Author Alexis Quinn and MP Sir Robert Buckland have called for an end to autism treatments that see individuals "caged".
Quinn, who is autistic, shared how she "had to escape" from a mental health hospital after hearing she would be sectioned for another year following a three year stay in the facility.

This is predicated on ancient views of autism which are sadly propagated by many influential organisations - we aren't sick, we aren't broken, we need support, not institutionalisation.

That means the *humans* have to change themselves. And i dont expect anything less from both the older gens they're horrible, insensitive and apathetic when it comes to issues unless its their own and especially when it comes to mental health, theres still elders out there that think things like depression dont exist.....,learnt this from experience and observation of the elders and this isnt aimed at all of them just most. And since when do humans learn from mistakes? Yeah individuals do here and there but as a bunch? Especially when it comes to the older ones, who have been around long enough to learn against their wrongs yet carry on doing them. Im not holding my breath either.

They're not the only ones being horrifically treated, nearly everyone is lately, they just found out that it was happening to people with autism before the general public, probably because they can't complain, people in psychiatric care are the often similarly exploited again due to validity, higher up branding target the general younger population again because they don't notice the affectation of psychic exploit, they're harvesting everyone, this is what caused Covid, star f**ckin 😭

Exactly. I have autism too and the main thing that we want is to just fit in without looking like an outcast. They think by segregating us is the best way to "treat" us yet all it does is make us more and more antisocial. This world is way too far behind for our issues but if others just treated us like humans instead of animals we might be more productive to society. We are humans too and we can do just as much, if not more, than most. It just means we have to work twice as hard for the same result. Keep strong though 🙏

I can only speculate, but those of us with autism can have our difficult moments (usually in private), such as rocking back and forth or, often, minor episodes, that we overcome quite easily in the right environment. But all in all, we can get on with life. So, it seems a case of people simply being mistreated and symptoms of autism being used as an excuse to do horrible things to people.

it appears that that has deliberately been left out of the video. there are only 3 reasons for detention. 1: to protect self from serious harm. 2: to protect others from serious harm. 3: to protect a patient that seriously cannot look after themselves / being neglected etc. it will be in one of those categories

In the late 1980's or early 1990's this problem was dealt with. Back then it was women held for decades for no reason other than getting pregnant out of wedlock, and other such barbaric reasons for locking people up. They ended the use of the old Victorian buildings, and opened up mental health wards in general hospitals, throwing institutionalised patients onto the streets, increasing the homeless population. Psychiatry has gone backwards since then, new psychiatric hospitals have been built and filled with Autistic people, drug addicts and alcoholics. I know because I've seen it. In the science lab, psychiatry may have a genuine purpose, but in the real world, it's completely useless. General Psychiatrists are lazy, and on the wards, so are the psychiatric nurses; all they do is stand around, between sitting on their backsides, looking important, but achieving nothing. The psychiatric ward is nothing but a way of giving employment to doctors and nurses who're not good enough to do proper healthcare; they're the ones who just about scraped through their exams, so they have to be given jobs, so the money spent on their training isn't completely wasted. They do all the same training as other doctors and nurses, but when all the good jobs are taken for specialist study, such as theatre work or A+E etc, they're left with the jobs those with better grades wouldn't look at at twice. Theatre nurses, practice nurses, surgeons, and General Practitioners have to know their stuff. As a psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse, it really doesn't matter, all they need is to be able to sound clever, and as if they know what they're talking about; as a rule, people don't die when psychiatrists or psychiatric nurses make mistakes, and if they do, guess who takes the blame...
