Great video illustrating the difference between the virginity of the Norte and the peoplee-ness of the Frances.

Thanks for this video as I was on the fence as to which route to try my first attempt. Now, I definitely will go to the Norte route. “Buen Camino” Thanks for all your advice and sharing your experiences.

Hi, thank you for all the hard work you have put on in your videos-for which I’m greatly humbled by your honesty and vigour thereof. Thank you again. I will be cycling the del Norte in October 2023. I’m hoping to cycle it in about 14 days if possible. I would be very thankful if you so would so kindly to share your thoughts/ideas, please-for which I thank you in advance. If you had to do the del Norte all over again what would you do differently-if any? I very much look forward to your most favourable response at a suitable time. Thank you kindly. Stay safe always ;•3 PS: If you do not mind, I wonder where you both are based nowadays? Thank you.

Hi, thank you for being with us and watching. Oh wow good luck on your cycling you got it we are sure of it! To be honest we walked it, but we did saw a lot of people on the bicycles, by us or more suitable roads for bicycles. Some parts of the trail were not so suitable for bicycles where we walked but thankfully there are always another paths for people on the bike, so nothing to be scared of. They are always clearly marked so you won't have any issues with that, only thing we would do differently would be skipping some days because it was road walking, but for you being on a bicycle i don't think that would be an issue, and another tip is eat as much as you can of Menu del Dia, that's our only regret not having enough of that haha. But any major regrets i don't think we have, if we can we would do it all over again the same way we did! Stay safe and take care on your Camino.

I'm enjoying watching your walk on the Norte; thanks for creating the videos. I walked the Frances in 2022 from SJPP to Santiago. I have to say that the section from Sarria on to Santiago is the section that many dislike. While what you have said about this section of the Frances is true, it doesn't apply to the rest of the Frances. There are plenty of remote areas, sections without many services, and a good deal of hills/mountains (crossing the Pyrenees and O'Cebreiro are examples); I have read that the Norte is more difficult and scenic that most of the Frances - but Sarria to Santiago is not really indicative of the Frances.

Thank you for watching, love having you here, oh wow thanks for clarifying that, I'm sure someone will find it useful! We are just comparing things we know, we want for all the people to know that all Caminos are amazing Caminos, there is no doubt in that, just it was a shock for us, but glad it's not all so busy 😊

Great video. I enjoyed watching. I haven’t seen much about the Norte route, so I am looking forward to looking back through all your videos to learn more. Once I complete the Portuguese Way, I may do this one next.

Thank you so much on your kind words! We would highly recommend the Del Norte, we had some mistakes and issues but would never change our experience on Del Norte.

May was the busiest month this year. Many have mixed feelings about the last 100km. It turns into something quite different from the meditative tranquility that they had enjoyed until that point. Looking forward to the next video!

The final 100km of the Frances is like a completely different Camino compared to the other odd 700km. Im looking forward to doing the Portugese & Norte one day. Since returning ive found out weve got a Camino here in England which is part of the Camino de Santiago & even get a Compostella walking from London to Canterbury & then on to Ransgate on the coast where English Pilgrims used to sail to France or Northern Spain. Great video, mad how crowded it gets once all the Caminos join up. Planning for next year just unsure wether to do Portugese for first time or Frances again. Buen Camino 👣👣

Would highly recommend the Norte and we are seriously thinking about Portugese as well! Oh wow we keep seeing caminos all over Europe happening lately, amazing!!! World needs more of it!

We are not mad, we were just honestly shocked and wanted to share it with everyone else, because it goes from seeing handful of pilgrims, to walking and seeing hundreds of people. We are still blessed for the opportunity we got, Buen Camino.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the two caminos. My wife and I have been section hiking caminos to determine which one we want to through hike in a few years. To us the Frances has that Camino culture and a lot more support. You feel that Camino history. But the explosion in popularity can be a turnoff. That last 100k felt like we were part of a conga line, especially after Arzua. The Norte has unparalleled scenery and more solitude. But it lacks that Camino culture and history. It was more like a long distance hike. It all came together though when we hit Santiago. So there is something for everyone. Thanks and Buen Camino!

Question please why not walk from Camino del Norte to Compostela itself ? i think there is a way walking norte without passing frances to Santiago ?
@ellieandsenci
@ellieandsenci Год назад
I'm not sure about that, there was no specific explanation that there is direct way from del Norte to arrive, it's our first Camino so we kinda went with the flow there, maybe next time we will try to find that way 😊

Doing the del Norte felt like you were an independent traveller walking through Spain; the Frances by comparison felt like you were part of an industrial machine. I think there are good aspects of both, but it was definitely a bit of a rude awakening for me when I reached the Frances. I feel like you folk will be walking another Camino in a couple of years time 🙂

How scary was it to get out of Bilbao? Cycling out of Bilbao could turn into a huge nightmare to the max-I’m afraid. What do you think, please?
@ellieandsenci
@ellieandsenci Год назад
Hi, to be honest getting out of Bilbao was really easy for us since we took the trail by the river, it was flat, straight and it took us 1-2h. We heard there is mountain path as well but we were very tired so we took a little shorter one, hope that helps.
