Brock Purdy is a very good QB, but he’s got the best weaponry in maybe the league history since the SB era began (1968). Purdy’s not elite after 1 full season of play w/ extraordinary talent around him.
Stephen personally having to apologize on behalf on Kimberly Martin is low af. Her saying “you just like the others sitting watching me on tv” was a crazy line. We DONT even wanna watch her trash takes, that’s the hilarious part.
If the full interview was posted you would have seen that Cam said that ESPN's Kimberley Martin and him had an "Unbelievable Conversation" and than Molly said "We love Kimberley" He said I love her too.. They good now..
😂😂 the game manager is the 1 who couldn’t score on the last drive of the Super Bowl & the game changer walked it down & ended the game. It’s a difference. Cam knows ball
Kimberly has zero credibility she don't belong in a conversation with a former MVP that was once the face of the League and college football at one point
Like ive said Cam thinks any qb who is not a big time runner is a game manager, so thats Brady, MANNING, Breeze, ext. , he's thinking is flawed and dumb but thats what he thinks.
Facts just like they discredit Purdy for his weapons… every great qb had weapons.. but because he was the last pick in the draft he ain’t supposed to be here .. they treat him as if he was undrafted
@@dongreyeyes1996Brock gave his team the lead in overtime if they defense get one stop or force a field goal who knows what would’ve happened brock wasn’t the one that fumbled a punt which led to a Chiefs touchdown Brock wasn’t the one who gave up the game winning touchdown 🤡🤡
For all those people who said cam was wrong for calling purdy a game manager, prepare to eat your words. If purdy was a game changer san fran would have a ring right now
You do know they lost because the defense couldn’t get a stop purdy gave his team the lead in overtime the niners defense couldn’t stop the chiefs on 3rd downs than gave up the game winning touchdown 🤡
None of those people were even on the set when it was said. I don’t respect an apology that’s not directly from the person who spoke negatively about me.
@@DixieLandTom3bro it’s his second year and he played good. the receivers were locked down most of the time and we passed too much… he made big plays some were called back with penalties… he has won us plenty of games
@@teqzt don’t matter what year he in he’s a game manger and that’s ok. Like cam said it’s not a knock but he’s literally showed us why he got that label. Nobody’s saying he’s trash but he’s not on this pedestal that people have him on
He did have to talk to the press after every game for years. That’s why a lot of former players become analysts. They are used to beign on camera and talking.
I really hated how people pretended the first time they ever heard somebody get called a game manager was when Cam Newton said it. I’ve been seeing people far less qualified to speak on NFL quarterback play than Cam call people that all 36 years of my life
A lot of people understand what the man was saying. Grown men being fan boys in their feelings. That team has 8 pro bowlers anybody that knows football understands what that means smh.
This was some of the best Football Conversation I've seen on the network. First Take having Cam, Ochocinco, and Prime on the show The last couple of days has been a real treat. But they can really have something bringing Cam on the show more often.
Never understood why ppl was attacking him personally because of his statements. He’s played the game but the ones who don’t play the game can critique all mf’in day 😂
@@micah.1009because it was coming from hate, Dak, Tua and Purdy were all playing amazing and Cam comes out talking about they are "game managers", that was pure hate
@@bigman7570And 2 of the 3 that you named were 1st round exits and played absolutely horrible in the playoffs and most of the time when they were playing teams above .500 in the regular season as well. Purdy just has the luxury of being surrounded by the best overall roster in the league. Besides that, nothing Cam said was wrong.
To be honest even if Purdy isn’t elite he’s still doing a helluva job getting the team where they need to be. So long as he isn’t causing to the team to lose I don’t see any issues
He has some of the best all around passing numbers in the league. People act like he ain’t got the numbers to be seen as a great QB. They short change him because he has a talented team but He’s apart of that talent getting those guys the ball.
@@veenom1979pat is cool, but Unc is an ALL TIMER, 3X SB winner, in the HOF, has numerous All time records for TEs. His perspective of the game is so much different than Pat
He's talking about game managing vs game changing as styles of play most of the critics are taking one as a negative and one as a positive and that's not what he's saying it's quite simple buts it's easier to talk 💩 than to actually listen
He’s completely wrong. He said the 4 game changers are mahomes burrow Allen and Lamar. Kurt cousins dal Prescott Justin Herbert Kyler Murray Stroud fields and purdy are completely different types of QB and style of player. Any ranking with them alll together is flawed and illogical
@@undefeatedpacifist8389 yall definition of game manager is flawed. Cam has always said that the game CHANGERS are the BEST game MANAGERS. It’s not a bad thing to be a game manager, it is exactly what the position requires.
@@lsj8917no he also said Brady is a game manager. He did not specify Brady and Peyton as game changers. It’s a take that’s contradictory on every level and lazy. You can’t say a QB like Justin fields Antony Richardson are game managers because they cannot manage games. You also cannot say QBs like kyler murray Herbert Stroud or love who constantly make their best plays out of structure are game managers especially. And even a pocket gunslinger like Matthew Stafford is not just a game manager he’s able to throw from any platform to anywhere on the field even when a play needs to be thrown open. If you think you can classify every QB in the league into those 2 categories it’s lazy and bad analysis. There isn’t a counter argument to this these are his words and it’s a shitty take.
Every fan of the NFL likes to believe they have a franchise quarterback even if they don’t. I remember a few years ago people were talking this way about Garropolo too. Where those faithful go?
One last thing: the best period to prove whether Brock is what the fans think is to see his success after his rookie contract is over. That’s when everything will get settled. They can’t keep the all star team together once they pay him.
@@marked4death076when talking about this you have to bring the organization owners into play as well. They handled that terribly. You remember luke? I saw a dynasty getting ready to be made. The players on offense let cam down that day. And the play calling needs to be called out. They were a dominate run team all season but decided to throw on like every play. This is why they lost
Cam Newton was poiswed and nuanced in his approach there. i like it. That appraisal of the game and acknowledgement of the team nature and also the randomness, that makes up success and failure, which is why we like to watch these sports is so important and it gets lost in the constant sensationalist rhetoric of much of sports casting. It is good to hear a mature and nuanced prospective
dont put brady and purdy in the same sentence lol Shannon gotta stop that.. Purdy is a game manager at the fact that he mostly throws to deebo or CMC and they run for 50 yards, but its considered receiving. Brady has barely done that
4:30 thanks Cam. This is not presented enough. Football, more so than other sports has so many different moving parts that determine the outcome. Including O, D, and all special team aspects, there are 88 DIFFERENT POSITIONS and this is why coaching matters a lot more as well. That’s fact. We could very easily be waiting for DET vs BAL had Campbell not let his aggression turn personal or if BAL coaches remembered the teams identity.
Lol I tell people this all the time. People fail to realize The greatest show on turf was held to 2 scores, John Kasay who was basically 2nd to Vinatieri that year kicked the last kickoff out of bounds, the eagles let the clock run out in the red zone, Marshawn didn't get the ball, The top offense in the league Rams scored THREE points, Up 28-3 the falcons completely folded and on 3rd & 1 when they had probably 150 rushing yards at that point and could've sealed the game. They drop back to pass and leave the best past rusher on the Patriots un blocked, The Buccs defense neutralizes Mahomes and the Chiefs offense to nothing. Brady been fortunate his whole career. Not saying he's not elite or great but I ain't blind that's all. It's a team game that also sometimes requires letting the other team implode. When the last time you've seen Brady tie or take a lead and the defense doesn't make a stop? Or when have you seen his kickers miss a game tying or winning FG in the playoffs??? He's just more fortunate than everyone else lol. Still that dude. He's mad nice but he gets WAYY too much credit as do most QBs
The Raiders victory over the Chiefs was a great example of what a QB gets away with when a the whole team shows up to play all around good football. Aiden didn’t even have to play great to beat mahomes and company, just don’t overturn the ball
Didn't have to play great? He didn't even have to play at all - 0 completions second half. I know you're just throwing out an example but this is what people literally think Purdy does - just stands there and watches his RB and defense win - it's CAP. If Purdy doesn't move chains they lose, straight up
7:03 "I did as much as I possibly could to put my team in the position to win." That's simply not true Cam...we all saw you scared to dive on the fumble in the SUPERBOWL!!! You actually backed away from the ball instead of diving on it. So Cam you can't speak on doing whatever it takes to win as you failed to do so.
Guys like Cam Newton and Nick Wright are why, even as a Chiefs fan, I'm rooting for Brock Purdy and the 49ers. Winning won't change Cam's mind but it'll forever stick in his craw that this "game manager" won a ring.
Cam Newton envious and bitter asf. BA & Deebo ain’t even all pros & Deebo was called a running back. Kittle was known as yac guys Brock Purdy🐐 is the goat. The Brock Purdy🐐 effect 🔥🔥🔥
Perfect interview for Cam. Wish it could have been longer. He is one the most misunderstood athletes of our time. I wish all of them on that set that day could have been there, including Kimberly Martin. Apologies are in order still. Glad to hear it on ESPN out outside of RC on Pivot.
If he’s misunderstood then it’s because he didn’t explain himself to be understood. But we didn’t misunderstand him. When he injects himself into the conversation, comparing himself, & diminish another QB’s success, that’s envy & pettiness.
Cam didn't want to jump on a fumble in the biggest stage. He didn't do his job which was why they lost to Denver. His criticism of Purdy is due to bitterness.
Never had a problem with Cam opinion, but I didn’t fully agree with it. Brock has shown he can be a game changer, sure he doesn’t have the biggest arm or the most glaring talent. But Brock has anticipation skills, can process information fast, is good at finding the holes in coverages, and can make tight window throws not mention he’s accurate. Talent means nothing without hard work.
I trust Brock Purdy a lot into Sunday game, if he win the Super Bowl he is way better than Cam Newton. At some point we have give Brock Purdy his flowers and put some respect on his name!
The dude who got replaced by Mac Jones is calling a dude who’s been to 2 NFC championship games in row and replaced a 1st round pick a “game manager”…. Modern sports journalism.
@@rohanshah7559 idk, maybe referring to him as “the dude who got replaced by mac jones” as if that’s all there was to cam newton, he’s just some guy who got replaced by mac jones. And also trying to use that statement to discredit not only the validity of cams analysis, but also using that to insinuate that cam isn’t qualified to have his opinion about Brock being a game manager because “he’s the dude who got replaced by mac jones”
I feel like you’re moving the goalposts here. It is true that Cam got replaced by Mac Jones, and nobody ever said that’s the only thing that happened in Cam’s career. That’s all I want to clarify
@@rohanshah7559 and all of that is valid, and it’s true that cam got replaced by mac jones. But to use THAT and ONLY THAT part of his career to turn around and say that it’s “modern sports journalism”, as if what he said and his opinion is invalid or should be weighted less because of the fact “he was replaced by mac jones” at some point in his career is stupid and it’s a casual take. Also, he mentioned that Brock purdy went to 2 nfc title games and 1 Super Bowl, as if cam newton hadn’t also went to Super Bowl, and won a mvp. Stating all of that for Brock purdy means nothing when comparing him to cam because cam has done the same stuff and a little more…but he didn’t mention that though, it was just “dude got replaced by mac jones, so who is he to call Brock a game manager”…that’s a casual take my guy because cam ain’t just some guy who got replaced by mac jones. That did happened, but a lot more stuff happened in his career as well that qualifies him to have his opinion on Brock. That’s all I’m saying, don’t sit here and act like cam is some has been scrub talking out of place, that’s cap
Anyone that thinks Cam isn't bitter about "random guys" getting jobs is just as deluded as Cam is. He wanted the Joe Flacco job. He wanted Purdy's too. I guarantee neither the Brown or Niners would've made playoffs with Cam. He can't comprehend that operating an offense at high level without having to be super athletic, is game-changing!
Jump boy- Cam Newton would have never been picked by the 49ers. It takes specia players to play with them. There is so many players that would dream to play with the 49ers. It's a privilege to play with them.
