Thanks To Mitch for recommending this #camping place. I finally got to camp in the holy grail of #abandoned buildings. This Building was on an old property annexed for city development and is classified as an urban park, so I knew what I had to do. A quick sneaky camping trip was just the ticket!

Not sure if this is the right place to say this but I got out of a decade long relationship about a year and a half ago, and my current partner hasn't been in the country for about half a year now. Watching your videos always helps me get settled into bed on nights where I feel extra alone and would just think myself in circles for hours otherwise. I know it's probably parasocial to say this, but they feel like I'm going on a camping trip with a buddy. I know it's not much, but I hope our comments give you a few moments of warmth too, as it's well deserved if they do.

What is the longest time you have stayed out in the wild Steve? Do not want to encourage you into harm's way but often think, 'I'd like to see Steve out there for say a week at a time, trying to remain unseen by the public'. Researching like mad all about how to gather nourishment and nutrients from the wild, so can truly sustain the body without shop bought items eventually. Spent 2 years stealth living in my van during Covid but did not end well! Now in the process of deciding the location of my first RU-vid over night stealth camp video in England. I just haven't dared to film any of it. (Would be a huge honour if you could watch and make a comment when I finally get the courage to put one online, anxiety and self defeatism are cruel life blockers but something I'm determined to banish from my mind). I don't know if you realise it but your videos must help so many people think to themselves...'Hey, I could really be creating some enjoyable, wholesome content online too and keeping busy, feeling great out in the wild, whilst sharing the experience with everyone else like minded online') Your videos are a form of therapy man, I bet as much for yourself as every one of us that tunes in? Planning to create a secretive shelter out there eventually too, like a base camp that hopefully no one can find, but first drawing inspiration from you and other's videos on RU-vid, so as not to make any silly decisions and get busted, better to take time and get it right than attempting to rush and make errors. Thoroughly enjoy your videos and surely have picked up quite a few handy hints and tips from you Sir. Cheers for it all, keep going!

So many awesome things we learned about Steve in this episode… No fear of: - Ghosts. - Burning treated wood in a dilapidated fireplace. Is afraid of: - Old open wells. - Crawling under dangerous buildings. - Snitching in prison. - Mice and Hantavirus. - Climbing higher than eye level over nails. - Molotov cocktails. - Being embarrassed to seen with his sleeping bag out. We should all try and be more like Steve!

@vaprex
@vaprex 11 месяцев назад
@@rolanddeschain6089 That's exactly what I was thinking - as the winds picked up around that dilapidated house - roof could blow open more, tree could fall, etc.. .. But no, the LOGICAL thing to worry about are rogue Canadian youths randomly lobbing Molotov Cocktails in the middle of the night at long-ago abandoned houses in the fall with dry leaves and trees everywhere. LOL... I mean, WTF?
@jwc3o2
@jwc3o2 11 месяцев назад
@@vaprex it's not so ridiculous a concern as you might think: my girlfriend & i were on an island in the Ottawa River & saw 2 yahoos totally trash a homeless guy's shack on the shore across the way then pile up all the smashed remains & torch it, almost setting fire to the bushland above the cliff the shack'd been built under. i've heard of other similar acts of random brainlessness (&, for that matter, had a shack of my own burned down, though i later found out that was through sheer carelessness). someone always has to prove they're an unmitigated asshole: be glad it's not you!
@vaprex
@vaprex 11 месяцев назад
@@jwc3o2 OK, yes, I'm sure kids do really dumb stuff sometimes -- but if I were sleeping in an old abandoned house that had been there for MANY decades (tens of thousands of days) what are the ODDS that *that night* is the one night the place gets bombarded with Molotov cocktails by hoodlums?? It's basically zero percent chance!! The wind and surrounding trees are by far a greater threat, and even *that* isn't that great a threat . IF it were, the house would be severely damaged and under many fallen trees! I think ppl need to think and understand a bit more about how probability works - especially when it comes to things relating to "chance of harm". A prime example is the irrational fear that people have when it comes to flying on airlines, thinking that commercial planes have a high likelihood of crashing... Of course, you're *far* more likely to get killed/injured driving to the airport than on the flight itself. Maybe Canada has orders of magnitude more old-house-hating, Molotov-cocktail-throwing youth than the USA, but I'd be surprised. Canadians *seem* to have their heads screwed on better than those of us in the lower 48 in the U.S.

Steve, I noticed you choking up. Please know you are not alone in your sadness. There are people out here who are also hurting, and having you there to share your time with us helps so much. I can only hope my/our presence helps you feel just the tiniest bit less alone in the world There is someone out here Steve, and we love you. Thank you, from the bottom of my own very broken heart ❤️

What's weird is that house was probably someone's love-of-their-life. They laid every brick, pounded every nail. How many loves and fights happened in those walls over the long years before they had to abandon it? Kinda sad to see it run down and torn apart. Whoever gave their time and love to build that place is probably long gone. Thanks Steve for sharing your experience!

So true. Did he say the approximate age of the house? I was surprised how well the fireplace worked.
