That screen shelter you bought was a must need item there. I was actually laughing at a prior video of you outside trying to talk to us on the camera and kept swatting the flys away. That screen shelter will make relaxing outside way better.
Wow! This video has everything…scenery=gorgeous, adventure=river rapids & fishing, food=steaks too delicious, trout fishing, Shelter=Clam bug & deerfly free. Well presented & flow of video content perfect.👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Loved the floating. I could even feel the splash! I’m happy you caught some trout later. Enjoy the bug shelter and hope you feel better soon. Try not to overdo it on those hot days✌🏼
Brilliant decision to get that screen room. It's tiny but will work for you and perhaps one guest and that will be life changing. We have a couple of biting flies that have chewed my arms and legs up as I work outside. The bummer is that when you get into the shade, they become the most aggressive - luckily their season is about done. I'm loving your backyard. If you're going to stay in a place all summer, you surely chose a gorgeous one. I had a coach at the gym who would randomly shout "Hydrate" and we'd all chug. Out doors in the heat though, I tend to sip, hold it in my mouth a couple of seconds before swallowing. Seems to hit that dryness better that way.
Wow, Brian I guess the fly's got to you, Great idea. I know when I was there they just didn't stop. Thanks for your hospitality and the your hard work show at they great place. Hope to make it back, take care. Venture on.
Loved seeing you again and hearing about your new life 💞. This has to be so much better than the sugar beet harvest 😅. Talk about a glorious place to work. I'm sorry things didn't work out with Kelly but I know in my ❤ you guys will always remain friends and maybe someday??? Or not... I just want you to be happy. Blessings to you from Pennsylvania ❤
Hello Brian and hello to Todd. Great to see him again. Glad you two were able to get together and have some fun. Loved that wave splashing over the bow. Deer flies are bad here too. Them suckers hurt when they bite. Glad you got the clam.
Hey Dan! You couldn't hear it but I was laughing SO hard. He took that wave full on. His is a bucket boat instead of a self-bailing. Knew he was gonna be soaked. You in Texas? Staying cool?
Those flies do not play! I’m the guy who showed up in the first gen Tacoma with the pop up topper, completely unprepared. Long pants and sleeves protected me, thank goodness. It was a pleasure to meet you. They say, “Don’t meet your heroes,” but I’m glad to confirm you’re the same nice (and helpful) guy in real life.
That’s so cool you got to meet Brian in person! I was Blessed to meet him briefly at the RTR a few years ago and able to thank him for all the years of videos that got me through while taking care of my Dad with dementia. He’s most definitely as kind, gracious, and humble in person. Enjoy Colorado! ✌️
You can spray the netting with permethrin spray and it keeps the bugs away both inside and out. Also, you can use permethrin spray on your head Net so that the flies don’t buzz around your head at all. Beautiful float!
I have a good quality knock off Clam, the same size as yours, it’s a game changer in the super “buggy” areas. I enjoyed y’alls paddle trip so much, so amazingly beautiful there. ✌️💖
If you are in heavy wind, you'll need to stake down every section with heavy duty stakes. I've used dog twist stakes. Withstood all summer in Arkansas until an October straight line wind storm came through. Only the one side came loose. Heavy rain caved in the top. If you get water, tip it over and empty first before you try to take it fully down. Nice adventure.
What a beautiful back drop for setting in the Clam and talking. The trout were beauties. It seemed so nice to hear you laughing going through the rapids! Enjoy
Great video, Brian! Thanks for putting it together-I almost felt like I was there (minus the deer flies!). I love seeing the world through your eyes and adventures-beautiful river, camaraderie, kayaking, fishing, cooking, and of course, the Clam! All my favorites. Those deer flies are relentless this year all over the West. All the best!
I got a medium weight 6x8 blue and silver tarp and attached it silver side up with ball bungees anchoring it to the corner loops on the clam and it blocks so much sun and heat. You get a much cooler place to be.
Fun time!. Beautiful area!.felt like I was watching myself pertaining to the clam, bug zapper, fly situation. Love them both! Makes bugs, rain and sun more enjoyed in camp for sure!✌️🪰🏞🚚🌞👍
We have owned numerous clam quicksets. They are well worth the price! We have the one with the zippered sides! We use a large tarp for the floor. Bought our first at a Casita rally in quartzite back in 2013!
Thanks so much for the beautiful day you had off from your camp host job in Colorado. I have lived here in Colorado for many years and have never been to that beautiful area. Colorado has many wonderful and beautiful areas to explore. My husband and I have explored Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park areas several times a year. Thanks for sharing your adventures. ❤
OMG those deer flies are even worse than mosquitos! They hurt and I'm so allergic to them. Glad you got the screen room. I bought the same size for my 4 month trip to Canada last year and never used it. I felt very lucky to never have the mosquito problems I had expected. Nice to see a fun off day! Enjoy Brian!
Very beautiful out on the CO river and the set up to keep the flies out is awesome, good deal on that. I hope you feel much better this next week. I've been battling anemia and palpitations and I get altitude sickness out in CO too. I can relate.
Hey Brian- love the new "bug free" zone! Also, remember your electrolytes when hydrating, especially in the heat as you acclimate to your new location...be well!😌
Oof. Careful with that hydration. You can totally knock yourself out. I experienced that with kayak fishing a few weeks ago. That bug tent looks like a great investment. Thanks for sharing.
Weird Al Yankovich could have done a biting parody of John Denver's Rocky Mountain High and called it Rocky Mountain Fly, lol. Beautiful, relaxing video. Very nice. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Brian, what a life you have going on for yourself to share with us. The river view with the trains was awesome. The fishing was a bonus! Great views!!
Seen on my Laptop Beautiful Views🙌🤲😎 Colorado be Pretty Awesome🤩😍 That Boat Ride Trip, Living the Dream Y' all are👏👏 Cool Clam tent to keep deer Flys out💪💪 Cool Job, Camp Host👏👏💯 Happy Trails🌄🌲🚐 Safe Travels🙏✝️🕊
Hi Brian! This is Robin, I met you at the very first caravan hang out. I've been following you in all of your adventures and I'm so glad you are still out there doing what you love! I have the gazelle version of the clam shelter that you have. As you mentioned, it can get a little warm inside and the Ryobi battery operated fan works wonders!
Rad River run in the kayaks, thats always a good time. Glad to see you found a way to be outside and escape the bugs👍👍Kool. Happy summer Brian🙏🙏be Blessed
Gorgeous, gorgeous views!!! I've had my 6' x 6' clam since 2018. I love it. I also have the 3 side walls. Love them too. I don't think you'll regret having it! So glad you are enjoying your summer camp!
I personally have benefitted from information that you've shared with us over the years. Really looking forward on the feedback from your research on camp hosting jobs. Always grateful for that, the cooking tips, and ethical camping conversations. Many thanks and best wishes.
Great area Brian. It’s beautiful up that way. Thanks for sharing. I always look forward to your videos and glad you’re feeling better. As always thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the train footage! 😊 I’m camp hosting for the first time too - in WA. It’s a mixed bag and I’m not gonna last the whole season. But I got enough material for a book out of it!
I have that exact same one Brian and it is awesome. Best way to set it up is put. The 4 square sides grammates in the ground. First, then just walk around, pop the one closest to the door first. Go around and then go inside once it's up and pop the top-up. That's the best way to put it up and take it down. And it doesn't walk on you😮 To close it up you pop the sides in first then pop the top down and it will fold in 3rds. Just fold the wings in and play it in the bag with the four feet pointing towards the Smallest square of the case. They are different on both sides one is wider. Fat will accommodate the top and all the fabric.
Sweet that you put the fish back thank you ya the net hat is do. the same love your little tent no bugs great looked like fun in the kaya your a good guy be safe love your channel ❤❤❤❤
Great to have a place hide from the bugs. Awesome site like I've said before Brian, a great place to chill out, if it wasn't for the (approximately) 7k miles, I'd join you with a fine bottle of malt whisky for a chill out session🥃🥃
I checked into camp hosting but realized I am not set up yet to endure bugs / heat and large enough water supply for my dog & I. Sure would make purchasing these items easier & much faster. Thank you Brian, we can always count on your honesty. That looked like great fun kayaking through the little rapids 🤗❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾
Remember in Marana Az, Carol, from Canada had a big Clam? She played her flutes during a chakra alignment for about 5 of us. I guess they didn't mention the deer flies in the camp host description 😮.
LOL ... NO, They NEVER mention Insect or rodent issues ..... As it was, They had others "quit" the host positions already, for those reasons I am sure .... Thankfully, Brian got a damn GOOD, (and fairly cheap), solution To the Deer Flies 😎👌👍👍
Living the dream dude, living the dream. At 62 and approaching retirement, I am at the point where I have to deal with "old dude" sh*t. Can I set up alone, can I get up off the ground if I forget my cot, can I get out of here if needed for medical care, do I have cell service or GPS emergency help etc.? All these things that I used to laugh about, and sometimes ridiculed, are much more real to me now. Still going to give it a go with realistic expectations. Pay for Starlink, camp near a ranger station with cell coverage and use pay camps or Hotels with laundry facilities, showers and toilets. I am a very social person who makes friends easily, so some random KOA or Hotel for a few days to wash my nasty @ss and do laundry won't bother me for a few days after boondocking for a bit. Will most likely just meet new friends and have a good time. You have nailed it brother. You figured out this go your own way shizzy long before it had a media name/label. I just call it being independent and refuse to accept the media labels. Be well Brother.
