@@belgarath6508 Yes, I don't doubt there's info caught in the dragnet but there's nothing like the social credit system. Have you ever been to Wyoming? There aren't cameras anywhere except maybe the bigger towns (there aren't really any "cities" unless you count 55k living in one place a "city"). I suppose the interstate highways also have cameras, cameras normally just monitored by the WYDOT for traffic and transportation issues, that could be used by the feds if they needed to follow someone. It really comes down to how information is weaponized too. I can be some insane weapons hording maniac that talks shit about the federal government openly. Unless I make a credible threat, even if I'm known by the feds and they have a detailed file on me, guess what happens? Nothing. @@KharlHungus I'm saying it's the complete opposite of China. It's way too rural and there are almost no cameras aside from the major highways (which are used for legitimate purposes). China has cameras everywhere, something like one for every six people in the country (so hundreds of millions).

My best friend since practically birth decided he wanted to teach overseas, taught in American Samoa, Turkey, Belize, Rwanda where he met his girlfriend now fiance, but the one place he refuses to ever go back is China. He was hospitalized five times for respiratory issues, they never actually fixed the electrical and other problems in his apartment, and on his last night there, the local prefecture official in charge of the education ministry or whatever (who he had never met before this point) showed up at his hotel and invited him to dinner, and when they got to what I assume was some nice restaurant for foreigners and dignitaries his daughter was there all dolled up. The guy ended up leaving my friend there with his daughter, and after a few hours, my friend got up, said he was going to use the bathroom, left and finished packing up all his stuff and went and stayed overnight in the airport because he was worried about what might happen had he stayed. Probably not going to get arrested or something, but why risk anything at that point? Like it was so transparently obvious what was happening.

In 2009 I spent 2 weeks in China to adopt my son. In Wuhan, I had a very odd encounter with a young man that spoke perfect english. He tried to convince me to deviate from my plans and go with him. I refused and walked away from him. From that point, I didn't communicate with anyone that wasn't necessary to complete that portion of the adoption. The next town I was in to finalize the adoption for the US side, I found a small playground for my son to play at. The first day there a cop walked up to me and we started talking. He also spoke perfect english. I went to that park daily to let my son burn off some energy. I was there at different times of the day. But each time, that same cop was there. Didn't take long to figure that out. I assumed he was there to spy on me and get as much info from me as possible. I thought my background as an Army vet (combat arms with sec clearance and a cop for over a decade at that point). Anyway, I played along with him so my son could play there. The last time I saw him, He was getting kind of pushy and asking me questions about what I thought of the U.S.. I was well aware of what he was doing. So I steered the conversation back to the Chinese Govt and life there. I admit, this guy got under my skin so I got a bit lippy with him. I brought up the topic of free speech and our ability to open speak negatively of our govt. He immediately told me that they couldn't do that. I responded by saying that anyone who does that there would end up standing in front of a T59 tank in Tianeman Sq.! Oh he got pissed! He dropped his nice act, took a step toward me and stopped. Being a cop myself, I could tell that he wanted to put hands on me, but stopped. Well, after that I took my son and went back to the hotel. I never went back to that playground. Knowing we we leaving 1 day later, I only went where I was supposed to and didn't stray from the group of other adoptive families! I will never go back to that country. Absolutely hated that place.

@@lulubumonNit at all. It’s well known that Chinese want a “perfect son”. What people don’t realize is how literal that really is. They are so superficial in that statement that if they have a sin with a visible birthmark, they will give him up for adoption. A few months after bringing him home, I took him to a Chinese restaurant. He and Insat down and the lady that owned the place came to our table and asked who he belonged to (because I’m white and he is Chinese). I told her that he is my son and we adopted him from China. She immediately responded by saying “what’s wrong with him”. I grabbed my son and left. The Chinese look at it like they are dumping their trash on us for a profit. In reality, it’s just bother step in them destroying their future.

@@jeremyblanton1445 I cannot deny a lot chinese families want healthy babies, who dosent ?But sometimes there's also a factor of medical costs, especially when everything burns out and its still not enough. For the poor families, choose between a new member and all the saving, literally everything because china dosent have a welfare system, its a very hard decision. Some of them choose to give up the new born babies with disabilities or birth problems to give them a better chance for life. I think the traditional Chinese idea of " the perfectness" plays some factors but not all. Don't forget, there's also time in the US history, some parents had no choice but to sell their children, it is the Great Depression. I meaning no offense, just to compare so you know humanity is actually not that far than you think it is.
@jeremyblanton1445
@jeremyblanton1445 2 месяца назад
@@lulubumon I understand that. Hard times makes for hard choices. I have no problem with that. If you're life will never be adequate to take on the responsibilities of raising a child, and you know it. It's the right decision. I'm not faulting anyone for that. And yes, I realize that many Chinese families make this decision. I'm referring to the parents who have a healthy child, but the child isn't "normal" or "perfect" who literally dump the child and try again. Example, my son was born deaf. His biological parents abandoned him in public, near a Buddhist temple (a couple hours outside of Wuhan) when he was 10 months old. I can tell you that 10 months is the approximate time that most parents begin to suspect the child may have hearing issues. That is the exact time that my wife and I began to suspect our oldest daughter was deaf. They abandoned him at 10 moths, suspect he was deaf, with zero communication skills in the streets. That is some cold hearted crap. They threw him away in a public street. Thankfully the police found him and he lived in a police station for 3 days while they tried to locate his parents. After giving up on that, they paced him in an orphanage. He bounced around to multiple orphanages and foster homes until, about 2 1/2 years later, we brought him home. Again, I'm not bashing the families that had to put their kids up for adoption for the benefit of the kid. I applaud that and realize that has to be one if the hardest decision they could make. I'm referring to those that throw their kids away like a piece of trash. This is where the Chinese Govt. comes in. In a Communist culture, the government is supposed to care for its citizens by (among other things) provide for their medical and educational needs. When he was brought into the orphanage system no one did anything to see if he was actually deaf and never bothered with any testing or attempts to identify if he is deaf, if so, how severe is the hearing loss/deafness.. There was zero effort to diagnose anything. So much for the government caring for its most defenseless... Then, there is education. In China, if you live outside Beijing or Shanghai, and you have a kid that is deaf, you are pretty much screwed. In that geographically huge nation, with billions of people, the only two places that the government will provide ANY sign language classes for deaf kids is in those two cities. So, they have 100% turned their backs on any deaf person outside of those two cities. This is a perfect example of how much they care for their citizens. Another example of how disabled people are looked after in china. I spent a week in Wuhan. Every day I would make time to throw my son on my back and walk around the city (within close proximity to my hotel). This was important for many reason. For us to bond and for him to begin to trust me. And, I would see something, get his attention, point to it, then show him the sign for that object. I was exposing him to sign language by walking the streets of Wuhan. While doing so, I learned a whole lot about the city, country and its citizens. I saw several severely disabled people on those streets. to preface this, I'm not a soft hearted sap. I'm an Army vet and was a street cop in the most dangerous neighborhood, of the most dangerous city in the US. Cant tell you how much blood guts and gray matter I dealt with. I'm very comfortable being around chaos, violence and pure evil. So, it was heartbreaking to walk the streets of Wuhan and see dozens, if not more severely disabled people being used for profit. There were a ton of people that had severe cerebral palsy that were literally lying in the streets, unable to move due to severe disability, covered in dirt, hadn't showered in days, disgustingly filthy covered in dirt, mud and urine. Someone drug these poor people out into the streets and dumped them there with a cup to collect money from the public out of pity. Back to the honey trap stuff. in addition to the cop I mentioned previously, almost daily, I ran into random people that approached me for various reasons, and were overly polite to help. Every one of them, like the cop spoke perfect English. Here are a couple examples of how random and bizarre these incident were. At a McDonalds, the first day in country, and I hadn't gotten my son yet, a teenaged boy approached me and asks if I need help ordering. I declined his offer. He then stood next to me striking up a conversation. He spoke grammatically perfect english. We made small talk as I was waiting for my food then followed me to my table and sat down to continue talking. I asked him why he wasn't in school. HE said he was on a lunch break. He then insisted that I accompany him back to his school and come to his class so I could meet his fellow class mates. I was shocked by that! I refused. I then immediately finished my lunch and left, He followed me for a block or two before I insisted he leave me alone because I had an appointment to meet my son for the first time. He then asked if he could go with me! I had to raise my voice at him and tell him to go away and leave me alone. The next day my son and I were eating breakfast in the hotel dining room. the waiter, again spoke perfect english and was way too nice, like overly nice. He pretty much ignored every other table in the dining room and stood right next to my table and continued to try and initiate a conversation. I had to get him to go away by explaining to him, that this was the first real meal that I was able to have with my son. He got the hint and went away. Then about half of the time I was coming or going from the hotel I just happened to run into him. Hmm, not suspicious at all. Then one of the last nights I stayed at that hotel, this hotel waiter told me that he was getting off work soon and invited me to go a bar with him and his friends. WTF? NO WAY IN HELL! I would never take a kid to a bar at home with my own friends. Let alone, take him to a bar half way around the world in a city that I don't know with people that I didn't know. The weirdness continued for the rest of the time I was there. All of these weird interactions with people I'd never met, inviting me to deviate from my schedule to go do weird shit was pretty obvious. Just like your insistence that my observations were incorrect. You are starting to remind me of many of the people that I was referring to. Why are you so persistent to make me change my opinion on this matter? Why are my opinions and observations so important to you? Kinda weird!? making me start to change opinions of who exactly I'm interacting with.

Of course getting a fine for the red light wasn't a big deal for him, but rather how fast and accurate they were doing so. Thankfully for him the "citation" at the police station was chill. This sound so on par, I'm a European student studying abroad in another European country, I have a couple nice Chinese friends who invited me to an Asian party in which I met this awkward Chinese guy from a different university, the party ends, the next day he adds me on Facebook, the next day he messages me saying I should remove a video posted on my wall (by as 60year old German man)because it is offensive to Chinese people (the video in question is a cat holding money, the currency being Chinese Yuan), I decline, he becomes aggressive, I threaten to block him and he disappears, the following Wednesday I get an email from my university saying I'm being investigated for hate speech and misconduct, I appear before the dean and get even worse news, the police and Chinese embassy have also received a copy of the letter(and then contacted the university again). This was followed by an ultimatum, delete the video or my 4 years in medschool will be rendered null. The choice was obvious to me, I deleted the video, wrote an apology letter to the man and university and talked to the police explaining I didn't have malintent... I don't know what happened on the embassy side but I can't imagine I'm welcome in China any time soon!

Please, don't flatter yourselves! he is not the James Bond of South Africa as you would like everyone else to believe, and the Chinese government is certainly not as stupid as he made them out to be... why would they waste their time and effort on a paranoid idiot like him? who claimed he left everything and everyone back home to pursue his dream in China, only to find himself becoming a homeless bum when he ran out of money and had to spend the night in a restaurant? those are certainly not a typical script from a James Bond movie. from his story, The only thing I learned is that any caucasian idiot who goes to China has a shot of making a decent living. but that does not change the fundamental fact that you are still an idiot....

I had the opportunity to visit China (Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, HK) 40 years ago. Practically everyone wore the green army-look uniforms (except in Shanghai, there was a bit more variety in attire). Foreigners could only travel on government approved tours, registration at every location, accommodation only at government-approved-for-foreigners-hotel, use currency that could be used only by foreigners and at specified shops. Guides were actually officers masquerading as tour company employees. And there was Mao himself in the mausoleum, pumped with chemicals to keep him from rotting away, guarded by the Red Guards. And the spit bowls at every corner of every store and street...the whole country was freaky as hell. At a fundamental level, it seems not much has changed in China even today.
