come off as arrogant, and you don't volunteer any information that wasn't asked.
unless its beneficial info like the dinner being an interview to get hired and not some random or sleezy dinner invite like the lawyer was trying to portray it as.
Shsnnon Curry and Camile Vazquez are both terrific individuals. Seeing women tear down the false image that Amber was trying to portray is what made this court case so magnificent. I feel bad for Amber's lawyer, she knew she would lose but had to try to win this. Even if it meant using underhanded tactics.
I think I hate the lawyer so much because she reminds me of so many teachers I had growing up that used the same manipulation tactics because they couldn't get a room to engage with them.
The fact the lawyer treats her with disrespect and below her when she states she doesn't know what something means because it's a legal term. Disgusting.
To be fair that's all lawyers. They're scum. If you don't give them their desired response they'll ask the same question 100 different ways to try and trip you up
I recall watching this live as it happened - and laughing at the word salad from this lawyer. She attempted to manipulate and twist everything and wound up making herself look like a fool. Dr. Curry was so calm, cool and collected and was clearly far superior in every way to this bumbling, inept attorney.
It's hard to tell the truth when you are being setup by logical fallacies to help bend your words to make it seem like there is another story there. In other words, she had to put a lot of energy into recognizing the traps and then not faltering or getting the details fuzzy.
My husband is a therapist and one thing lawyers don't realize is most therapist aren't interested in siding with anyone, they are only interested in telling their truth and I think that's why this woman did so well as a witness.
This is true I have worked for about 12 years and often nurses go as well. We just tell what happens as we saw it. We aren't friends with anyone and mostly just want court to be over.
This lawyer honestly disappoints me, the fact she tried to manipulate a psychologist just shows how low she would go to get Amber Heards way in the court
The sad part is lawyers like these get away with this shit as most regular people crumble under the pressure giving playing into the lawyer's manipulations.
Her resting smirk is unreal! The way she answers “that is not correct” is 100% exactly what you’re supposed to do. It clearly highlights the number of INCORRECT statements this women made. I love how she tried to use psychological tactics on a psychologist. Amber’s team has NOT A SINGLE VALID ARGUMENT
I feel so sorry for the jurors. Their jobs, their families, their recreation are denied them while the lawyers waste time with these foolish questions.
@@chefchildbeater2900 yeah but she does her job well. You’re overlooking the fact that there are plenty of psychologists out that wouldn’t be able to hold themselves as well as she does.
This psychologist has done more for her field than anyone else by testifying. She is simply brilliant. Kudos to her. Kudos to Depp's legal team for hiring this gem. And thank you Amber Heard and lawyers. You are doing a great job messing up.
😂 Lols Exactly My thoughts The doctor Was Brilliant Never lingered Away From her Stance The Tests Dont Lie Presented the Facts Thank you Brilliant Doctor. was Quite Annoying Amber Heards Awful Foolish Lawyer that doctor Saw Right through ambers Lawyer lol 🤣 made her look like the team of Clowns they are representing A Psychopath
Why on earth would these lawyers put this woman on the stand? She’s the exact opposite of what you would want on the opposing defense. She’s extremely well prepared and tactical. She’s just perfect
Well, this was the cross-examination. So Heard's lawyers didn't put her on the stand - it was Johnny's who did that Unless I misunderstood what you said That's actually said in the video. It's about how Dr. Curry met Johnny's legal team to figure out if they wanted her as a witness
Nothing with putting her on the stand i.e. cross examining. The problem is that instead of attacking her opinions using their expert to help, they tried to manufacture a series of biases that they couldn't support with evidence.
She's a witness for Johnny not Amber. I think A's lawyers should have just let her testify without the cross. It really doesn't help her case at all, I agree 100 %.
when Ambers's lawyer tried to almost belittle and speak to her as if she’s lesser than or equal to the less intelligent for not understanding terms that aren’t exhibited in her profession rides me up the walls.
It's not her answers or her willingness to call the lawyer out, it's the perfect confidence and authority she does it with. If she'd seemed more timid or flustered that lawyer would have felt totally comfortable talking over and bossing her around. But because she's sitting there like an absolute queen the lawyer just looks like she's trying to puncture a brick wall with a bent needle.
I absolutely love how the psychologist looks like she is internally laughing at the lawyer’s attempts. She’s looking at the lawyer like “you have no idea what you’re talking about.” 😂
@@rochellee7 I think she has Alzheimer's tbh that or she was one of those kids that got told you can't get blood from a stone and she started stomping her feet "YES I CAN!"
Just a question and answer session in an attempt to uncover motivation and emotional state of mind. No one here 'wiped the floor' in any respect. Lawyer did a great job questioning, psychologist did a great job answering. To suggest otherwise only shows your particular bias in this case.
Yes. Shes so likeable. Gives an air of confidence abt the facts w/o arrogance. Makes her believable. She refrains from mocking the lawyers obvious frequent blunders & manipulative repetitive questions. Her face & tone doesnt reveal much deserved frustration. I'd have been rolling my eyes 🙄at some of those questions...and likely given them my " are you stupid" look too!🤣
I absolutely love the confidence in this woman. She knows exactly what she’s doing. So much respect for her. (I’m talking about the Psychologist, btw.. lol)
@@user-fw3sw7qx1u exactly! So much stress comes from bullshitting. You can be confident in life when you know you’re always honest. You may have to deal with the consequences of that honest, but at least you always have your integrity!
Watching this I’m just She’s pretty She’s smart She knows how to deal with.. these kinds of people She’s in a field of study I find interesting She gives just the right amount of info in just the right way She doesn’t let wrong stuff slide Just, aaaaaa this lady is so cool if she was a character in a show she’d be my favorite
She’s so confident and isn’t afraid to admit she doesn’t know things or missed something, this woman gives off vibes of being sure of herself or at least she’s able to be strong when needed and I just really admire that
The way AH’s team tries to discredit witnesses so ridiculously is so interesting to watch. They have nothing except getting aggressive and focusing on nonsense.
they are very aggressive with professionals or regular blue/pink collar folks it's actually extremely unlikable and show exactly what the psychologist said: blame shifting. AH lawyers are sooo unlikable
Went through the courts with an ex. A yr later I had a lapse in judgement and got back together with her, temporarily.🤦 She then told me how the lawyer straight up asked her to tell them the truth about the lies she made up against me so the lawyer could come up with a proper game plan. Not all lawyers are bad but many will sell their soul for a case win that's rewarded by a big payday.
That line of questioning is so obvious it's laughable. That lawer has the typical behavior of people who are convinced to be smart, thinking everyone else is stupid.
@@cinnamonstafford2171 It doesn't really matter, she is under no obligation to read things aloud for the lawyer (who can obviously read it her self if it were important). The lawyer wanted to put words in her mouth by asking her to read something aloud.
As a professional psychologist, she has the skills to listen and communicate clearly, and to dismantle error without becoming emotionally reactive. People lacking these skills can succumb to the word games that legal professionals are adept at playing.
Great string or words there! "Dismantle error without becoming emotionally reactive". I'd like to think I have that skill, but I could be better. Problem is when other people get heated and rude, I give it right back to them.
When they ran out of arguments (or didn't have any to begin with), Amber's Team always immediately attempted to discredit the witnesses. Quite an obvious pattern. Too bad it never worked.
I cannot express how happy I am at watching Heard's lawyer fumble their way through this-- and I absolutely have the highest respect for Dr. Shannon Curry-- she was poised, calm, concise, intelligent, focused-- it was just wonderful watching her exhibit a keen insight into sidestepping every single trap this annoying lawyer kept laying at her feet.
She's is actually answering accurately how you should answer in a court without being falsely held by any misunderstood words that can be used against you. She simply says "it's incorrect" instead of correcting the lawyer which is brilliant because by that you are not letting the lawyer put words in your mouth but making the lawyer talk.
I believe that's the standard procedure in a real court, because lawyers have to find specific facts as being true or false to make a legal argument. So she's not doing anything special, she's simply good at following official instructions of the court. If she was doing anything else, the judge and the cross-examination lawyer would not be pleased!
That is the standard behavior in any court. People at the stand are there to ANSWER the questions and not to simply talk or to correct anyone. The witness is there to support the lawyer's point of view. That is why they are not allowed to say anything they are not asked.
Standard procedure. She's saying "that is incorrect" and it definitely makes you think it's much more powerful than "no" but they're the same thing. Unless the lawyer asks for you to tell the story, yes and no are all they want. It's up to the other sides lawyer to step in and object if they believe the lawyer is hiding facts or trying to lead a false narrative. In this case, ambers lawyer is inept so depls side doesn't have to say anything lol
She was only emphasising on the word "coincidence", "coincidental" and the like. The logical sequence in the reasoning ability of the attorney was somewhat lost here.
@@pallabidutta968 It was hilarious. As if the only alternative to coincedence would be "conspiracy". I wonder if "because two people independantly arrived at the truth" ever entered her mind.
@@Mariana-ym6zf that is what I keep thinking as well. But I wonder if part of why they seem so incompetent is because their client lied to them about what happened.
Watching this live was really as good as any movie. I loved this hearing and this lady who just showed an educated composure can destroy deadset leeches
This psychologist is VERY intelligent and has superb language and communication skills. She is obviously very aware of the lawyer's attempts to manipulate her testimony through specific use of language. It's a pleasure to watch someone who is that skilled and intelligent.
It's even worse than that.... Heard's lawyer is twisting the words of Depp's lawyers in the filing about psychologist's report. Psychologist is standing her ground, stating clearly --- "My assessments are in my report" --- with a tone that implies, "So ask me about my report, bitch. Don't ask me about what some other lawyer wrote!"
love the way shejust says "no, you're wrong" and leaves it there for everyone to take in, forcing the lawyer to fumble for another approach or question to show that SHE's the one fumbling, not Dr Curry trying to justify herself.
Damn this psychologist is not playing. She just made AH legal team sound like a bunch of morons with fake degrees which honestly, I would actually believe at this point if they did in fact have fake degrees. Kudos to her. DEPP has a wonderful team and if he somehow loses well let’s just say a lot of people will want to see some change in legal system as honestly this case is already solved
Funny how it takes celebrities losing a case to make ameritards realize that their judicial system is a clusterfuck made to only serve the rich and powerful
You don’t have to be BOARD certified to be a psychologist, only a few specialists are (e.g., neuropsychologist, gero psychologist, etc). Loved the way this psychologist carried herself.
Board certification requires education, testing for knowledge and clearly defined ongoing annual attendance at education classes so as to keep up with ongoing changes in the disciplin. Just saying you are a psychologist is not enough.
@@Georgie2047 I think a regular degree has enough proof of education and knowledge. Ongoing classes probably teach minimum discoveries at best like trivia. Any real breakthroughs would be known by all anyways
Dr Curry was amazing. The best was when the lawyer attempted to bring into question the test by asking "The mmpi-2 is not the most recent mmpi, is it?" and Curry instantly fired back "No, it's the most researched"
Yep she lol 🤣 got things turned around on her real quick this doctor is actually very good she knows her stuff Lols 😂 she wasn't taking None of their crap Lols The lawyer looked like a fool I'm like What is Your Point Already Ms lawyer for amber Heard Like wth ? Lols 😂 SMH Like Please get to the damn Point Already woman please hurry up Lols 😆
It's absolutely fascinating how merely announcing "that is incorrect" disrupts the entire narrative building process. Heard's lawyer cannot even get the ball rolling because she's stopped every few seconds with the loud announcement that something she has said is wrong, and she has to rephrase it to get back any momentum. By the time she gets to the point she's trying to make, everyone has been so thoroughly distracted from her train of thought that the connections she's trying to make fizzle.
Her beautiful life is over, her career is over, the best days are over. Now she can only get fame through these trials and interviews, and unfortunately she will strive for this. To keep Johnny in suspense, and therefore still control him. She's obsessed with Johnny. Because her victim broke free
Frankly I'm glad that Heard's legal team is this bad. Their case is so meritless that all they can do is try and discredit, deny, and obfuscate the facts.
It makes me think that everyone she hired was TOLD to say "this and that" and then whenever Depp's team was on the case - she would tell them to purposefully twist their words, but even then, they are doing a poor job not only on the case, but on their reputation too
a lawyer attempts to manipulate a psychologist, someone who studies manipulation and manipulative tactics that people pull on each other and reasonably can see what the lawyer is attempting to do and rightly isn't allowing her to do. idk what Elaine thought was doing to happen when she attempted to manipulate and twist the words of this professional (I forget her name) who is fully aware of what she's doing. bless her for just staying "that's incorrect" and "that's not correct" and leaving it at that so that it can resonate with the jury how deceptive Amber's lawyers are
Its refreshing hearing such a professional and smart person stating when they don't understand something and give concise reasons why they probably shouldn't.
Yes! Too many people are afraid to say “I don’t know” or “No…that’s incorrect” & the lawyer is trying so hard to insult her intelligence & it ain’t working LOL
Please turn your life to Christ whilst you still can listen in the bible it says “ they’ll be wars and rumours of wars” the rapture is about to happen anytime now you do not want to be left behind please make the right choice repent of your sins and turn away from them we don’t have much longer left may God bless your soul 🙏
I appreciate the psychologist putting her misleadingly phrased questions in check. I was always under the impression you’re only allowed to answer yes or no.
Both are good at what they do. I tried to go into this unbiased and I feel Amber’s lawyer is leveraging experience. She might be phrasing questions in a way that is cunning, but it’s allowing her to plant seeds in a jury/bystander’s mind. Basically, her asking the “misphrased” questions focuses on those issues that get us second guessing the integrity of Mr. Depp’s interactions with the psychologist. The psychologist also plays her part well and is very to the point and almost robotic in an authoritative sense. This shit fascinates me, I’m appreciative of people who have the passion Or wherewithal to work in law, and thanks for sharing.
@@PRSouthern I basically agree with what you're proposing, but I'm seeing quite a few spectators showing amusement. Also if a naive person like myself can see right through her cunning attempts to insinuate there was some schmoozing of this psychologist over dinner or her credentials are not up to snuff, I'm sure the professionals who matter in that court see it.
@@charlieross-BRM I can definitely agree with this comment.. the fact that she’s trying to “prove a point” by saying she’s not board certified as if that even matters. She is licensed.
Wonderful answers from the psychologist, a rare treat. (Beauty and brains). It's a fine example of a professional with the ability to listen most carefully to the question, assess all of its implications, and give an appropriate answer calmly, confidently, and convincingly. Also a perfect example of why defendants in court cases should never conduct their own defence - leave it to the experts.
The way she answered the questions was soooo good. Most of us would not catch on that some questions are lots of “gotcha” questions. She was as sharp and accurate as a sniper. Bravo!!!!
