What's makes this "trying too hard" to you? Just curious, I personally didn't think the editing was too gratuitous or detracting from the climbing.

Some like it, some don't. That's how it goes with edits... and everything else.

@@spacedumpster Personal preference but for me a good climbing video is about the place, the climber, the climb and the climbing. It should be immersive, about the moment of climbing. its about letting the ingredients speak for themselves with crisp, clean shots that make you feel like you're there. This feels like the "ingredients" are so aggressively doused in skater-bro sauce I cant appreciate the actual climbing. The video quality is bad, its pretty poorly filmed, the transitions are bad, it doesn't lay out the story in a compelling manner. The retro (and seemingly purposefully aggressively cheesy) effects with aggressive music takes me out of the video, I feel like I'm being force-fed / sold "cool" like I'm a 14 YO skater kid. Mellow just tries too hard sometimes. We get it, you're the bad boys of rock climbing 🙄. Climbing is a beautiful sport, the trashy, aggressively skater-boy-forward artistic direction is just lame to me. But different strokes for different folks I suppose...
