We need an alternative maximum tax law in California. That should apply to the state as a whole. It would say that Sacramento is prohibited from taking more than a given number of total aggregate dollars in tax from the people. Such excess money is syphoned off from the people by Sacramento that it always leads to massive corruption in our state. The best way to illuminate corruption is to run a very lean government. State taxes should be halved. Sacramento should then be made to live within their new reduced budget and get honest and get efficient. No more grifting. No more corruption. No more extravagant taxes.

Hell no. I've had 3 flat tires in the last 6 months all in different cities on sections of road that have been severely lacking in repair. For years. Until they can maintain an accurate and speedy repair process for potholes, they shouldn't see any change in income for them.

This would work fine for someone like me who typically drives 3-4k miles a year with that $400 payment offsetting the gas taxes and in a 30mpg vehicle, but I know I am in the minority.

Adding more fees won't solve the problem, they'll still have a deficit and corruption.

Seems fair; electric cars are heavier and likely cause more stress to the roads, not to mention guardrails are having to be replaced since current infrastructure can’t support their weight. …not to mention that electric cars need roads more than gasoline vehicles; haven’t seen anything electric that’s able to compete with a 4Runner, Defender, Wrangler, Grenadier, etc…

This sounds good to me if they charge by the mile instead of having a gas tax. The first words of an EV owners mouth when you ask them how they like their car is "no maintenance costs and I don't have to pay high gas prices."

So for every 100 miles I’m going to have to pay 3$ so each tank I’m going to have to shell out 9-10$ of taxes for just one tank on top of the 50$ to fill up.

What if you do a road trip out of state? I think it’s better to go to a weight based fee. A heavier vehicle does more damage than a lighter one.

So with over 30 million registered vehicles on California's roads rn, say an average of them do 7000 miles a year. I drive way more then that but let's just say an average. That's 2100 DOLLARS WE HAVE TO PAY A YEAR ON THAT 30 CENTS A MILE TAX!!! THATS MORE THEN HALF OF A BILLION DOLLARS BRO!! AND THATS JUST A ROUGH AVERAGE. I know people that put 35000 miles a year and that equals too 10500 dollars that they would need to pay a year. Isn't that unbelievable 🤯
