In this episode, we take a short excursion to Nuccio's Nursery in Altadena, California. The Nuccio brothers Tom and Jim specializes in camellias and azaleas. Being already early March I kinda missed the peak of the camillas but with this COVID19 Safer @ Home Order hinder me getting out earlier with remote work. But, Tom was a great host and toured us around the place and especially the back end where the mother trees are located and their propagation area! If you have not been out to Nuccio's before its an great place to get lost. I'll probably have to go back in January/February to show off the camellias and March/April to show the regular azaleas off. I like to thank the Tom Nuccio spending part of the day with me and please if you like these type of videos please like, comment and subscribe. It give us an idea you enjoy them!

My wife and I have visited Nuccio's every year for 15 years in February to give each other Valentine's gifts of plants. Tom has always been our guide (I think we went as much for his tours as the plants!) This year we went for maybe our last time due to the nursery's pending sale. I cannot tell you how sad we were to lose this "Noah's Ark" of the camellia world. We love you Tommy.

This is just what I needed - a mini-course of strong technical advice & information. I'm about 18 months into learning about & growing Camellias & long for information like this. Thanks so much.

Thanks for this helpful information. I just planted 2 yuletide Camellia in the beginning of November. I will have to train them though cause of where I planted them I don't want them to get to tall or wide. Maybe 4 to 5 foot tall and about 3 wide is what im wanting to train it and shape in maybe an oval type shape.

Camellia bonsai is a long term investment as there is no shortcuts to speed the process forward.

Buenas tardes, sé que es una pregunta tonta porque nunca ví que las Camelias se propagan mediante esquejes en agua, pero es posible propagarlas así ? Gracias.

No, Tom Nuccio mentioned that cuttings rot easy if too wet. Maybe in a gel medium?
