WOW! We are totally honored to find this video with mentions of two of our apps - Coverage? and US Public Lands. We created both to solve problems in our own RV travels, and so delighted when they help others ! Quick tip.. in US Public Lands you can turn on a satellite background view, which helps scout out those roads and spots where you might find where others have boondocked before. Thanks again - Cherie & Chris
This is the reason Robin is the darling of the nomadic community. She's positive and educational. If you're wanting to start a nomadic lifestyle, just subscribe here. So much valuable information. I've read most of her book. Buy it! You'll not regret it.
My Son's Mother could not agree more! I have spent so much time watching Robin’s videos and reading her book, I am still not ready to get back on the road. Haha
I appreciate that you talk about a normal pace and don't repeat yourself constantly like we are children or dummies. Most other videos I have to speed up just to get the content that I want. With you, I take you as you are...nothing need change. Thank you!
Hi Robin, This is my first comment and I'm in the process of searching for an RV. I always look forward to your videos. I live in Colorado Springs, but I did go to high school near White Sands and over the years, White Sands has been a favorite place for my kids and me to visit when they were young. I noticed in your video that you mistakenly targeted the White Sands Missile Range area. This is a secured research area. The area you want to visit is the White Sands National Monument which is where all of beautiful sand dunes are and is several miles east of the missile range. There is no overnight camping in the monument grounds because people can get lost in the dunes, but it is a great place to watch the sunset. Everyone is expected to leave the park shortly after sunset. The camping would be outside of the park and there are mountains to the east and west of the White Sands Monument.
Love your channel. I'm a single senior woman who has always dreamed of traveling via RV to see the USA. You're a great inspiration. Keep up the great job & God bless you.
Hi Robin! Our family did a full month of tent camping this summer in New Mexico! It was great We spent a week in White Sands and Alamodordo! We stumbled upon Oliver Lee State park! LOVE LOVE LOVE! We did tent camping for $7 per night. The site had water, and a clean restroom right across from us. The hiking trails through the mountain pass was breathtaking! They have RV sites for$10 (i think). White Sands WAS great!! Take LOTS and LOTS of water and good sunglasses! I can't wait to see your video!
Hi Robin, I was just reading Rova magazine a RV lifestyle magazine. A new app was just launched it's Vanlife. Helps you find safe campsites washrooms, showers. Also events, gatherings and connect you to fellow travellers . Love your videos, keep up the good work.
This is brilliant! Another win for Robin! I am sharing this video on as many RV groups that I belong to on Facebook! Thank you for all your hard work. I hope it is paying-off for you. :-)
OMG Robin, this is THE BEST FREAKING VIDEO! BEYOND helpful! It would have taken me years, if ever, to find and be able to use these links. Award-winning, my girl....you are a RV ROCK STAR! 😎💕
Re: HH, you can feel free to use most golf locations, whether you golf or not, if they have dining and drinking and shopping options, you will be welcome!
Thank you Robin for sharing your info with the rest of us. You are truly generous of spirit!! I'm 3 months away from 70 and am preparing to get my wheels on. YT vids, including yours, have been my classroom. If our paths cross in the near future, I'll make sure to say hello. xox Brenda
Amazing all the information that I didn't even think to ask for you have pointed out for us thank you so very much I'm glad that Bob Wells had you give him a hand on narrating so that I could find you. Safe travels to you
Has anyone told you lately that your the bees knees. 🤣🤣you rock thanks for ALL your helpful information. Your just making it soooooo easy for us who are getting ready. 💗💗
I would add GasBuddy to determine the cheapest gas prices for a given location, as well as allowing you to see if it would be cheaper to buy now or later. The discount is also nice. Also, you want to have a GPS locator so you can tell police and friends your exact location.
Another great app for gas is Get Upside. You get cashback for participating gas stations. I use this as a rideshare driver. Plus you get $ for referring friends and family. I'd put in my referral code, but I don't think Robin would be happy about that. I want to be respectful.
This was back in the '90s, but we decided to take a little jaunt over to White Sands after visiting Carlsbad Caverns (another really cool place to see). White Sands was amazing! The "sand" isn't silicone dioxide like the usual sand, it's made from gypsum, which is actually cool in the sunlight. We were walking barefoot in the dunes when it was 104°F in the shade. Cool and comfy to the feet. Definitely a place worth visiting. Thank you for so much information. All very useful and appreciated.
EGADS!!! WOMAN! You are an ABSOLUTE GOD SEND! This Rv Parky app is AMAZING! This is the first app that actually shows LOW CLEARANCE. I take my rig primarily on back roads and any map that gives a heads up on low bridges is great. Having all my usual free spots in one app is great. You rock!!
FYI: Technically what you're creating for those websites is a "Bookmark Icon", not an "app". (Creating an app is a whole other ball of wax). When you select "Add to Home Screen" you've simply saved the bookmark on your phone's 'Home Screen', rather than in the menu bar of your browser. For iPhone users you'll find that option by hitting the "Share" icon at the bottom of your (Safari) browser page. It looks like a little square with an arrow shooting out of the top. "Add to Home Screen" will be one of the options you'll find there. Great info and presentation Robin! Thanks!
Yea White Sands is Awesome. The gypsum sticks to everything really tap your shoes off before you enter your rig. It sticks to everything! You can rent sleds to slide down. Enjoy!
Robin you are amazing, This is hands down the most helpful video I've ever watched. Thank you so much for not only inspiring me in my future nomad life and also showing me HOW to do it.
For anyone trying to add the shortcuts on an iPhone, you will need to go to the website via Safari or another web browser - simply clicking on the link from Robin’s (as usual) awesome video won’t work. You will get to that site, but the “Add to Home Screen” button will be missing. You can still use her link, but then copy and paste that into a browser or “copy and go”. From there, you’ll be able to save it via the share button, then save to home screen. Hope this helps other iPad or iPhone users out. Thanks Robin, I have added to my arsenal of tools!
I live 6 miles away from White Sands in Alamogordo. I’ve lived in Alamogordo a long time, and been to White Sands many times and never get tired of it. It’s absolutely wonderful. I’ve never camped there, I know some parts are protected and you can’t drive on some parts but can walk. But you can drive pretty far back and enjoy the dunes and there are picnic areas, tours, you can sled down the dunes. If you go please post pictures or video. It would be really neat to meet you and learn about the lifestyle
Hands down, this is one of your best videos ever. Certainly in my top three! The wealth of information given and your insights are invaluable. Thank you so much!
I loved it when you showed the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. I think it was the 2nd national park and a true treasure many know little about. It is in southcentral Oklahoma, between Dallas, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chickasaw National Recreation Area was originally authorized in 1902 as Sulphur Springs Reservation and was renamed and redesignated as Platt National Park in 1906. In 1976, Platt National Park, Arbuckle National Recreation Area, and additional lands were combined to establish Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
As a future solo traveler, this will give me the information I need to safely go where this chick has never gone before! I’ve saved the information in its own special folder-can’t wait to hit the road !
Robin, you would love White Sands National Monument. There is great camping at Aguirre Springs ( a BLM campground), the sunrises to the east are awesome. I taught at the missile range for 14 years at the base of the mountains. North of the area is camping at Three rivers and the Valley of the Fires State Park is unique. You also need to camp at City of the Rocks State Park north of Deming, NM. It is also very unique.
I haven't read through all the comments so someone may have already mentioned this. When I was planning my first trip with my friend, we thoroughly enjoyed using RV Trip Wizard. There is a yearly fee but it was worth it. Filling out your rig's information (length, MPG, fuel tank size, etc) it will actually make calculations for you. It will also plan your route, as well as show the bridge heights along the route. It gives you the mileage between locations and the approximate time to get there. It will also show you camping locations where you are going, be that state parks, KOAs, Good Sam, private campgrounds, etc. Again, I really enjoyed using RV Trip Wizard. I just wish my friend didn't abandon me 3 days into a 7 week trip.
Great go-to list of Apps/web sites. We love Harvest Hosts! I also plan out small trips with RV Parky - so handy! There are several there that I was not aware of and will add them to my RV File on my Home Screen. Thank you so much, Robin!!
Okay, this is fantastic! Did not have Google Earth on my iPad, so I downloaded this and am totally blown away with this app. Thank you for sharing your clever tips and apps...brilliant!!!🧚♀️🍷👩🏻🚀
Hi Robin, you are amazing. Thank you for sharing all these apps with us. I can’t wait to come to the USA again and do some RV adventures 😁 ❤️ from Thailand 🇹🇭
So informative, as always!! Thanks, Robin! When you did a walk through of the trucker app you should have plugged your video on truck stop etiquette for those that haven't seen it🙂 It was such a well informed video. incredibly helpful, and I know the trucker's appreciated you going over the do's and don't's!
White sands is on my radar as my folks drove out to CA for the wedding of their flower girl. Mom brought home white sand and it sat on our tv, for yrs. So I have always wanted to go. Plus Route 66. Good info again thanks for all you do.
Highly recommend Route 66. We've only traveled from Texas going west & even taken the old now unpaved unimproved portions. Challenging but great fun. We need to travel points going east next.
@@janeforever thank you. I wanted to do it when I was 66 but health issues held me back. I'll be 69, ouch in Oct. So still planning to go. From WA now to CA then continue on.
Yet another FANTASTIC video Robin!! I love how you share all your knowledge with everyone!! I actually might be able to get out camping by my birthday in February! I want to grow up and be just like you! Thanks again for your endless encouragement!!😍💋
Dear Robin, I love your videos, your work, and the WAY that you present the information. Thank you for your generosity to share what you learn. Much Gratitude !!!
Thank you soooo much. My husband and I are going to take gf for 6 months and do not want to “plan” our stays a lot ahead of time. Your apps will help. My daughter bought us Harvest Hosts and we can’t wait to use it.
Added a couple of the apps to my phone..so exciting... You are my boondocking Guru and I love learning from you before our big adventure. TFS Be safe..travel well
Wow Robin....thnx for this primo information I appreciate your expertise and effort to help us out. We may be too old to ever put it to use but you never know. Great job girl 😄
Ok so everyone is complimenting you on the content, but I have to say, Robin, you look fabulous today! I saw the video of your older RV by Bob Wells, and you are so much better looking now! You also have an easier manner now. The confidence really shows through as well. Just saying ....
I've been to White Sands and it is amazing. However, I was not able to enjoy it like the rest of my family since I was the only one without sunglasses. You need some serious sunglasses if the sun is shining. I was immediately blinded by the intense white light and had to wait in the car with tinted windows while every one else got to hike the dunes.
SUPER helpful, thank you so much. White sands is a definite must for anyone's bucket list but I'd do it in the late late fall unless you like extreme heat, I lived not too far from there in NM
THANK YOU!!! 😘🤗 Perfect information before we set off tomorrow woohoo 🙌 I was watching that lightening storm last night from Vancouver Island - pretty spectacular. We couldn't hear the thunder and we didn't get any rain 👍
