I review the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, which is a great upgrade from the standard Canon kit lens that offers a fairly wide focal length range, crisp optics and good build quality. I've used this lens for nearly a year and have shot over 2500 photographs with it so I wanted to share my experiences with this lens and give you an idea of how this lens works in everyday shooting situations. I also show you some images that I've shot with the lens to give you an idea of the image quality.

Hi! I have bought this lens used for 300 euros and I'm really happy with it. I agree with your comments, it is a lens for outdoor use. I use it with a polarizer filter (Marumi) all the time and it performs really well. Thanks for the review, best regards from Portugal.

The only complain I got that your review comes one year too late :) I bought the lens last year as well as upgrade of the same kitlens. Nice and straight forward review. Mine creeps too, it's just a habit of the lens. Though it's not cheap I use it the most next to my 70-200 F4 L USM. And yes, it's very close to L optics (maybe at 15mm it's not).

I think they are both good quality lenses. I think the 15mm on the Canon is better because at that focal length the extra 2mm wider view makes a real difference.

The 18-135 lens has an overall lower optical quality than this one, but not by much. I have the 18-135 and just got the 15-85 to get the slight improvement in IQ and USM focusing. Coming from using both lenses, the only physical differences are build quality, USM and focus indicator window.

Just got this lens, a tad disappointed in indoor lighting, but think I need to experiment more to get the best out of it. Got it for its sharpness and your pics show that

The lens isn't super fast so indoor shooting might be a bit of a challenge, especially at low ISO. Add a flash though and the lens should be fine indoors. Sharpness is a great quality of the lens!

Agreed. The 18-135 is a very good lens. My wife uses it on her Rebel Xsi and really likes it for it's "all in one" range as well as its image quality, which is very close to the 15-85.
