I bought this lens new quite a few years ago (for about £600 I think) and I bloody loved it. I couldn't get over how versatile it was without making any major sacrifices. Now I'm getting back into my amateur photography I'm very seriously considering getting one again... don't ask me why I sold it because I can't remember 😅 But good to see a fellow fan. Great video!
For a fair review of use in 2022 this is very solid! Have bought a used one too a few days ago and I'm looking forward to use it for my go around lens! Usually have been using Canon 600D + 24mm f/2.8 and I liked the setup a lot, having a big zoom lens will need getting used to, but I believe I'll get a lot more images with this! Cheers from Indonesia!
I bought one last year (2022) from KEH and I love it. I paid just under $300 and it was in great shape. I use it on my 90D. It produces photos that are 'tack sharp'. I do not take many shots in low light so I can't comment on that. All I can add is that this is the sleeper of the Canon EF-S line.
Great! I also have a 90D and saw this lens for sale for an extremely low price. After watching this video and reading your comment I will definitely buy one too
Really good video. I’ve got a Canon 7D Mk2, which I use for aviation photography. I have a Sigma 150-600 sport lens, but in the market for something smaller as well. This lens looks just the job.
Mirrorless has reached critical mass and people are dumping dslr lenses. For those of us willing to stay with dslr it is Christmas every day on the used market. Canon 18-135 is usm nano is my other walkaround less. Wish I would have discovered them years ago.
Shhhh! Don’t let everyone in on our DSLR secret with these lenses dropping in price. Don’t throw me out of the club but I just picked up an R6 MKII for Christmas. I still have my 90D & 5DMKIV. I’m adapting my old EF/EF-S lenses to my R62 and they’ve producing amazing images with the newer sensor. The 5DMKIV holds its own, image wise with that 30mp sensor. It’s awesome having a full frame mirrorless camera that can shoot RF, EF, & EF-S lenses including 3rd party DSLR. Mirrorless cameras are becoming more reasonably priced but I still enjoy my dslrs. Awesome video - thanks again
@@mayanksharma4645 I’ve see reviews where the 15-85mm is sharper than the 18-135mm. The 18-135mm is lighter and quieter with the STM focus motor. You get more range out of the 18-135mm telephoto wise. I ended up buying both of them used. Neither disappoints.
@@mayanksharma4645 I’m sorry, I’m all mixed up. Getting ready for Christmas visitors. I found the 15-85 for $162.00 last year. It’s still working perfectly and is a sharp lens.
An APSC lens can be put on a full frame camera ... But you will damage the mirror assembly. What confused me when I made this mistake many years ago, is that all full frame lens's work perfect on an APSC camera, just x1.6 for the new focal length e.g a 200mm full frame becomes a 360mm on APSC. I have 9 full frame and this one APSC lens. You are right - the original price was too high, but it reflected the engineering that went into it. A solid work horse lens, a big step up from the cheap kit lens's. The price now should make it a go-to lens for any APSC user.
It’s okay for videos the only things I would be weary of is it’s not wide enough for vlogging and the autofocus does make a little noise personally though I have been using it to make my videos ever since I got it.
It’s brilliant on a nikon z50 with the Fringer adapter as well. 22.5-127.5mm. A great range and it’s sharp, fast accurate af, is is very good too. A great lens! I’m sure it’ll be amazing on the new R7 but having to use an adapter makes it a little too big for street or casual shooting. Canon should remake the same lens in R mount and make it lighter and a bit smaller then it would be perfect.
It mainly depends on your needs was this lenses main advantage is the range so if you’d like the extra 2mm on the wide and 35mm on the tele ends this is for you. In relation to the sigma the thing I’d say is the sigmas focal length range is very similar to your standard kit lens so your not gonna be getting much extra unless you don’t have a kit lens in your kit.
@@FrostMonolithand the 17-55mm f/2.8 has image stabilizer problems after some years of use. So buying one used is a gamble. I looked for one as a viable 2.8 on my Canon C-100 MKII. I decided to go with the 24-105mm USM L, 15-85mm EFS, and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. I use these lenses on my Canon 90d also. The C-100 really likes an f/2.8 and faster for good lighting. It still does well if you can add light in a dark room or event but that’s not always possible. ISO 850 is the sweet spot for the C-100 and you don’t want to stray too far from that to let more light in.
Yes, it does make a little noise autofocusing though but this is very slight so can only be picked up during large focus racks when the mic is also on top of the camera.
It’s not recommended because the aperture is horrible, is slow, it doesn’t come with a hood and it suffers from lens creep. The range 15-85 is awesome but that’s about all the lens has going for it. A Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 is a far better option.
Ive had both at the same time and i let go of that sigma after just over a week. The canon focused faster and more accurately without hunting much at all. It's also a tad sharper.
