Two things are possible at once. He could have been a camper AND a creepy dude, who was up to no good, as you said. Bravo for protecting yourself and your assets. You don’t have to be “a goody goody, well behaved, nice girl” toward people who are not your family or trusted friends.
I'm an older female that travels alone so I'm not going to bash you... I have let my guard down too so don't beat yourself up... thanks for sharing... lets me know I'm not alone!!!!
Get you a NRA sticker and put it next to the door of the camper. Next get a sign/ sticker stating I respond to ALL uninvited persons with ARMED response. Also I had a trained dog that didn’t bark or get aggressive for anything and I mean anything UNLESS I gave him my hand signal. ( when he was with me ) Of course video cameras with stickers stating that you have cameras. Oh he would be on my property chasing deer, rabbits, a road runner, etc and barks his happy self off . Thanks
You don't need to be beat up, especially by yourself.. Hey, hidden in all fortune is good fortune. It has you thinking about these situations. Nothing wrong with that. I am familiar with your type of lifestyle also. I kind of miss it. One thing I learned is to be ready to pull out of any situation as easy & as quick as possible. Just go somewhere else if you feel the least bit uncomfortable. It's true that there are plenty of troublemakers in these kinds of places, for various reasons you already know. I've dealt with a few myself and in looking back, exiting the situation quietly was the best things I could have done. Engaging with bad people only spells trouble. Just my 2 cents worth. Smart to bring up the talk about the subject. We all might learn something.. TY & GL.
Even though probably is more risky for women I think is easier in a way, I'd stop in a bit to help any of these ladies, but I don't think will be easier for me to get help no trying to be mean is just lif facts.
Trying to figure out why you set the knife down ?! But in the same breath being paranoid and living scared all the time is no life . Common sense says just carry the knife that's in your hand with you and a smile .
I had the last year VW Eurovan “multivan” with the pop top. It did not have kitchen but just the big open area and table and facing seats. Brilliant I took that camping many places and had all my supplies tucked neatly in the back floor. Then can take side trips or into town during the day, so yes that was like 30 years ago. Camper vans have been great for a while, and these new concepts are awesome and functional!
I have been on the road for 7 years, but as a Semi driver for Pride Transport and LOVE it! Consider getting your CDL. It is safer, fun, and the pay is just the icing on the cake.
You should see if there is a security screen for your camper. A regular screen can be slit very easily with a knife. A security screen is made from metalens has a deadbolt and locking doorknob. I have one on both my doors. It has kept me safe without worrying about someone getting through it. I have even slept with my door open and just the screen locked up. It is so worth the cost for the peace of mind it brings.
Have you tried a door mat alarm in front of your door? Or a vibration door alarm? I'm wondering if those are worth it. Why didn't he ask the two neighbors who were watching? Always trust your gut whether camping or in the city. Crap happens everywhere.
I would always keep the car connected and also have bear spray next to the door.Ive been rving in a class C i would not have talked to him..started the rv and take off
Well, there is the 3rd campground just outside Pheonix(major city) I will stay away from. I am a combat infantry vet and a small town in the midwest guy. I have worked in major cities most of my adult life and never camp within 30 miles of a big city. I did though outside Pheonix once…bad idea. Wont go back. There was a body or bodies found last year or the first of the years SW of Pheonix on blm land. I guess our lessons lead to wisdom. I guess Im glad Im a single Alpha male though…🤷🏽♂️🥴😂 Sad thing is, even men go through some shady shit too. I have had shady women come around too…I think I would rather go back to dealing with Grizzlies in Montana and get charged by Mountain Lynx again than deal with these crazies in the SW..😂😂
When you said you should have had a gun, I think you shouldn't have said that people will think that you are not armed. I'm a concealed carrier. I carry everywhere I go. I don't leave home without it. I always have one near me,🙏🏻😊
Glad he didn’t just come in. Nice to know the tent couple were watching out for you. Please get a lock on the door and not easy to cut through the screen. Be safe!
Keep a g-u-n on you at all times. Buy door alarms at Lowes and installed them on your door and windows (for night time). Leave a pair of big male boots outside your camper. Get a big dog. Don't camp in very isolated places. Also; I would have reported the encounter to the police at the nearest station, you never know, he might have been a wanted person but even if he wasn't he would be in the police viewfinder from that moment on.
Do t feel bad. I once trusted someone merry because he mentioned My brother by name. I think I was ten....he started to convince me to walk with him..then he tried to rape me- luckily - my Mother was timing my walk and gathered 2 siblings to go find me. They got there just with a minute to spare. I NEVER trust any one since... to a degree. Better safe..then sorry.
Creeper Camper's are a small issue, until one creeps you out. Be vigilant, aware of one's surroundings & don't let others ruin your space and contentment.
Darlin’ , if you want stress removed, trade in the RV on a new Touring Motorcycle 😮… Hooking up to go is planting your feet on the ground, gripping your handle bars and fire that “mutha” up and let it rumble a bit, then stand it upright, depressed clutch lever, drop it into gear,,, time to roll! Born to be wild!!
nope, you were not an Ahole. He was Way out of line, even if he was a camper, it’s on him to know where to go and as a man (and long time camper), I would Never approach a woman that way!
Come spend a day in the hood. Find out what time it is for many Americans. Lily white culture does not have a clue. It's not a color thing, yet it is a naive thing. Watch your six. 10,000,000 + illegals and many natives hate you.
