Who's jamming this in 2024? This is one of my favorite Cameo songs. I seen them in concert in 1983 at the Kool Fest in Cincinnati, OH and they JAMMED!!! They were young and in their prime!!!!!!!!
True story. 7th grade, I'm on the school bus heading to class. Our bus driver was hip and kept the radio tuned to 92.5. They played all the jams! I distinctly remember "Candy" coming on and everyone would go nuts!
Cameo is world renowned for Candy and LB’s infamous red cup BUT the catalog is grossly underrated and this group deserves to be in the Rock n Roll HoF if they are not already
These guys clearly had a great sense of humour. And they all know how to ham it up for the camera. Pure entertainment. They were very ready for the MTV era.
@@1HelluvaGuyBXIt wasn’t BLACK music, it was the sexual and violent nature that was the problem. Had they stuck to this, perhaps the crap hip hop, and gangsta garbage we see today, ruining the youth, could have been avoided. I don’t EVER remember any problems with playing Stevie Wonder, or Tina Turner, or what about MJ? You couldn’t turn on music channels without Jackson everywhere. Just because certain music, that used to be offensive in society was panned, does not mean it was racial. Motley Crüe was never allowed at first. And heavy metal? They were lucky to get a half hour show at midnight, on Sunday’s, and that was filled with useless talking….no real music.
I've always felt like Larry Blackmon didn't get enough credit for what he did for music. I feel the same about full force. All these guys are so underrated and under appreciated
This has GOT to be one of the BEST videos of all time. Miles Davis...a swinging cod piece...dancing...body builders...it's got EVERYTHING!! And that flying pan with the gunshot at 1:26 will NEVER get old😂😎
Yes yes yall that's the immortal Miles Davis in the video. Miles always embraced up and coming musicians. He was a huge Prince fans and even showed Jimmy Hendrix some chord progressions.
Am I the only one who finds it ironic that two controversial games series (Saints Row and GTA) have consistently provided younger generations with a medium to discover great old school music?
i remember when i was in college and we all used to dance to it,good old days…it's crazy how 31 years have gone by already,if you're reading this take this advice:live every moment till the last because time files and life waits for no one…
Trust me man , today's young gen won't know what the true music was about , back when we had all love for everyone none of this bullshit race war and constant animosity with everyone they were good times
+Joshua Edwards lol I love this kind of music.. i'm only 16 .. lol I was born in 99 but my dad jammed music like this all to that dirty south... and my mom and my grandma was more al green and Marvin Gaye all the to Wu tang and stuff lol so I love the old school hip hop and RnB.. i'm sure there are more of "our" generation out there ..
I remember getting off a midnight shift in the Air Force and not being able to fall asleep in the day time .My roommate introduced this song with instructions low volume on the Walkman. Man I was out by the third My Love Goes. Thank You Sporty Spence Rozier from Miami FL.
I wonder what nightclubs were like when this was released, nightlife must have been buzzing! Also the jazz dance/Horton routines are always incredible in their videos, shows so much appreciation for the art form!
Night clubs where the meeting spot for all the adults then, Small cover charge with after work happy hours that featured 2 dollar drinks and soul food buffets. Hang out after work for a few hours go home and shower call your boys up and ask "Where the happenings at tonight?" The Cameo album "Word up!" Was always something that kept the dance floor packed. Your correct it was a great time to be young and in the clubs.
Cameo is the UNDISPUTED kings of funk. No one has done what they have. They stood tite , holding they own , amongst Prince & Rick . Starting that era with 'shake your pants' and ending it with 'FLLIRRRRTT ' ! , then went on a lengthy hiatus . The second coming of Cameo started with 'Word Up' and all that followed was smash mf hits! The transformation of their music was incredible .. .and no one has ever did that as successfully as Cameo. Fans are not always kind to change. I'm trying to stay away from the words "reinvent themselves" , bcuz it is more of an evolution of a band than it is a reinvention of one. They have lived 2 lives... & they still Cameo !
1980 thru 1989 was a great time to be alive for me.I turned 17 in 1980 and turned 26 in 1989.Man those were some fun years for me.And now here I am about to turn 59,GOD willing in less than two months and I'm still jammin to Cameo and their music.Life is still for me and 2 me and I hope it is for you 2.✌✌✌✌
Thought I was seeing things, but nope - that was Miles Davis! He must have really respected these Brothers to appear in this video. Was also around time he came back out of hibernation with the TuTu album, etc.
This ia by far my favorite up tempo jam of theirs. I wore this song out !!! That Miles Davis look was scary. But that was his style during his last days of living. R.I.P. Look at Kiki Shepard from Apollo.
LYRICS There's a special kind of person Sometimes she's not all she seems You only see what she wants you to see And before you really know it always seems to go Back and forth (Our love goes) Take your chances if you will (those looks can kill) It'll make you go round & around You got to know it by now That the truth is you just can't win Loves funny like that It'll make you blow your cap Sacrifice everything and money Love has no guarantee's And always will it be Back and forth Take stabs dip and dab Forever tryin' to find your way It's a sellers lament For all the love you spent You must have thought it was a bottomless pit You can't do it like that Love will show you where it's at What you put up you'll surely get back Cause there's no other way If you play you'll pay Back and forth Love has no guarantee's And always will it be Back and forth
@@karlhelm875 For you fans out there, I just caught that Attack me with your love video continues in Single life, but don't you agree it's not the best "to be continued"? Or did I miss some video in between?
Old school music was just the best music, not just off music but the message within the song. Applying it life could save a lot of pain and heartache. Almost like listening to life advice by grandparents.
The music video slaps. Even better than what's made nowadays in part cause it's authentic, no cgi or stuff like that, and not overwhelming like a lot are.
Quintessential great 80's video: Over the top, great/catchy song, dated...and usually good for something you just can't get today for whatever reason. Miles Davis is that something...seeing the jazz G.O.A.T. in a 'cameo' just puts it over the top. And even one of the best musicians who ever lived strikes out! Damn.
Omg🤯🤯🤯🤯 how dude kicks that door in and gives that girl what looks to be a funky bass line solo to the face im just now noticing that!!! That is some legendary shh man!! That song that era that group and that dude kickin in that door and dropping that solo lick. Wow
