Life is worth living. And to us discovering the unknown or trying new things is how we feel the most alive. We dropped suburbia to live on a mountain in a close to off the grid scenario. Well, let's just say gridless-ish.. By doing so we reduced our expenses while increasing our income and as a result we have a lot more flexibility in how we spend our time.
This year we intend to spend it traveling to beautiful areas throughout the country and sharing those experiences with you. Adventure by Motorcycle or Jeep including overlanding trips, camping excursions, and equipment reviews will all be included throughout this year. Join us for our ongoing adventure of our aMAYSing Life. #AvantLink
Thank you so much! I hope to do more in the future. I got tied up doing professional shoots around the country and have not been able to shoot the adventure videos lately.
That part that you skipped on section 5 was the best part of it. There was some great views and things like that you wasted your time doing section 5 if all you did was the upper part and not the lower part because the lower part was the best.
Yes the oem too had a hole in the top in the rear of the jeep that allows for entry through that hole into the camper. They went out of business so unfortunately mine and about 20 others are all that are out there.. still works perfectly with no leaks etc..
@@aMAYSingLife I was considering buying this but use a soft top and was worried, so definitely looking forward to this and will probably buy one the moment you finalize and release the locking solution :)!
We ran it in August it seemed to be ideal timing.. i know a lot of guys who left earlier and ran into snow which depending on depth woudln't have been too big a deal in the jeep but if on moto it could have been a game changer.
@@aMAYSingLife May 13 will be my attempt of the Wyoming BDR north to south, but I’m thinking I’ll be doing a lot of rerouting. Just going to take it day by day and hope for the best. Looking forward to your next videos.
what did you dislike about it? i feel like there is room for improvement (primarily the pipe that provides the jet for the flame, but the rest of it has been fantastic. If you are going to call both garbage, seems like description would be valid.
thats fair, although given that i am an inventor myself you have to make the price point high enough to make the whole thing worth it when doing small scale like this, so i realize why he sells it as a package.
it is pricey for what it is.. I do like how it folds up into a tiny package compared to the ammo box style though. for that you are paying for packing size more than function. so depending that can be worth it to you.
This is a great tutorial, and I followed it for several years with several Nav VI's - so many thanks ! I have fairly recently got a Zumo XT - and it seems that when I follow your tutorial with that instead that the behaviour when you turn off "phone and media" from the nav - that it stops playback through the helmet. Have you have any experience with the XT instead or know of any differences in behaviour ?
harley's as in the Pan American, certainly.. a regular harley? probably not. Weather makes a big diff on this too. if it has rained lately that creek can easily get 3ft deep.
you must not have watched the video... The rain happened after it flipped over. and i didn't have bags on it so it wasn't overloaded. Thanks for commenting though.
Are you still liking this stove over all others? Apparently the combination of using the Polaris pump with a Whisperlite universal is actually the best stove of all. Lighter than the Polaris (whisper rather than a blow torch noise), quieter than the Polaris, you get the valve on the pump and on the MSR fuel hose too so you can simmer with liquid, the Polaris pump is the most reliable and durable, the MSR fuel hose has a built in cleaning rod so you can clean out the hose if you need to use unleaded for any length of time (need a new Optimus fuel hose if it clogs up with dirty fuel residue), slightly wider bloom for more dispersed cooking with pans etc…quite a combination. Only issue with the Whisperlite is the pot supports are too wide for some smaller mug size pots
I'm still loving mine but to be fair i'm typically running clean fuel through it over the dirtier options.. Thats an interesting solution to combine the best of both!
so happy you enjoyed it! I have not posted in some time as I am doing a lot more commercial work now including an upcoming series that I'm working on that will be in Africa,. Thanks so much for watching!
The TFT and navigation is truly a joke by BMW. Will I sell my bike? Of course not but I don’t understand why BMW with the TFT and Nav can’t be more user friendly. It really is trash. Now try pairing a headset. It’s all just so clunky that this man had to make a 17 min video on how to do it. It all should just work. It’s 2024 how in the hell can technology be so clunky? It truly blows my mind. Why do I even need a separate nav when BMW has a TFT? Seems crazy and no I’m not the first to say this. BMW needs to give up and just add Apple car play or android whichever. They can’t seem to get their own stuff to work properly so just give up. Give us Apple car play or droid and be done. It would make everyone’s lives soooooooo much easier!
its actually bizarre at this point that the new ones are still coming out not supporting CarPlay and Android Play... Stubborness believing they can do better is likely the cause..
Just some advice from an old truck driver that lives in the area you just went through on this video. The gas signs and lights are usually for H2S or Hydrogen Sulfide gas. Nasty, deadly stuff. Most of the oilfield trucks here carry a SCBA just in case. You also mentioned Propane in the video. From the sound of your videos, I think you're driving a diesel. Propane gathers in the low areas and if there is a leak. and if the diesel sucks it in, it will run away. You can't shut it off, you can't stop it unless you close off the intake. Had it happen in the semi down around Muddy Gap WY one time. Not fun! I just found your channel and it looks great!! Looking forward to more!
unfortunately they utilize the two oem mount bolts that the soft top utilizes to hold the soft top plastics in place. you can still use the bags but they will swing like the cheap versions and you can't benefit from the hard aluminum plate that provides so much stability.
@@thebush6077 if someone who has a soft top take a picture of the location where the bolt holes are located with the soft top installed we may be able to determine a way to do both. i know on the JKU (i had one) used the OEM holes as a way for the plastic structure to hold itself in place not with bolts but with dowels that protruded from the plastic pieces that surrounded the doors and framed up the soft top attachments. So they weren't "bolted in to the bolt holes but they were using the holes for support. with those holes being used and not bolted down there isn't a good way for the plate to be secured without interfering with the soft top mechanism. if you are seeing something different on the JLU then we need to talk becasue i haven't verified it being different.
@@aMAYSingLife Had to go out and take a look and I see what you're saying now. Hadn't noticed it was like that (came from the factory with the top already installed.) Dunno if a future idea could maybe do something with any of the unused holes that the hard top would have normally bolted into, though that might not be feasible with how they're positioned 😔
Sloan's at Alcova has always been our stop for 20+ years with the kids growing up. They sell Ice Cream cones too. On the North Platte river, Gray's Reef not far behind Sloan's Great fishing hole and stretch of the river. Great to see someone explore the an area you've spent a lot of time at.
Are you going to make a rear storage solution something like the JWWY bags? I recently tried to go to the Hatchet Overland website and it isn't and the phone number is disconnected. Any insight?
unfortunately Hatchet Overland is not in business. My hope is a bigger company will purchase the rights to make their camper. Its still a great product 2 years later for me.. Best option out there in my opinion. I actually designed the bag to use the molle on the back to attach to a second bag that will take up the remainder rear area with a second plate using the oem bolt in the back and attach to the first bag using the molle. Its not done yet but that is my plan on how to utilize that space. I'd like somewhere to mount my genesis grill and things like that.
unfortunately they did not continue forward into 2024. My hope is a bigger company will buy the rights to produce their camper.. still the best out there in my opinion.
sadly that is the case.. hopefully another company will discover them and purchase the rights to produce their product. Its still the best out there for me.
@@jerryobrienI’ve been busy creating commercial stuff so much I haven’t had time to do the channel. Big things coming though that very well will be of interest.. currently working on a project that if it goes through will be based in Africa! So stay tuned! I do need to do an update soon though as a lot has changed in a year!
I considered all the above but went with the Alucab Canopy Camper and after 3 years and 47,000 mile and over 100 nights of sleeping in it I’m 110% satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone
If only my navigator 6 worked and if only Garmin would send me a working unit. I bought my nav 6 unit last year with a new bike… the touch screen recently quit working. I contacted my bmw dealer and they referred me to Garmin, Garmin told me they are making a “new” unit and I’m just supposed to wait until the new unit comes out. No time frame on the new unit, just wait. So I have a non working nav 6 unit, still under warranty that the warranty isn’t being honored on.
That nav 6 has been a total debacle. I went through 3 myself. Ridiculous. I give it 3-5 years before Starlink to cell makes Inreach obsolete and cell phones ultimately will wipe out the rest of the need for dedicated mapping devices. Just a matter of time now. Hard to comprehend how Garmin could have a long term strategy at this point to remain relevant
The frustrating part about those private gates blocking access to the BLM land is that after several years, those landowners will petition the government to sell the BLM land using the reasoning that it is never used by the public. In other words, the landowners prevent the public from having access to those public lands, then use the lack of use, caused by them, as an excuse for the government to sell them the land. This process should be illegal, and prosecuted to the full extent.
didn't even know they made rear ones. the goal is to increase the angle so leaving the rear as they are and lifting the front creates that lift that your legs need for support. didn't affect negatively the rear at all.
@aMAYSingLife I understand the premise behind it. I was just curious if you change the angle will you need to modify the rear to stay flat to the mounting surface, since you are changing the mounting angle of the rear
i'm wanting to develop a new bag that is similar to this one but with some changes.. i'm still wearing this one daily but its starting to wear out and i think they dont make it anymore
