My name is Brian. In 2014 I moved into a self converted camper van. A year later I hit the road to pursue seasonal work around the U.S. and enjoy as much time camping in nature along the way. I am currently in a 2010 GMC 10 foot box van that I build as a camper. Join me on my adventures!
Great job on the campsites, looks like a nice place to park host for the summer. 👍👍 I bet you’ll get a bunch of your YT follower friends staying at your nice campground now. I subscribed to see more campground adventures…
I learned something good here. I've thought of maybe doing campground host, and this gave some realistic advice. I wouldn't have the stamina to mow 4 sites at 8000 feet. Thanks Brian.
Any host jobs where you have all the duties you mentioned but without the bathroom cleaning? Unfortunately, cleaning up others people's poop is a no go for me. Everything else is totally fine.
We’re camping in north central Colorado right now too. However, your campground isn’t on our route. I’m sure our paths will cross one day. Be well and take care.
I'm headed to CO for 10 days in mid august. May have to pop by and stay for a couple nights. Looks like a nice place and I love that it's not all crowded.
Wow. They are sooo very lucky to have you and your skills. And I see the satisfaction you are having in doing a job not only well but helping to solve real problems, like the locks. Seriously, this seems a perfect situation for both you and the management company. 🌞
What is a bear box 😮 being an urban boondocker, I’ve never heard of a Bear box 😮 I’m guessing they don’t have a Starbucks close by 😆 I can’t be a vagabond mango without a Starbucks …
It’s interesting they are charging for a site with no water. In past times no one would be charged if there was no access to water. Good luck with the campers.
I’ve been with my partner for 40+ years. The reason we are still together is because we don’t live together. I need a ton of alone time. She is much more social. It works for us but if I tried to live in her world, it wouldn’t work. We all have to do what works for us. Thanks for the video.
I knew you were going to say that it was satisfying being able to visually see a difference that your hard work makes. The overgrowth was the perfect amount. What are the brown boxes that are part of the sites?
one it helps if your younger and in great health, and being able to handle yourself in a very remote area, most times you are alone, so you need some know how about nature and people. you seem to have that. good luck with your adventure, hope to see more of your videos.
Got it made dude, nice job. I am a groundskeeper at a dam and campground in Tennessee. I still commute everyday but would not rather be doing anything else, love it and maybe someday I’ll try for a camp host job myself!👍
Beautiful campsite! Looks like you're perfectly suited for the camp host job. I have the exact same DR wheeled trimmer - awesome for tall grass but can be a bit of a beast on slopes. Not as smooth a cut as a regular mower. I always carry needle nose pliers to swap out the string - kind of a pain - but mine is running strong after a dozen years. Outside of occasional oil changes, I had to replace the drive belt once. Other than that, bullet proof. Enjoy your summer!
All Camp Hosts I’ve met love to gab. As a camper, that’s great for me. Hosts are especially helpful with information. The greatest variability I’ve seen is in the job of cleaning the pit toilets. Some hosts neglect them. Some hosts keep them sparkling clean. I admire anyone who can do this part of the job!
Well, someone just won the lottery with you, Brian! In all your summer jobs, clearly this is what the doctor ordered, right at the perfect time for you. I couldn't be happier for you ... just as satisfying to you doing all the work, it was just as satisfying watching you and seeing the end results! It's going to be fun seeing this campground the day you arrived compared to the day you leave, especially with some drone footage. These are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and peaceful campgrounds. ♡ (This reminded me of RU-vidr S & B Mowing. He's awesome to watch, too)
I spent a summer as a camp host in a similar situation to yours, also in Colorado. People who take these jobs as quick easy cash are missing the point. Yes there is a salary, but there is also the site fee that is waived. Depending on the site, $15 to $35 per night is also part of your wage. And you don't have to start at 8 a.m., or work straight through to 5 p.m. Take a break in the middle of the day and have lunch down by the river. No commute, fresh air, wild life, it's the best way of life there is!!!!
