The line "It wasn't me, it was the one-armed man" is a reference to the Fugitive starring Harrison Ford. That movie came out slightly before the Mask and was really big in pop culture at the time. The movie is based on a real life case where a man was falsely accused of murdering his wife. As for Jim Carrey movies they are all good, but specifically Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura. Great reaction!!!

Jim Carey, like Robin Williams is an actor that made me laugh through my childhood and on through adolescence I appreciate this man so much for his work! Even seeing him in an interview or on a talk show or award show was a treat, he also did something to make you laugh If you do Ace Ventura please do both one and two, so so good! 😅❤

@@MajorReacts there's debate over which is better, Ace Ventura 1 or 2. I lean towards 2, but I might be biased because it was filmed in my hometown of Charleston. Regardless of whether or not you like the 1st or 2nd the best, the 2nd has one of the funniest scenes in ALL of movie history, THE RHINO SCENE.

It's one of my favorites of all time and I'll say now that if you do enjoy it please also watch the underrated sequel "The Mummy Returns", it's more of the same but very enjoyable. One particular scene's CGI at the end is really bad though (the rest of the movie is fine with CGI) but, luckily it's not for long and doesn't ruin the experience in my opinion (though I did grow up with those movies).

Jim Carry was already _pretty_ famous before them, but three movies really cemented his career. 'The Mask', 'Ace Ventura' and 'Dumb and Dumber.' They fixed him in as a comedy actor so much that people were kind of surprised when he starred in 'The Trueman Show' because its a drama (with scattered humor granted)

The mask is a series of comic books four issues each(sometimes more) and occasionally they teamed up with other companies. This led to one of my favorites. There's a 4 issue story where the Joker got the mask and he was beating the hell out of Gotham city till Batman played on his ego and got him to take the mask off.

A lot of the references here go back DECADES and you don't really need to have seen the sources to appreciate Carey's performance or understand he's borrowing lines. "You were good kid, real good. But as long as I'm around you'll always be second best." Is from The Cincinnati Kid (1965) and they would not expect their audience to have seen that.

Yes, this is based on a comic book. The mask brings out your inner self, so in Stanley's case he loves cartoons so that's what the Mask did for him. Great movie! This movie, along with "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" really put Jim Carrey on the map as a bankable star. Do yourself a favor and do NOT watch the sequel, "Son of the Mask". You will be super disappointed.

I eventually got to see the uncut version again and realized they cut out the WHOLE scene just for a 2 second condom joke. 19:27 - This is Pepe LePew if he was as bad as the Cancel Cultists think he was. And the object of Pepe's affection would always be a cat (and once a chihuahua) that got accidentally painted to look like a skunk (which is why they always resisted his advances: the smell). 221:31 - Cuban Pete was written in 1946 for a movie of the same name. The Mask is a Darkhorse Comic, that's why you felt like it was a town the Flash would be in or something. The Mask IS a comic character. He has Toon Force, the same powers as Bug's Bunny and Roger Rabbit. While the actual Mask comic is NOT family friendly, he's a brutal maniac who kills and laugh at it lol, Here they watered the character down. The best way to describe the Mask is, Deadpool with Toon Force powers. He breaks the 4th wall like Deadpool is brutal like Deadpool but thanks to Toon Force, which is the ability to make reality whatever the hell you want as long as you find it funny, and you have The Mask.

great reaction! the reason he acted like a looney toon is because part of what the mask does is enhance your personality, Stanley was a goofy guy who loved looney tunes so it shows that to the extreme when he wears the mask, same happens to Dorian when he wears the mask, he’s an evil dude so the evil in him was enhanced

Dumb and Dumber I think is his best. In that one, you not only get Jim Carrey, but Jeff Daniels as well. After that one, I'd watch Truman. That way you get to see both sides (range) of what Jim can due. So, Dumb and Dumber (which is his best comedy) then Truman where Jim plays a serious role. Truman makes you think. Loved your reactions, specially this one. Mask makes you want to start watching cartoons again.
