He has years of expirience. Think he said on Joe Rogans podcast that he shot his first deer back in 87 or 89 if im not mistaken. And he has been doing it ever since.

@@henrikandreason7261 The more you train and learn (tho you need to actually allow yourself to learn and not just be one of those "I know it all already!" persons...) the more confident you get, because you know what you can and can't do. No wonder this guy is confident with his shooting, if he's been learning and shooting from 87/89 :) Always nice to watch people push those "normal" limits.

For those confused about his comments on MOA. MOA (Minute of Angle) is an angular measurement based off 1 /60th of one degree. AKA Minute of Arc. It doesn't change because you are shooting a bow. The archers Minute of Angle is a simple short hand for describing accuracy based on distance to your target. 1" at 10 yards, 2" at 20, 3" at 30, etc. This is actually 10 MOA they just call it 1 MOA for simplicity sake. As long as you understand one is an actual measurement and one is slang for how accurate you should be, call it whatever you like.

Shot 140 and 150 for the first time ever today. Hit a 6” plate 1 of 3 times at 140 and the same at 150. These distances really puts your form in check. Good shooting there man.

The most important part of the video for me was that last 30 seconds. As a Marine Sniper I always used D.O.P.E. or Data On Previous Engagements. We used a kestral to record elevation, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, the ammo used, the number of shots through that barrel, the method used to clean the bore of the rifle, angle to target if it was steep, and more importantly, the actual scope settings. Then, when it was go time, we had all of this D.O.P.E. that we could reference. It takes 5 minutes to do but can be the difference in a hit or a 10 yard miss at 1k yards. Seems to be the same deal for archery. I guess I will need to start recording again. Thanks Cam

The arrows are released at only a 5 to 10 degree angle so no they shouldn't be on a heavy angle when they hit the target. There will always be haters. Hell of an archer.
@garrettcooper471
@garrettcooper471 4 года назад
I can second this statement in order for him to reach 162 yards given that he draw 70 pound 29-30 inches and uses 420-450 grain arrows 3 inch fletching at .5 inch height and the initial launch of the arrow is 5 feet the angle of initial launch would need to be roughly 5.6 degrees. I will say the angle of the entry looks off but this can be explained by the archers paradox which if you don't know what that is google it.

Perfect practice makes perfect , for all the haters on unethical distance shots , this is just another ordinary day , every single day he practices , cam is a machine , when you get out of bed for breakfast he’s running up and down mountains , lunch time while your eating donuts he’s pushing himself in the gym and in the afternoon he’s practicing shooting he lives and breathes the outdoors , you may think he’s got all the sponsors all the gear anyone could do that , yeah nah , he doesn’t drink , he eats healthy and pushes himself past his limits everyday , it’s his way of life his happiness , he gets his buzz from hunting and being as fit as he can to do it , sponsorships are bonuses , he would be still doing the same lifestyle without them , with the sponsors we just get to go along with him and watch , I have so much respect for this bloke for his talent his humbleness his skill and for his attitude , you can see his love of the hunting and outdoors in his eyes and hear it in his commentaries , he doesn’t take shots at what he is not 100% confident in a killshot , he doesn’t shoot anything ,he is very disciplined and patient waiting for exactly what he wants , he is at the top of his game . We are just lucky enough to get an insight into this guys life and share in his expireince , training tips hunting tips and knowledge with us , so before anyone thinks about bagging his ethics or writing rubbish about his archery skills get a life , cam is cam this is his life and his love for it shows , if you don’t like something cool , just pass by , you don’t have to write crap . Cameron I like the tips you are providing us Hunters. I have for the pat two yrs now started my shoots at 80 yrd and 100 yrds. At first I could not get a group better then 16 inches. As I continued to shoot at these distances I leaned better control and patience. My groups are not tight at 3 inches to 4 inches. Last fall I took an 10 point buck at 78 yrs and hit both lung and nicked the heart. That was my longest shot and kill as of yet. I got to know my equipment as you speak of. It is true. I went with confidence that I could do this shot. I shoot a bear Mauler left handed bow with the trophy ridge Revolution 2.0 and a Copper John slider. My arrows that I like art the Victory V6 I have the 100 grain wasp duler. This for me has worked great. Keep the tip coming. They have helped me a lot. thanks again

Good job Cams my buds and I practice shooting out to 90 yards here in Michigan making 20-60 pretty easy. People and friends we talk to are always saying "Are You Guys Nuts" you'll never get a shot that far in Michigan the longest shot you'll get is 20-30yds. I shot a 8piont buck this past /2014 deer hunting season in the open farm land at 54yds away 24 feet up in a tree and I was more then comfortable taking that shot perfcted lung shot he ran about 45yds and droped. Thanks for the long practice shooting it paid off. After watching your great videos we will practice longer shots this year. Thanks again stay strong, keep shooting, and stay safe God bless.

I shot a new Spyder Turbo this last week at the range and I gotta say this : doesn't matter target or hunting you just can't get better when you get one of these dialed. I ordered my new one just last week and look forward to working with it all this next year and plan on taking it Elk Hunting next fall. Still using my PSE this season and filled my Bull tag already now just have 2 deer tags left to fill a Mule Deer Buck Only tag and one Any Deer that I am going to use on a older Whitetail Doe. Some people don’t understand what it takes to achieve this distance. Takes 80 pounds on a wicked fast bow, probably not achievable with short draw, need light arrows, sight that allows for the housing clearance, peep adjustment to see the housing while it’s ran down that far, and form perfection. To even hit that deer at that distance….. absolutely crazy the amount of effort and skill. I shoot 6in groups at 70, and that’s my Hoyt nitrum 30 at 27in draw, 60 pounds maxed out sight tape and 426 grain arrows. Cam is insane.

I APPRECIATE your clean language. My 2 kids are getting their new bows tomorrow & I will be having them watch a bunch of your bow basic vids tomorrow to help them with their basic technique. I have a little girl who is 8 & a boy who is 11 & tonight we got them fitted up for their bows. I have been away from the sport once we found out we were pregnant with our boy. The wife has a bow that she only shot for a couple of months until it was uncomfortable for her to continue to shoot. So we are so excited to jump back into this sport with the kiddos. Again THANKS for the clean videos for younger viewers to watch...

lowrider9367 I am 46 . Never even shot a b0w. Started studying and making a few arrows. Why even start if I can't make the projectile easily. I do give more credit for accuracy here to bow maker - tuner. After time , same shot , same exact target on same old spot. Hmm. Once shot a robin from 200 yards with a 10 pump pellet gun pistol. Yes a crossman of a better era. Also shot bees at 50 ft. MM's at 60 + . On that robin i figured about a 40 ft. drop. Heard impact about 2.5 seconds later. I am not a great shot. Only God is . Don't ever think your great.God is Great. . He will take your meaningless souls like a thief in the night. We all get lucky .Repetitive motion with a familiar device is more of a trick.

Just throwin' this fun fact out there. Humid air is less dense. Common misconception because humid air feels so thick. As a precision rifle shooter, I hope for high temps and high humidity to get the best performance out of my bullet. You should get yourself a Kestrel. I think you'd really enjoy checking weather data and comparing it to how your arrows react in different weather conditions.
@snugglyjeff214
@snugglyjeff214 6 лет назад
It is the moisture in the air slowing the arrow down. It has nothing to do with how dense or thin the air is. As a precision arrow shooter, I know to set my sight hot during the summers on the east coast, or my shots will be hitting low.

I used to shoot bows quite a bit, this is doable. However, I too shoot long range rifles and I believe you are mistaking in your measurements. You mentioned shooting Minute of Angle at 40yds. If your 5 shot group was 1MOA at 40yds, that would equate to roughly 1/2 an inch. 4" groups is basically 1MOA at 400yds, not 40 yards.
@JohnyBravo44
@JohnyBravo44 5 лет назад
1 MOA is 1 inch at 100 yards, (not 10). 2" at 200 y, 3" at 300y and so forth. So what you wwere trying to say is that you want to stay within 10 MOA for your shots.
@nickjames6070
@nickjames6070 4 года назад
@@JohnyBravo44 he mentioned he herd the shot comparison between bow and rifle was about a factor of 10. If you stuck with that it would have the numbers make sense. If yall say 1in@100yds and so on, by his factor of ten that would give him the 1in@10yds, 4@40, etc. Maybe that's why he does it like that.

I can't even get that at 50 yds "yet!" But I'm working on it. I feel lucky just to not lose arrows. I'm 60 years old, and I just started shooting a bow about 3 years ago, and I had a set back with my health and was unable to draw a bow for around 6-8 months. I depend upon a friend who has property to shoot at extended ranges which we don't do often enough. When I see you shoot 160 yards and group like that I really enjoy it. Thanks

not so sure about that, remember with a rifle you'd be prone ,on a rest , able to fire between heart beats etc , quite few guys now hitting 12 inch discs at over 1000 , the aussie is trying at 3,and 4 ooo yds ,with about a 4ft plate , ha then you got rail guns !!! wait till we get personal shoulder versions of them babies .hhmmn may have to have a whisper in Jorges ear about this ,ho hoh ho !

Ok i am no expert an i am not saying i am right. But i need to ask. At that distance there is a big drop in the flight path of the arrow. At the end he is standing next to the 3d deer an the entry angle is perfectly parallel to the ground as if he was shooting straight on from close up. Zero downward angle of attack. So am i wrong. Does his? Arrows fly straight for 160 yards. But mine at 80 yards has a arch an enters at a slight downward angle? Just asking. By the way i love what he teaches an the information he shares. Seen alot of his videos. Obviously one great archer for sure.
@inthegreenetv4936
@inthegreenetv4936 6 лет назад
I thought the same thing but I noticed that the arrows only inserted to the 3D Target a couple inches if he was shooting closer the errors would be a lot deeper into the 3D Target so I don't know
@jesuschrist-alphaomega
@jesuschrist-alphaomega 6 лет назад
@@inthegreenetv4936 ya i saw that too. Confused. My local range only has out to 80. And id never take a shot at over 60. So i guess none of this matters. It is impressive that he can shoot a group like that at 160.

@saxon1177
@saxon1177 5 лет назад
Those arrows are not perfectly level to the ground and with a faster arrow comes less arc. Also, very important here, camera lenses can distort and bend objects giving you the sense that something is wrong. Try to look at the arrows in the target frame by frame and you can see what I'm talking about. Besides, he doesn't come across ass the kind of guy that would fake his shots for fame or more likely, a few Oooo's and aaaah's from you tube viewers. It's more likely that a you tube troll would try and stir things up.

Settling his anchor point more than likely. He has an anchor spot where his nock sets on the side of his mouth and a couple inches above the string touches his nose. Something like that anyways, I do know he has a really precise anchor practice

In fact a humid night would make an arrow hit high. High humidity air is LESS dense then dry air. Its a common misconception.
@johnnybuckbrush
@johnnybuckbrush 7 лет назад
I think it has more to do with the arrows getting wet while flying through the humidity than the density of the air. A little moisture weighs a lot on a light slow moving arrow

Nah, you can see the change in degree of his arrow in relation to the ground. If you still think he's shooting horizontal to the ground, just watch at 2:12 how much height the arrow has when leaving his bow.
@bigfoothunter574
@bigfoothunter574 8 лет назад
And does it hit horizontal to the ground just like his? If the arrow leaves the bow at a 45 degree, the impact should be the same.The principals of trajectory dictates that.And speed does not change that principal.

why does he move his hand up and down when he draws the bow back
@grunner30
@grunner30 8 лет назад
He is being sure he's settled into the exact same anchor point every time. Same goes for the bow hand. At that distance, like he says, everything is magnified. Anchor point with release hand, a relaxed and consistent bow hand, and consistent body position/posture/...form, are critical for consistently consistent consistency. So what's the key??? Starts with C.

Correction, but certainly not a criticism: Minute of an angle is 1" at 100 yards. So the group is 3.75 minutes of an angle actually. Certainly not an ethical shot to make, but I don't think that's the question here. Even though the kinetic energy and penetrating power that Easton arrow carried with it out to 160 yards is astounding. My brother has an old Easton ACC arrow that he retired after he had killed 9 hogs with it (last two were 200+ nasty south Florida boar hogs). You can spin that arrow on the arrow inspector today and it still spins as true as the day it was fletched.
@thebassfishingnetworkthebf8300

James Hall MOA is still moa. and the factor of 10 is not even close. first, it depends on the caliber and depends on the rifle. just to say 10x is an ignorant statement.

Easton n-fused full metal jacket with a 400 spine, 10.2 grains per inch.........I believe he's using a 5.5mm thickness, but no one is ever smart enough to go into details like that...... and I haven't seen field points for this size, where do you get them? Anybody who shoots a compound bow knows this is impressive! I am not the biggest single pin fan for hunting but it’s a huge factor in shooting this far! Not many people love the 5 pin but I do I have 20-50 and then an 80 yard pin for practice and unless it’s clean broadside I don’t shoot game at 50. I do the 5” group in practice at 50 but it’s not the same as the pin being on an animal.
