How I built the bed platform in the Ford 150 Passenger wagon. We use it for camping and it's my daily driver. This is the first project in this series of building a campervan in a Ford Transit. Fully reversible to a regular people hauler.
Best camping mattress ever ! (Amazon affiliate link, I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you) Thanks for supporting this channel !

Almost exactly what I have in mind, except I am cheap so I will use yellow top boxes.

I love your videos, I would to have a better photo of you seat storage platform or directions for your seat storage dolly, I would like to build one for my seats as I use my van as you, sometimes the seats are in and sometimes they are not, when in camping mode. I have 9 seats to take out and store

It's basically like a moving dolly. Square frame with u- bolts to hook seat base to, and casters to wheel it around.

Hey Barry! Nice! We had these huge steel plates that weren’t flat or flush with the floor, they stuck up from the floor about 2 inches and was about 12” in length and about 5” wide... which were a real pain in the ass til we finally went to AutoZone and the dude behind the counter hooked us up by removing them with the heavy duty star wrench... now it’s finally flat! We covered it with a throw rug and VIOLA! I dig your mods! We did hinges as well and put in a house sized queen mattress, still have room for a kitchen too💜 I can’t wait to see the finish

I’m 5’5 could I stand up in this?

No, low roof is too low to stand. Medium or high roof would work.

with the second row seats in, how much space is there behind the second row for sleeping north-south? I'm interested in building one of these (camper / daily driver), but would be camping with a family of 4, interested to know if a 6' tall person can lie down comfortably behind the second row. Great videos, nice to see what the air ducts and side curtain airbags look like behind the interior paneling.

67" between pillars, 82" behind seat to rear door

A bit wider without plastic trim inside ( or window to window)

@@barrysoutthere thanks for the quick reply! totally enough for a tall person behind the second row.

Thanks for this video (and your other great videos)! We're doing something similar with a Transit Wagon for our family. What thickness plywood did you use for the bed platform?
@barrysoutthere

1/2" sanded ( both sides). Thanks !

@@barrysoutthere Awesome, thanks. Debating 1/2 vs 3/4. Really wanted to go 1/2" for the weight savings, but was a little concerned about it being strong enough. Think I'm leaning towards 1/2".
@barrysoutthere
@barrysoutthere 3 года назад
@@CrowBrosRacing it's strong enough to lift for access with bedding in place, if supported in the center ( or both sides). 3/4 would be great, but overkill ( and heavy ). Cheers !

Why did you decide to go to a van from your Jeep and trailer set-up? Curious as my husband and I are preparing to begin traveling next year. We are studying ways to do it for travel a month at a time. Did you ever look at Jeeps with the Ursa Minor pop-up tent?

Considered roof top tents too. Fitting in one parking space is nice for city stops. Rain (or snow) was a big factor in going to a van as well. As much as we love bear country, tenting is a bit 'exposed'. The van has been great, and it's my daily driver.
