crazy,,in the hood people will spend their life savings on rims and sneakers but they aint got a dime for any upkeep on their house or property,,they just let everything go to hell.
Im a resident of Camden even though its dirty and the living conditions tend to be bad in Downtown and Whitman Park where he recorded but these are some the worst blocks of Camden and its not as big as it looks. And at this moment Philadelphia is way more dangerous even the "nicer" hoods of Philly have shootings very often Camden has made huge improvements with guns and murder
Shit. I know some very well off people still in the hood. Homes immaculate. Don't be fooled into thinking every home is a dump in Camden , it's far from true. Your home is what you make it.
I rode my bike thru Camden the other day. It’s difficult to believe that a wealthy state like NJ neglects almost every one of its cities. As soon as the manufacturing jobs left they left everyone behind to waste away. You should check out other cities in South Jersey like Salem, Vineland, Bridgeton, etc
Whenever i watch your videos i find myself thinking the same thing. " there is so much potential in these neighborhoods" if they would just join together and literally just clean up the streets. Im thinking this is almost like mental warfare in a way .
@@peanutarbuckle2980 right. If i was mayor of thar city id turn the community of lazy into working class citizens. Good opportunity to create jobs here. Landscaping jobs and junk removal jobs. Would probably get re elected too. Buuut hey what do i know... im not a dirty politician 🤷♂️
It's exactly what it is, you see it when there's middle class areas that are once clean and safe but turn ghetto as soon as there's enough inhabitance by the same hood mentality, and vice versa, I've seen area that use to look bad and unsafe, turn into a decent looking neighborhood when it's filled with hardworking self loving families and a neighbors alike, it's all in the mentality, Ture poverty is of the mind.
A couple years ago my cousin got lost and ended up in Camden, a cop pulled her over and said blow through all the lights and stop signs until you’re out of the city.
Camden is a district in London and Jersey is a small island with a very complicated history off the coast of southern England if anyone is wondering where the names originated for this area.
Thanks. Looking at the old architecture of the structures, one can easily see the old England influence. Those homes appear to be 19th century or early 20th century.
It’s sad because a lot of the houses in Camden were not designed to stand for 50+ years. They were built for the many factory laborers in the area. Then the factories closed and people moved to the suburbs so the houses just fell into shambles
I live in Camden its currently way safe then it looks its just alot of drugs. But Im from Philadelphia and Philly is much more violent at the current moment. Looks like you went to Downtown and Pollock (Whitman Park)
Kensington is crazy. I had people think I was lying when I told them how open the heroin market is. Its a market. And it looks like a scene from the walking dead out there. You see people shooting up with cops right there. I had to actually take a couple people on a drive to see. Its different then a youtube video when you can actually see it and the smells. They lost all control of Kensington K&A
@@fazeboy2930 Northeast philly is fine. I know you aint talking about K&A thats not a safe place to just walk around. It looks like the walking dead and the junkies will rob you. I know someone who was killed right under the El train in 03 and it wasnt even as bad then. At least in early 00's the police had a little control. I know all about Kensington I'm a recovering addict I basically lived there in bando's on and off. I seen people get fucked up I was robbed in a Bodega not outside of it in side he pulled out on me. To me a safe place is somewhere you can be dressed nice and walk around alone at night. I seen a dude with scratches all over his neck bloody nose and no shoes. I seen him 40min before walk by to cop with Jordans and a chain on so you know what happened.
@@fazeboy2930 Overall Philly is MUCH safer. There are NICE areas there. But you can always find certain blocks that are worse than CMD. Camden is still much worse overall. At least according to the #'s.
I use to drive these streets almost every day for work. It's a shame that most people there don't take pride in where they live and just keep the hood clean. I know some of the houses look spotless inside though.
What causes the people to say to themselves "I'm not going to throw away trash in the bins and I will get into drugs, violence and stealing."? Seriously, where do they get such thoughts?
Im from east camden lived in camden all my life i got older moved more down in south jersey ...its not bad like that...its just if you into the bullshit bad thing will happen to you
Well the people who been car jacked would disagree. Or the store owners who been victims of armed robbery would also disagree. I happen to know a girl who went to a concert back in 98 I think. Got lost this was before GPS and was car jacked the 1 guy in the group was pistol whipped
Exactly. I've been here for years and haven't seen anything happen bad. Never heard a gunshot. Never seen a body.. it's just major drug use but that's everywhere.
@@sewison7990 You never heard a gun shot? Because yes violence is down people get shot in Camden a lot or shot at . So to not hear even 1 gun shot in years I gotta call BS. No way did you live in camden for years and not heard shots..
@@jesseolson3142 it’s not that impossible. In the past 5-10 years the violent crime rate has dropped pretty significantly compared to what it was in 98. With the development of the waterfront and Rutgers Camden there are some much safer places to live compared what was available in the 90s.
@@awsmgyc Yeah its not as bad as it was in the 90's I agree. But Its not a area that I would say is safe to walk around at night even though when I was getting high we would get heroin there late nights. I know for a fact the dope is all over still and when you have dope you have violence
Was born in Camden in 1951 moved out of South Camden in 1969 never went back, don't remember it looking like this, had alot of friends in Fairview and Polish town who went to St. JOE'S H.S.,now retired and live in Eastern Tennessee!
@@larmondoflairallen4705 you need to own a car to have a job, and a car is much cheaper then house in camden. Not owning a car is not going to save you enough money to move out of camden.
@Basik Some wonder why the financially literate don't attempt to educate the poor. They wonder why we just let you suffer and sell you crap you can buy but can't afford. All of your comments and responses are typical and surface level thinking. It is not your fault you are conditioned to think this way BUT IT IS YOUR FAULT TO REFUSE TO SEE WHAT IS IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE AND ADJUST. Keep telling yourself the BS instead of educating yourself. These comment sections help prove what the minority knows about the majority. What we know is most of you live paycheck to paycheck and would be homeless if you missed a month of work. Most of you have less than $2000 in savings and zero investments yet you will buy a BMW just for the stunt. Just to feel like you are winning. But every day someone rides past you in a ten year old Toyota and his or her situation is far superior. But in your mind you are the winner because your car is "better" disregarding the fact you live and park said "better" car in a crappy neighborhood. You don't even realize you are paying more the car because you live in a crappy zip code. That is called Red Lining. You should study before you type or speak. I sincerely wish you the best.
I once saw an interview he did with some disgruntled individuals complaining about how no one does anything for them and it's all the man's fault and blah blah..this dude was in his mid 30s and had achieved absolutely nothing with his life except hang around corners and do his 'hustle' Man, if you aint learned shit in 35 years and you are still hanging around street corners like a teenager that is on you not any government, police or oppressive system. Way too many people with a victim mentality waiting around for someone to give them shit.
That is car culture. Putting all their bucks into fancy cars and at their social house they sits orange crates. Same thing over here in the Netherlands; Maroccans drive in BMW's, Mercedes's and Audi's, but those fools can not afford the AAA.
Nice man cool video. It’s crazy but like 2014 it was twice as bad. Like that opening shot with the murals, half of its missing because the homes have been torn down. The vacant lot the cop was sitting in used to be bombed out houses. Very similar to Baltimore and Detroit how they’ve been knocking down bandos by the hundreds in the past 5-7 years. Just imagine everywhere you see these huge lots used to be houses. Before the county police force took over it was a total warzone. It’s not good by any means now but the murder rate is down about 40% and a good portion of the vacants are gone. While you’re in the area you should do a video of Chester, PA. There’s a large portion just off the highway that’s nothing but bombed out rowhomes. If you go soon you can capture it before it’s gone. Much like Camden, a lot of these worst areas are being completely leveled and replaced by affordable housing (easy to tell which ones I’m talking about when the homes are brand new with fresh aluminum siding…but everything around it is brick, old and burnt out)
I live in the UK and we have local Councils that are responsible for rubbish collections potholes etc WHO is responsible in these areas in the USA and why is there no local shops all ???i see is LIQUOR shops It just look a horrible mess and no one cares or is held accountable ever
Because this is a ghetto neighborhood and even if they had the money to fix the roads and buildings They wouldn’t want to because the people that frequent these areas don’t give a shit about their community so it would go to shit in no time
@@nnis75 lol willingboro and Burlington city? What? 8 percent of the Willingboro is below the poverty line and you trying to compare to Camden. You are just Naming black areas. Smh

@@cmc2690 What do you expect them to do? The government can give them more money and the people will still destroy their neighborhoods. I'm not defending government. I am not even a supporter of the belief in government. It is an issue of the mental state of the people living there.
@@lex.cordis the state and government funnel money into neighborhoods like this and it never makes it never serves it purpose.. just ends up in some rich person pockets.once again not the peoples fault, it’s easy for you to say cuz you’re in the outside looking in

It’s not a coincidence that most poor neighborhoods/cities that aren’t majority are like this across the Americas..
When I was 16 my friend and I went to stay at his brothers place in cherry hill. We were big pot heads at the time and his brother in all his genius decided to bring us to Camden to score some pot. Aside from it being an insanely stupid idea it was the first time I saw how bad places in America could be. Just blocks after blocks of boarded up homes.

@@mardiffv.8775 you are absolutely right, and from the looks of it, the conditions of the neighborhood are the direct result of everything you just mentioned.
They really did a good job with cleaning it up crime wise. Not saying they dont have a long way to go but it for sure calmed down. Camden in the 90's boy fuckin violent. It still is but not as bad. You never seen cops back in the day now they are on foot on bikes and driving around.
Very funny I live in beautiful west Hollywood and skid row is not beautiful but you do have some sarcasm 😅they have cleaned up skid row quite a bit I would like for California someday to be ruled by Republicans someday and I believe it will someday before 2035

A friend who was a treasury agent was on a stake out with his partner. Camden cop comes up and pointed a gun at him asking for id. Agent had his weapon under his jacket and things got dicey.
