I used four zip tie's to attach one of these to the back panel of my molle vest for an all day AK class & it worked GREAT! The insulation kept the water cold & the bite-valve cover kept lead dust & dirt off the bite-valve.
very cool beast! I love my camelback systems. The newer bags and bit valves with disconnects and all pretty much rock! I was not aware of the filter option. Will have to get one for sure! Thanks again!
This thing is awesome thanks for sharing. One i would have liked to know is how much it is and where can i get it? i went to camelbak website but could not find that particular one, and i want that 6L one. I always find myself sharing the waster in my 2L Camelbak with other people i go bush wacking with. Excellent review.
If you plan on leaving your filter inline with the drink tube, then in order to use the pump attachment to fill the bladder, you will have to remove the filter otherwise you'll be backflushing it back into the bladder. It rather sucks that the Sawyer that sawyer filter isn't compatible with the quick connects on that camelback. However that is nothing that couldn't be solved with cutting the tube and using different quick connects for the Sawyer. I wish platypus had a bladder of that size.
@UnAgreable Yeah, I saw the Camelbak Sixbak after a bunch of digging myself. However from what I've see the Sixbak is one closeout at many places or is no longer available like beast12101 mention. I can find just the bladder and drinking tube itself at many places, but the insulated sleeve with the attachment points adds a lot of utility to it.
@bwillan I wondered the same thing and after much digging I think Beast actually has the Camelbak Sixbak, correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I found.
Very cool. I have been lugging around nalgenes in addition to my 3L bladder. This would definitely be good for a person who drinks water like a fish...kinda like me.
Isn't it better to use just the bladder inside your bag without the casing around it? Seems like that would take a lot of room in the bag.. Also do they sell the sleeve that goes over the tube separately?
That was a good review of a hydration bladder that I found to be interesting. I will look around to see if anyone has any bladders left for purchase. Any suggestions welcomed for this product.
@beast12101 How do you feel about just getting the bladder? I am modeling my water redundancies after your video with some climate specific things(I live in Southern Cali) I was thinking the 6L for my backpack and having a smaller one for missions around the camp site? I just dont want to overdue it but I would like to have both. I do like the thermobak Ab its just a 3L but I like having the straps for mini missions. Any thoughts?
What kind of filter is in the inline filter? is it safe to drink without boiling or purifying without getting some water born pathogen? How effective is the filter? Is it just for taste?
Where did you get this bladder with the sleeve from? The camelbak site only shows the bladder only after much digging around. Could you post a link in the description?
Now I know there are people out there saying or winning that 6L of water is too much to put in my backpack 🎒,summer/winter.The answer is,then don't fill it up that much then, I carry 3L of water in my BCA STASH 30 backpack 🎒 but I also can carry 2L of water in the same bladder along with my AVY PROBE,SHOVEL,SNOWSAW,SNOW STUDY KIT,EXTRA TOOLS,LEATHER MAN,SKI STRAP'S, WHISTLE (2),RATCHET TOOL,FIRST AID KIT.THIS IS WHAT I HAVE IN MY PACK WHEN INBOUNDS.WHEN I'M BACKCOUNTRY, IT'S ALL THE SAME EQUIPMENT BUT THE BACKPACK 🎒 IS A BCA FLOAT 32 2021 RED AND WITH OTHER PEOPLE WEARRING AVY TRANSCEIVER S IN TRANSMITT MODE.,NEW BATTERIES.
wouldnt keeping the pump and the filter together and pumping in the clean water save the filter because then you wouldnt need to use it when u fill the bag with the tap water at your housethe filter would just be an emergency type item for me and i would save it just for tht
