Camping In Outback Australia To Prospect For Rare Gold Nuggets With A Metal Detector

Arriving at a new gold spot is always exciting. The country is different, so is the geology and I enjoy exploring new ground, especially when I find gold during the first few hours of swinging my metal detector (Minelab GPX 6000).

Point 2 with 4500 and 5000, then major improvement with the 7000 down to .05. And several that dont register on the scales, but then put other "bigger" ones on scale and then add the fly s-it and readings as low as .. dont register and down to .02.. but then you can blow on the scales and make them increase the weight LOL. I might add, those extreme low finds are only because i normally travel in "normal" mode. Because i have not used the 6000 i would be very interested if you ever record a find with a detector -either a 6 or 7 - and then switch to the other and see the comparison. Thats how i discovered the power of 7000 in normal compared to difficult, made a world of difference. I notice you tackle a lot of "washed or eroded ground". In that soil, a lot of tiddlers are hiding under the bushes, under small logs and sticks, and the rare spots that retain a bit of soil, gold is lazy and will hide/stop travelling with any obstruction. (Just trying to keep your juices flowing through your gold veins) thanks krissy for keeping me amused... kev

Great recovery from the slip! I would have been on my backside. The smallest piece of gold I detected was the size of a pinhead in a fine tailings pile. Using my GPX 5000 with a slow swing, sorry the settings I do not recall. I was very surprised by it. Another great video.

I've never actually detected gold ground. My experience with a detector is limited to looking for lost coins and other treasures. I have a modest coin collection. What I enjoy the most is just being in remote wilderness. Some folks can't handle the vastness of it, and being so far from civilization, but to me it's relaxing ... and enlightening. As always, Thanks for sharing! Much Love from the U.S.

Not if every nugget was a gram or close to it and after an hour or two walk about detecting there would be real money, 3 nuggets or 3 grams would $190......

How did gold get in the middle of the Outback ? Was once a huge glacier covering that area ? Those are nice sized nuggets, each Having fun, and making a hundred dollars doing is a win win to me. I would be a bit concerned being by myself without a firearm for protection. I would be a danger to myself because I wound end up with “Gold Fever”, and before you know it pitch black and lost in the Outback. Get one of those stick detectors.

Krissy I throw those little ones back let em grow up! hehe I swing the GPX 6000 also, best detector Minelab has put out! Period! I have had a few also 2200, 3000, 3500, 4500. Getting rid of the cables and ease of operation of the 6000 is huge! Get yourself a pinpointer if you do not have one minelab has a great one! That last target in the bedrock most likely just dropped down into the crack and was on edge and your coil did not pick it up. With a pin pointer you will find it. Maybe one day you will invest in a elliptical coil, it will allow you to cover more ground faster, looking for patches. I have been gold detecting for 25 years cannot imagine not using it! Enjoy your videos! Keep swinging and good luck CJK

Both detectors pick up the small gold easily. Sometimes I think the 7000 runs a bit more stable on noisy ground but I'd have to compare the two detectors a bit more to be able to judge.

Great job as always Krissy… I watch all you videos with enthusiasm each week, but this is my first time commenting.. The smallest piece that I’ve ever found was 0.02g at 75mm depth using the GPZ 7000. I was running a 15” concentric xcoil. I’ve found that the xcoils outperform the 12” zsearch on small targets at depth, here in the Victorian goldfields. A GPZ/xcoil setup certainly gives the 6000 a run for its money.. The xcoils become an attractive proposition if you’re budget conscious like me and can only afford one machine.. The prospecting experts always say that no machine can do everything, but in my experience I’m not sure that I would agree. Obviously the 7000 is always going to be heavier to swing throughout the day, but you end up with a machine that basically does everything with the change of a coil. Keep up the great work… Cheers, Steven. ☺️👍
