Do you have health insurance or are you self insured? (Living in Canada its not something I’ve had to think about). Thanks again.

Great informative video, James on providing an estimated cost of living for retiring in Cambodia. Those numbers really makes Cambodia a very attractive option for retirees.

I really enjoyed this one ! -- Been researching for a couple years - the ideal retirement destination - for my personal criteria. > I have it down to 2 countries - only. -- No perfect place on earth I'm afraid. The Philippines is certainly cheaper - where I want to go. -- Actually the country can offer a budget for just about any size you want - an unusual and terrific aspect ! Many US expats swear they live wanting nothing for $1000/mo or less - depending on location and lifestyle. And many of those with Filipina girl friends decades younger - on that amount !!! --?-- - - - However James - I suggest you see Allen In Asia - from Siem Reap - and 'his' budget video /// 1ST WORLD LIVING on a 3RD WORLD BUDGET - with a girlfriend. (who he later married) It is several months old - but should be reasonably close ? - - - I really do like Siem Reap - may be just too hot for me. ( ? ) Both countries are miles ahead of the visa laws and friendliness of the people - compared to all others !

1. Shouldn’t solar panels be a no-brainer in Cambodia? Especially if you own your own home. That should offset the electricity cost alot. 2. What happens if you cross the Thai border on a motorbike? As you don’t need insurance, how would the authorities know you made a grey import?

what about health cost for oldies who cannot get insured

second tier southeast asian cities are best but most affordable ones are away from the ocean. in the philippines i like bacolod, but i already know some people there. sihanoukville gets a bad rap now as a chinese gambling den but is it really that bad? cambodia really has an excellent retirement visa. it seems that laos has one too, buried in a business visa.

I have a dumb question(s). When you get your extended (yearly visa), do they have a ID card that they issue? In the Philippines, they have an ACR card that they issue once your stay passes 59 days.... When you arrive, do you need to show immigration onward travel ticket?
