Just bend those latches a little more at the bend or crease and that should give you the tension needed for it to stay locked. Eazy-peezy.

New toys are always awesome. I don't know anything about Camp Chef, but I know with my new griddle, I registered it online and they replaced missing parts. Hopefully you can do the same and get a new latch for no cost. 1 tip I will give you when cooking is that the heat deflects off of the bottom of the griddle and comes out around the sides, this gets pretty hot on your belly as you cook. Having said that, I am having a lot of fun cooking on my griddle and I hope you do too. Happy Easter & stay safe Johnny!!

I love all my Camp Chef stuff. Yes, they dropped the ball on that latch! I agree with you, to heavy to be called "Portable" Folding legs doesn't make something portable. My flat top is not portable, but I take it camping, I bet it is lighter than you "Portable" one! Good review, hope they contact you, they are good people and Company!

Thanks so much for the video, I think you might be the first to post a video on the Camp Chef FTG600P. I personally love the concept of legs that fold flat, because that will allow much easier transport in your RV, Truck or Van. Those legs in combination with the levelers is very well thought out. I emailed Camp Chef to inquire about the correct bag that is compatible with the FTG600P. I'll post an update as soon as I hear from them. Update on 05/06/2020 - From Camp Chef Customer Support regarding the correct bag that will accommodate the FTG6009: "The model number will be CB600P. We haven't released it yet but should be released within the next month." Best Regards, Camp Chef Customer Support

It will definitely take up a lot less space when transporting. The camp chef people were also very nice to me when I told them about the latch. They replaced the latch... no questions just happy to help.

Thanks for posting the video, as I recently ordered the same portable model from Camp Chef! To conserve space on my deck, I ordered the portable model so that I can store it on a shelf in my garage when not in use and keep the griddle in a bag to protect it. Best of luck with the griddle!

@@Viewtoagrill Johnny- I received my portable griddle this afternoon and just set it up, with no real issues. Quick question for you - There was a small cylindrical piece attached to a short thin chain on the side of the burner unit. Is this the manifold? Does it need to be inserted somewhere? Thanks - Mark

That is used to match light the burners. You stick a match on the end of that...light it... then stick it through the hole to light the closest burner... and then you can turn on each burner one at a time right down the line until they are all lit... did the latches secure tightly on yours or were they lose like mine.

I have a non portable camp chef griddle. I love it except it’s warps very easily. After heating it up, if I throw a refrigerated bag of meat on top, it warps. I have to put one at a time to prevent warping. Luckily, keeping the heat in, it straightens itself out. But it’s very disconcerting.

My wife has been looking at flat tops. The Camp Chef looks nice! Well, except for the latches. I hate it when I get something in the mail and there’s just one little thing that makes it imperfect. It will just eat at me until I can fix or replace it.

Wow, OK! Nice new flat top but I must agree that it doesn't look very "portable" seeing how when you lift it, it doesn't look very light. I find it hard to believe in that image of the gal carrying it that it's that easy to carry around. Question, after you added the flat top it doesn't look like the side shelves would close back up? Do you have to take the flat top off to close it up?

So I went to Camp Chef and it says it weighs 100lbs without the griddle and 122lbs with. That's pretty heavy for being portable..... Do you plan on taking it places? It's a nice big grill for sure :)

Hello Terry. No the griddle can stay on to close the covers. A cover helps keep the moisture off of the griddle. That will help prevent rust.

Was thinking about getting this griddle! Seems like yours is only review and or video I can find on it right now, besides the camp chef ad video for it. On their website it looks like they have added the carry case for it but the video is miss leading as it seems like you will two cases, one for the grill body and a separate one for the griddle.

Interesting, when I emailed them to tell them about the latch I mentioned that the ad was misleading about the case. I m glad they added it... but... they did not send me one. Not that big of a deal I guess. I’m glad they did that. Also, they are extremely nice folks. Take care.

I’m surprised at how much the carry bags cost, 60 for the body and 30 for the griddle, since it seems that this griddle is marketed more towards being portable and if you really wanted to take it places you would really need the carry bags

Looks great. I'm currently debating between this version and the one on the cart. I suppose I'd want to move the griddle around the patio more often than get it into a car, so the portable one doesn't make as much sense for me.

I ended up billing a cart for this so I can move it around better on the patio... and when I travel with it a fold it up and take it along with me.. it is very heavy though... so portable is relative.

Do you think this one is better for adjusting the level since it has 4 adjusters whereas the cart version only has levelers on 2 sides?

slawry2010 I think it is better for adjusting. I put the right side a little higher than the left so the oil can drain towards the hole in the grease trough. When I bought it it did not come with a travel bag... not sure if it does now.

Yeah they do cost more than a BlackStone. I like the fact that it has four burners. A BlackStone this size will only have 3. I think last year or the year before BlackStone was putting in 4 burners for a similar size... but at the time I bought this I do not believe they were. See ya next time Brian.

Hello Richard. I did not. I called camp Chef. They sent me a new one and I replaced it. I put that in the video just to let folks know what the quality is like and then to let folks know that Camp Chef had great customer service and replaced the latch with no problem. I really enjoy this flat top.

Exactly! Did you see the picture of the woman carrying it around though without any problems...? This thing is heavy. It does take up less space and can be put in the trunk of a car.

The camp chef pizza oven is nice but have you seen the Ooni pizza oven that works with pellets... I’d like to get my hands on that to see how it is. They say it gets to over 900 degrees.
