small game hunting is some of the most relaxing shooting, i thinks its partly because of how forgiving it is, dont need to track an animal for hours or sit and wait for the perfect shot
yea which makes em a lot easier to shoot when relaxed since there isnt a ton of adrenaline pumping. I shot a deer in November (and a couple squirrels during deer season since I was leaving anyways). Even though small game season is still going on, I havent been out to hunt since deer season ended. Maybe shooting a squirrel or coyote is alright every once in awhile but it feels way less rewarding and kind of senseless since they arent being eaten. No way I could just go out there and shoot little animals all day long, I feel bad after shooting one and then im done. People can do what they want though. At least in a SHTF scenario it would be pretty easy to live off eating squirrels haha
Most of my favorite memories growing up with my father brother uncles and friends were small game hunting. Having a son soon and cannot wait to take him.
I’ve never tried calling raccoons but will definitely give it a try now. That was not only extremely informative, but the funniest, most enjoyable video I’ve ever seen. I could hang out with you guys any day.
They like that call, right. Nice shot - finally got one ! They are quick and it is funny the way things happen while hunting, you just never know which way their going. Good job. Hunting is fun and just being with your buddies. Thanks for the vid 😂❤
You guys kept me laughing the whole video! Now this is entertainment! Keep these videos coming! My 8 year old watched your videos and now we’re going to go out in the back 40 and do this!
Rex is a true good old boy he understands that the man spent a lot of money on the license so he wants to watch him have fun that’s awesome I love to go hunting with you I bet you sure are a wealth of knowledge
I can see it now hunter mauled by monster raccoon!!! Rofl I ve used some mouth calls n practically had em in my lap but I got to get one of those electronic calls!!! Great video looks like y'all had a blast!!
I purchased the lucky duck revolt a couple years ago. Excellent caller! Haven't tried calling coons. I strictly night hunt for some cattle farmers in nw Indiana and I get close enough to the cows to mask my scent and play calf bawl. It works great!
I’m all about small game hunting don’t get me wrong. But a few years back I ended up saving a baby coon after it’s mother was killed.. and he turned out to be the coolest pet.. I’d let him out with the dogs he would come back at night an chill in a kennel.. thing could wrestle like a bastard.. loved cereal and Cheetos and ate 20 lbs of grapes once…. Then he got big and aggressive.. and one night he just took off into the woods.. I realize nobody probably gives a fuck.. but they are pretty fucking cool animals.. and it just seems like those skills should be used to hunt an kill something that actually can defend itself
I found a paralyzed coon in the middle of the road in Minneapolis one time. Cars were zooming around and over it nonstop and it was fully aware. I pulled over and carried it off the road so I could end it’s life as humanely as I could with what i had available- a knife to the throat. This nice lady had also pulled over and she comforted me while I did the deed. That moment will never leave my memory…. I felt so bad and had to release some tears in the coming days. I’m a hunter but I don’t take killing lightly. 😓 Edit: a word
I ve hunted Coons every which way mostly treed by a big Walker coon hound I ve never seen nor heard of hunting like this. I thought in middle of day , this is going to be a joke. That caller sounds like my hound getting a hold on a coon. I d like to try this method of up close and personal coon call n. Thanks for sharing.
This is my personal page...lots of different subscribers that don't follow The LD page on here. Good thing it doesn't hurt ya to watch it twice!!! Haha! Thx - Geoff
I used to coon hunt with hounds when I was younger. I got 100 stories I could tell about that. Some really funny one's as well. I miss those days hunting with dogs. They sure are a pain in the ass to get trained up. But once you get there, it's some of the best hunting you can do. We use to call them out of the tree, they would come out of that thing pissed off and ready to fight most of the time. Had one medium size coon whip 4 dogs. Both of my dog's ear's were split the whole length from their head to the tip of the ear. Was a bloody mess.
I think he likes it...you push a button for the range then a red dot shows up below the crosshair for your hold. I haven't seen him shoot any real far ones with it but he said it's pretty accurate! Geoff
@@jake9705 Ok,I've got two Eliminator3 scope's one on a .223 Rem 700 sps Varmint that is set up to shoot 50v-max's, and one on a 700 Rem .243 thats set up to shoot 105 A-max's both work real good...It takes a little time to set them up "some fine tuning with the numbers" I've used them at all ranges 100-500yards ringing steel and punching paper.
Back when my father was alive he was a hound coon hunter. One night we'd gone to a cut corn field and let the dogs go next thing he has the raccoon and one of the hounds go right between his feet and almost fell over backwards when the coonhound went through.
