Thanks Laurie, love your vids. I really enjoy northern NM in the summer specially around Taos, lots of free BLM camping, great temperatures, hiking, and the beauty of Colorado without the crowds and cost. I also buy food that is expiring--score! Safe travels...
What an awesome video, Laurie!! I too am an early riser and like to do early shopping. By shopping early, get there before the store gets crowded and get some early shopping deals. You are a very smart lady and you know what works and how it works. You are a Warrior!! Happy & Safe journey.
Great video Laurie! I especially liked your comments about going early to the grocery stores for the newly discounted food. I'm going to try that since I'm an early riser too.
Start researching camper vans early! I looked for almost a year before I found Ruby. Then, when you're ready to buy, you have a solid idea of how much camper vans cost, what's available, etc.
Great video! I found you because we are researching the Tofino. What is the coldest temperature that you ever slept in? How much propane did you use? I live in Calgary and we would want to use it for year round camping.
Hi Amy, thanks for the great questions! You'll be disappointed by most of my answers, though. The coldest temp I ever slept in was -20, and I didn't use much propane because as a 50 year old woman I was getting lots of hot flashes - especially at night. I like sleeping in the cold, all snuggled up under blankets. I also had good window coverings in addition to the shades that come with the Tofino. Have you visited the Tofino Facebook group? It's a fantastic place to get information. facebook.com/groups/2401739613447058 One of our members - Angela - uses her van almost year-round. She's been in Jasper Alberta in -40 temperatures, and would be a great resource for your winter camping questions. By the way, I'll be selling Ruby in May 2024. She's in storage in Vancouver BC this winter; in April I want to replace the windshield and have her engine looked at. I haven't had a single problem with her since I bought her in 2021, but want to make sure she's in tip top shape when I sell her 🙂 If you're interested in coming out for a test drive, keep in touch with me! And I'll definitely advertise her on our Tofino Facebook group.
Thank you for your response. I have requested to be a member on the Tofino FB page but they haven't accepted my request yet. It's been a week I believe. Are you able to ask on the page if they are looking at the requests? Maybe I didn't answer the questions well enough😃
