@Akaraien nice vid ill definitely try this later, at 2:55 im not sure if you if you're aware but after the back medium punch target combo you can partially charge heavy spiral arrow in the corner and juggle into heavy dp for a substantial damage increase that wont switch sides.
i'm use to playing akuma so holigan seems similar to his demons flip. currently i'm trying muscle memory myself to cammy's controls. i sometimes want to do holigan in my mind but end up doing spiral arrow lol
I was just testing this, but isn't going for a safejump better? you are safe from dp and punish mash, jump and throw attemps, and you get a strong combo since it started with a jump in without using any meter. while hooligan uncharged and non OD overhead reward is good, jump in reward is stronger and safer, and you can also mix it with an empty low or a throw. The overhead option can be beat by a regular dp, and the throw can be beat by jump. while both are risky options, safejump is fully safe and better reward without meter, but charged or OD hooligan gets better rewards across the board. But I think empty low is better than hooligan low option, since you get a combo from a low, even if a weak one. while hooligan low you don't always get a combo, and more importantly is way slower.
@jimbobobo yeah, but then again, perfect parry can beat a lot of things with a weak reward, but at least getting some oki due to the heavy scaling, including hooligan overhead. The only way to beat perfect parry is a throw, something both options can do, but hooligan does better, especially if charged.
@yenice3652 you can do this same combo 4Hk into medium spiral arrow, then jump with a Hp. If you time it right, you beat a lot of option, and still safe from dp.
You have to condition them to be blocking. Just like DPs in Guilty Gear and every other game, getting punished is very bad news. The first hooligan Akaraien is doing is the quick fall because it leaves him in a +1 situation. If your opponent Dps while you're chilling there, they're omega screwed. Once they start doing other options, you can walk up grab, use lights for low pressure or do over heads/throws off the hooligan to mix them up. Remember it's not a mixup if you try to overhead everytime and you don't need to mixup if they ex dp on wakeup every time.
Great vid bro, the timing on that Cr. Hp after overhead is tricky without CH so I’ll probably opt for target combo for now. But definitely putting this into practice.
What do you think of Zangief, Akarien? And of Marisa? Not like tier lists, but have you fought them, and what are your thoughts based on those matches?
sorry I am a noob, I am just trying that 11 frame meaty set up because I think thats all I will actually be able to execute in a match with my skills as of right now. I will eventually get your hooligan set up down tho. The issue I am having is that the 11 frame meaty isnt connecting when I have the bot set to block after first hit. it has 11 frame advantage, the move is 8 frames and the bot is blocking it. Is it something I am doing, or is this meaty setup for if they wake up mash?
Hum...I could be wrong, so I will test it, but yo do your setup @7:07, she back rolls and avoid it easily, she didn't know about it, but I'm pretty sure she could have punish counter you on that after the back roll. Doesn't look like a real oki to me. At least not mid screen if it doesn't cover back roll.
Its weird how ppl play day 1 cammy with no risk and complain that it does no damage. Like no shit youre doing no damage youre just looping meaty strike/throw mix. If you dont take the pressure you create and take an offensive risk you dont really deserve damage
The problem to me is hooligan reward isn't that good for the risk, especially if not charged or OD. Only good reward uncharged is the overhead, but jump ins have better reward and less risk if you do the same setup but safejump instead.
