This was really concise and clear throughout. I really appreciated that you summed up the differences with a widely-reviewed predecessor at the top and that you compared it to a well-known alternative model from a leading brand with data, but did it all in 22 minutes.

Great Video - Look just below the flashlight and you can see the AC Output states that it is 800W. I bought my 70S because of your review and so far I absolutely love it. Best deal for the money. My CPAP only drew about 10-12 watts last night. I expected it to draw at least 30 watts. Resmed 9 without the humidifier.

The 80% refers to the battery's capacity AFTER it has charged/discharged 2500 times. When you charge it, it will charge to 100%, however, I believe they designed it to shut down outputs when charge level gets to ~10% to keep battery life long.

I happen to own both a EB70 and EB70s. I can attested to fact that the fan in the EB70s unit is somewhat quieter. Unfortunately , Bluetti didn’t quiet down the power brick. The lights on the switch is brighter, but could still be a little brighter. The extra 100 watt on the 120v plugs is a nice added benefit. I got 613 watts on the EB70 and 648 on the newer EB70s ( measured on the 12 volt port at 6 amp constant drain.). I’m trying to get around to the 120 AC test, but have the winter lazies.

Thank you for the good comparison. I thought I’d been shipped the old model but your video confirms that even the EB70S will say EB70 on the label - the 800w inverter is the key to knowing you have the new model.

You ain't lying about the videos on the EB70 vs the EB70s. Nice to see someone actually bought the 70s and did a review. That screen issue was a big problem in the EB70 that I'm glad they did something different to help you see it more. Hoping they will get the screen that Ecoflow uses at some point.

I’ve been running mine with 2 -200 watt panels in parallel to run a small 120 volt fridge in my garage. And it’s been 3 weeks now. 46 watts. Is all it pulls. ( dorm room size ). Because it’s winter I get about 80 - 155 watts out of the panels depending on time of day. And up to the full 8 amps dc input. The charge controller regulates the input watts as it close to full charge and works great. So far free endless mini fridge.

Fun fact the EB70 in Australia is 1000W, I assume that is something to do with our 240V outlets. Also it's only 2 AC outputs instead of 4 but that is common because our ports are bigger and have mandatory grounding.

I have two small Jackery units that power my lights and electronics but I want something that will handle my van's refrigerator and a rice cooker. Like you I started out camping with Anker batteries and now have upgraded to these much larger battery systems. Kinda worrying tbh ill defo see if using 100w or more can kick my fans on because i do like a system that can keep cool and not overheat for safety reasons. brilliant video i thought i had an odd one without the fans kicking in when its first turned on.

I made a suggestion on the Bluetti FB and left message with Bluetti to upgrade the EB70 when I saw it only had a 700 watt inverter...and I think they listen to me. Because the gold standard for Van Life now is to use the smallest instant pot which is 750 watts instead of fuel camp stoves. So I told bluetti that the old EB70 was kind of useless for most van life users as is and if only they'd upgraded to 800 watt inverter they could really have something on the low end for the majority of van lifers. And they did with the new EB70 sport. I ended up going with the EB150. But might have gone with the EB70 instead had it had the now new 800 watt inverter.

I have the UK equivalent charger (12v 10A - 120w) that you recommended but my unit is only charging at around 10-12w with it? Any ideas why it's so low? The standard loud power brick charges the EB70 at ~200w as expected.

I'm having an indecisive decision between the eb55 vs the eb70s. Currently have the EB150 but like the ability to charge through the vehicle with these newer models. I've ran that battery down to one bar in 4 days during a Colorado trip keeping a cooler(45 watts) and phones. No real ability to charge the unit at the time. Also like having extra backups Incase of a power outage. My main use out of the EB55 or EV70s would be to keep the unit charged up from my vehicle and run a small electric cooler (about 45 watts) full time on week long trips. I would charge camera batteries, phones, and future laptop possibly. The dual input charging is great on the EB55 but that's all I can think of the benefit for me. The diffused light source is nice too. The new EB70s is great due to the battery size and ability to charge through the vehicle also. Both are currently discounted on Amazon as well. Any thoughts?

You can assume around 100W per hour of charging from your vehicles 12v system, so you can factor your daily commute time charging vs. nightly power needs. That being said, if the EB55 covers the bases then the 70 will just be extra weight to carry.

You should try an electric blanket 12 volts and in the morning try such as a coffe makeyr My EB70S worked an 35 w dc electric blanket 3 times 45 mins . In the morning 60% left so i tried my coffee maker 600w and the EB70S was dead in less than 5 mins,
@MotorsportUnplugged
@MotorsportUnplugged 2 года назад
Your math doesn't really add up there...better to convert it all to Wh: 135m @ 35w is 78.75Wh + 5m @600w is 50Wh = 128.75Wh drawn from your EB70S with an 800Wh battery pack. If it started at 100% then you have a broken battery and should contact Bluette ASAP if it's still under warranty. That being said your general point is not far off...if on a cold evening we warm a bottle of mulled wine that's 15m of 300w for 75wh, plus use the electric matress pad for maybe 2h at 80w for 160Wh, plus Tea x2 and oatmeal x2 in the morning which is 4x5m@300w for 120wh, that's close to half our battery gone in 12 hours. Add in a day of charging cell phones and gopros and maybe not much driving or time to solar charge the battery and one can get into an electron shortage pretty quick. Our solution, as dumb as it may sound, has been to wire the Bluetti's 12v input directly into our XC60's battery. That may sound dumb, but the Bluetti is smart enough to not draw down the XC's AGM battery below 12v, and the XC is smart enough to cycle it's DC rectifier to recharge the 12v system from the high voltage battery whenever the computer sees it getting low. This continuous recharging of the Bluetti, by laundering power from the HV battery through the AGM 12V battery, has totally solved our power troubles. Our last 4 day camping trip we literally never drew the battery down under 60%

I have a Bluetti EB70S battery with a Bluetti PV120 Watts solar panel. I would like to know what happens if I add a second solar panel, 120 watts for example, to recharge my EB70S battery. I ask the question because the EB70S can take a load of 200 W and in my example I give it 240 W. It is certain that a panel does not necessarily give its maximum, 120 W can give for example 90 or 100 W depending on sunshine and different conditions. But what if the conditions were optimal I had a theoretical total of 240 W? Thank You
@MotorsportUnplugged
@MotorsportUnplugged 2 года назад
There are voltage and amperage limits on the input to consider, not just the wattage, so I'm not sure how two 120w panels in series would fit within those limits. Best to ask Bluetti support.

@@frankiethefrog1752 They were nice, but they didn’t really have a useful response. Suggestions such as “turn it off and retry” don’t really work for me. I’m sure I’m different than some, but by the time I’ve contacted the manufacturer and gone to the trouble of confirming the problem with a video, I’ve already done lots and lots of research and trouble shooting. They apologized that I wasn’t satisfied and suggested that I may not understand that refrigerators can spike the power even briefly which will shut down the battery. I’ll overlook that I know that and the video clearly showed an almost immediate shut down at 700 watts, so their response was more of an automatic reply rather than a more proper “well, that’s strange. It’s supposed to work up to 800 watts.” I returned the product and bought a Bibene which I prefer. And, I’m now convinced that it’s better for me to buy a product with two or three times the specs I “think” I need. A lot of people seem happy if they can charge their phones with one of these things, but I need more power than that. The marketing hype just seems like these products aren’t all that useful for someone in my situation. Anyway, they were nice and issued a refund, paid return shipping, and offered a small discount on another product. The product itself, though, did not support the wattage claim, at least the one I received.

Question: I watching a review of the EB70 by another RU-vidr and she mentioned that the 2 plugs with holes are not actually ground plugs. Did they add grounding on the EB70S? I'm looking at this one and the ECOFLOW Delta mini or the River Max and trying to decide. But if there is no ground plug, then that eliminates one from the list. Or I guess the question is, are those holes on the portable charges not grounded for any of them and they are just there told allow for that grounding plugs to fit?
@MotorsportUnplugged
@MotorsportUnplugged 2 года назад
No it's not ground, just an open space in the plastic for the ground pin on a 3-prong plug to go. As far as I know none of them are, it's basically not possible to provide a proper ground for A/C power without hammering an 8 foot rod into the ground.

I am looking for a battery to do astrophotography. Camera, dew control, mount and computer uses 60 watts per hour (everything 12 volts DC). It would run all night. I am thinking the Jackery 500 is just a bit to small. The Jackery 1000 is to expensive. Do you think this would be a good alternative?

It isn`t a good idea to keep lithium batteries plugged in at 100% state of charge at all times while charging if you want to get the rated 2500 cycles from this. They should never be kept at 100% state of charge as it degrades the battery faster. When possible they shouldn`t even be charged up to 100% unless it`s necessary because it heats and stresses the battery cells. You can get much more life out of these batteries if you keep them cycled between 90% and 20% when you can regardless of what they say. This is even more true of lithium ion batteries. But it`s still a good idea to fully charge and discharge all power stations every couple of months in case the BMS doesn`t do a good job keeping the cells balanced I`m told.

I'm a Bluetti fan, and recently, I purchased the AC200P. My intention was to use it for 4-7 day overlanding trips and emergencies around the house. I did a test run off a full charge with a 55-watt 12-volt fridge. On the 8th day, I laughed and stopped the test as I realized I've gone way.. overkill for overlanding 😄. I was searching to find something smaller in the Bluetti family, and your review/breakdown really helped in my decision. The question I have is, can you run a 200-watt PV Bluetti panel with this unit? I can only find reliable info about running a SP with it. I run the PV200-WATT panels, so I'll definitely pull the trigger this week and purchase the unit if compatible. I'm also curious about your thoughts on running a 12-volt fridge off this 70S model. What's your runtime experience been like? I feel it could run 72 hours, maybe more? Having this smaller unit and only 1 PV200 panel would be a dream in my truck set up. Charging specs say 3-4 hours, so also a great bonus. I'm assuming you can charge and use the unit at the same time like the AC200P? Thanks for the great video. 👍 subbed.
@MotorsportUnplugged
@MotorsportUnplugged 2 года назад
Yes you can charge and use simultaneously, no issues there. Our 12V Dometic CFX28 draws so little power compared to the EB70S that it just gets boring trying to measure its lifespan at that load :-P. Something like 3-4 days sounds about right, more/less depending on the ambient temps.

@MotorSport UnPlugged I just received my EB70S this morning. You weren't exaggerating how loud the AC charging is. Considering my AC200P doesn't make a peep, I find this very strange. As usual, the manual is very lacking. Can you tell me from your experience when not to run in eco mode? Also, does the unit draw power when not in use? I was under the impression there was a power on/off switch, but apparently, you click a button for the display and then again for usage. I would also like to know if you have to switch the unit into a specific mode when charging from solar or DC? On my AC200P I have to change the settings to PV for the unit to take in solar. Thanks!

Eco mode simply turns off the AC portion of the electronics if it sees no load for 4 hours. This is because keeping the AC inverter active, even with no load, takes not an insignificant power. You would only need to disable this if you had some sort of odd highly intermittent AC demand that you wanted to feed with your EB70S.
