Welcome to Section 5 of the Wyoming BDR Part 1 of 2
David and Holly along with Craig from Hatchet Overland continue their journey down the BDR traveling through Section 5. We make it to Sinks Canyon where we see the underground river then travel on to the top of the mountain where we branch off and go to Fry Lake and camp at around 9000 ft. We enjoy a great time there then continue our journey down the mountain toward South Pass City where we will pick up in part 2 of this journey in the next episode.
Travel dates: August 16-17, 2022

Thank you !! You wont be disappointed.. But also dont feel like you are missing stuff if you skip some here and there. in Jeeps it just makes sense to to be honest.. This route was planned for bikes that are hauling at 45mph... Whole lot different when you are creeping along at 15-20 lol..

That part that you skipped on section 5 was the best part of it. There was some great views and things like that you wasted your time doing section 5 if all you did was the upper part and not the lower part because the lower part was the best.

Oh man - I've been using Starlink for a few months now and I'll take the extra time in the backcountry! I turn it off when I'm not working or needing to look something up. And of course there is the pre-bedtime Netflix 🤪. Otherwise it is off but ready if we need it!

David, curious, what ended up being the draw on the Jackery from the Starlink? Was it significant? Loved the fish tacos....those are a staple in our house! Another great episode.
@aMAYSingLife
@aMAYSingLife Год назад
Crap I meant to add that in titling. I’ll do that in another episode. It pulls about 46w avg which isn’t a ton but considering it’s constant it’s more than my jackery 1000 can do given how I charge it. I have ideas on how to solve that and I have already implemented part of that by adding another solar panel. But I also need a larger power station. I’m thinking the bluetti 2000w might do it. It allows simultaneous charging from both solar, and DC at the same time which means while driving down the road the alternator and solar could be charging it, which might solve my issue. I would rather keep with portable power solutions versus onboard power, partly due to the complexity, required for full-time power, but also losing the benefit of removing it, and using it elsewhere.
@castle228
@castle228 Год назад
@@aMAYSingLife good to know! The Bluetti with the solar & DC charging capability sound like a very viable solution. Keep us posted if you go thru with that.

👍👍👍👍👍, That awning was a neat setup, I have a 2dr so not sure if they have one for it. What company puts it out if you don't mind.
@aMAYSingLife
@aMAYSingLife Год назад
That awning is made by Hatchet Overland and is integrated into the camper top. They have a keder rail that is underneath the tent where you can just slide it into place then all you need to do is stake down the two poles and 2 side flaps. Depending on how the needs are you can put the poles in the middle section which allows for sun protection from different angles. The one I'm using there is a prototype which from use I have recommended changes to support better rain protection (no pooling) so now they are making changes to implement that. I love that it can fit into a tiny sack and doesn't take up room outside causing noise / MPG drop etc.

How much lift and tire sire do you have on your Jeep.
@aMAYSingLife
@aMAYSingLife Год назад
I have a 2.5" AEV lift and running Toyo Open Country AT 3 - 285/75R17 (33.5") tires.. Love this level lift and keeps MPG good.. The AEV came with geometry leveling as well as the speedometer tuner so it literally drives better than it did factory.
